Chapter 213: The Land of Pangu – Watching Flowers Fall Over the Beloved in Dreams
In the distance lay endless deserts, and beneath their feet was her longing. Under the deep blue night sky, illuminated by the cold moonlight, two figures—one black and one white—walked slowly through this vast world. These two were Liu Yi and Ye Luo Baihua. One dream after another unfolded, their lives teetering on the edge of life and death, with pain teaching them more.
The loneliness of the world could no longer affect Liu Yi’s heart. Here, he found more moments of emotion and warmth. The emptiness and silence of the night did not frighten Ye Luo Baihua, for she had the company of another figure.
Gazing at the boundless desert, Liu Yi said as he walked, “This place is truly terrifying. I wonder what nightmare awaits us next? Where exactly is the Prophet?” As he thought, he felt an overwhelming sense of uncertainty, as if the Prophet never existed at all.
Ye Luo Baihua glanced at Liu Yi and replied, “It is indeed frightening, but think about it—what’s the difference between these nightmares and what we experience in reality? All we can do is face them. Why worry so much? Since we’re here, we must keep going to find the Prophet. No matter how difficult it is or how far the road is, I believe we will succeed.”
Liu Yi turned to look at Ye Luo Baihua and said, “Maybe. We have no choice but to keep going. It’s just… it’s too dangerous. If it were just me, I wouldn’t fear death. But you shouldn’t be in danger. I only hope you can leave here safely.”
Ye Luo Baihua naturally understood what Liu Yi was thinking. Though it was out of a sense of duty, her heart warmed. She replied, “Since we’ve already come this far, worrying won’t help. Let’s just keep going. Once we find the Prophet, we can all leave, right? You should know… here, our lives are intertwined. If you die, I won’t survive either. So why not work together?”
Hearing Ye Luo Baihua’s words, Liu Yi also realized that worrying was pointless. Since they were already here, what was the point of overthinking? All they could do now was try their best to overcome all the nightmares and meet the Prophet here. Even if he couldn’t heal his own eyes, he would ensure Ye Luo Baihua left unharmed.
With that thought, Liu Yi said nothing more. He already agreed with Ye Luo Baihua’s words in his heart. What remained was for him to take action.
The two continued walking, with no indication of time or distance. They didn’t know where they were going. But when they looked up again, they saw a very tall sand dune ahead. Liu Yi stopped and said to Ye Luo Baihua, “Look, there’s something new ahead after all. It’s been so long since we last saw a mountain. I think there must be something important there.”
Ye Luobaihua also looked ahead. The sand mountain wasn’t very high, but it was quite wide, stretching all the way to the other end, beyond sight. Ye Luobaihua nodded gently and said, “Mm, it seems… we might have to face new challenges.”
Obviously, Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua were well aware that although they didn’t know much about the ‘True Dream,’ their long experience had given them some insights. Especially when something appeared suddenly, it might indicate something good or bad ahead. How could they not ponder much when looking at that sand mountain?
The night sky remained dark blue, the cold moon shone brightly among the stars, and yellow sand continued to fall. A gentle breeze scattered this beautiful scene, making the sand mountain stand out even more clearly against this backdrop.
Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua quickened their pace and headed toward the sand mountain. Whether what lay ahead was fortune or misfortune, they had to face it. Instead of waiting passively for it to come, it was better to uncover the truth themselves.
They moved quickly, and nothing strange happened to the sand mountain. Soon, they reached its front. The mountain wasn’t very high, but beneath it was a cave. Inside, it was pitch black, with nothing visible. Liu Yi glanced at Ye Luobaihua and said, “This is the only strange place here. There’s no other way out. If we want to move forward, we either have to climb over this mountain or enter this cave.”
Ye Luobaihua nodded and asked, “Which way do you plan to go?” Clearly, she was asking whether Liu Yi wanted to climb the mountain or enter the cave.
Liu Yi looked up and replied, “The mountain is so low that we can jump over it in just a few steps. What intrigues me is this cave. I wonder what’s inside such a low sand mountain?”
Ye Luobaihua understood Liu Yi’s meaning and nodded. “Then let’s go into the cave and take a look.”
Liu Yi nodded and led the way toward the cave. As soon as he stepped inside, the dark cave suddenly lit up. The surrounding stone walls were the color of white jade, smoothly reflecting the two of them. All the light came from behind those jade-like walls, turning the entire cave as bright as day. But at that moment, it didn’t resemble a cave at all—it looked more like a luxurious corridor in some wealthy household.
Ye Luobaihua looked around. Everything, including the ground and the ceiling, was made of beautiful white jade. What puzzled her was that while the outside was covered in sand, the inside wasn’t made of sand or soil but of jade. After observing for a while, she blurted out, “This place is so strange. It wasn’t formed naturally.”
Liu Yi nodded and instinctively gripped the sword in his left hand. “Mm, it’s indeed strange. This is clearly man-made. Looking at these magnificent stones and the lighting behind them, a lot of effort must have gone into it… In my opinion, this used to be a corridor leading somewhere. Over time, it was buried by the desert.”
Ye Luobaihua nodded in agreement with Liu Yi’s analysis and said, “Mm, then let’s keep going and see where this leads.”
Liu Yi nodded and replied, “Mm.”
After deciding to move forward, the two walked inside. Strangely, though the corridor seemed to extend horizontally from the outside, as they walked further, they realized it was gradually descending, leading somewhere underground. They kept walking, feeling as if they had gone for a long time and covered a great distance. Yet, aside from the sense of going deep, they found nothing else—it seemed as if the passage stretched infinitely.
As they continued, Liu Yi said, “This place is so long, and it seems to lead underground. I don’t know how long we’ve been walking.”
Ye Luobaihua nodded and said, “We have no choice but to keep going. There’s no way back.”
Only then did Liu Yi realize what she meant. He looked back and was shocked to see complete darkness ahead. With each step forward, more of the white jade disappeared, revealing an endless abyss. If they stopped, the jade would stop disappearing as well, but behind them was nothing but darkness—no chance to turn back.
Liu Yi nodded helplessly and smiled. “It seems the dreams are truly strange, changing at will. Well… since there’s no way back, let’s keep going. I really want to see who’s guiding us down this path, forcing us to keep moving.”
Ye Luobaihua nodded. Though everything was eerily strange, she showed no signs of panic. Anything could be faced as long as one was brave enough to tell oneself to be brave.
With no way to retreat, Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua sped up, eager to see what lay ahead. Various guesses crossed Liu Yi’s mind. The path was clearly man-made; even if not, it couldn’t have formed naturally. Given the situation, they seemed to have fallen into a trap with no exit. But if the path disappeared on both sides at once… wouldn’t that put their lives in danger? Yet, for now, it only disappeared on one side. Upon reflection, it seemed someone was deliberately using this path to guide them.
Liu Yi wondered who it could be. Who else remained unseen in this dream? Clearly, the path was meant to guide them to a specific destination. The person didn’t intend to kill him—obviously, they wanted him to walk to the end of this path. But after much thought, Liu Yi couldn’t figure out who would use such a method.
Soon, he dismissed this thought, realizing they had reached the end—the end of the cave. A dazzling white light shone ahead, covering everything at the entrance. Inside, Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua couldn’t see anything outside; all they saw was that white light, a sea of confusion.
Liu Yi thought to himself, “There’s no need to think about it this time; we’ve reached the end. I really want to see who it is.” Meanwhile, Ye Luo Baihua also felt curious. Though she didn’t know what was going on, it seemed as if someone had deliberately guided them here. Now, with the exit right in front of them, all the mysteries were about to be revealed. It might not be good news, but after all, human curiosity is strong. Liu Yi glanced at Ye Luo Baihua, gripped his sword tightly, and said, “There might be danger. Be careful.” Ye Luo Baihua nodded. She knew very well that no matter what happened, the person beside her would protect her. She didn’t know where this feeling came from, but her reliance on him grew stronger, as if she feared nothing anymore. Liu Yi stepped forward. As he and Ye Luo Baihua left the cave, under the illumination of the white light, their eyes couldn’t see anything clearly for a while. They didn’t know how much time passed, but gradually, their eyes adapted to the intense white light, and everything around them slowly became clearer. Soon, they could see everything around them. Suddenly, a cry of “Ah!” came from Ye Luo Baihua. Without thinking, Liu Yi instinctively reached out with his right hand to pull her. They weren’t far apart, and Liu Yi reacted quickly. As soon as the cry came, he grabbed her arm. But when he turned around, he saw that although Ye Luo Baihua looked pale, she wasn’t in danger. He asked in surprise, “What’s wrong?” Ye Luo Baihua looked at Liu Yi, then slowly lowered her gaze, extending her right hand downward. It seemed she didn’t dare to take a deep breath, fearing something might happen. Liu Yi followed her gaze downward and felt a hint of fear. What was this? It turned out that beneath them wasn’t a desert or land, but nothing at all—no ground at all. From time to time, a layer of white gas passed beneath their feet. Liu Yi looked at the white gas and asked, “Are those clouds?” Ye Luo Baihua looked at the clouds drifting beneath them, then at Liu Yi, and said, “Where are we? How can we be standing in the air?” Hearing this, Liu Yi looked around. In the distance, phoenixes occasionally landed, and several cranes circled above them. The white sunlight illuminated everything here, brighter than anywhere else in the world. Green evergreen trees bore tempting fruits, and countless rocks floated in the sky. On top of these rocks were magnificent rooms made of white jade, which appeared even brighter under the sunlight. Liu Yi stepped forward a few steps, gripped his sword in his left hand, and seemed to sigh. “Seven thousand years have passed. I’ve forgotten the scenery here. Why did I come back in a dream today?”
Ye Luobaihua didn’t understand Liu Yi’s words. She glanced at the floating clouds below and cautiously took a step forward, asking, “What place is this exactly? Have you been here before?”
Liu Yi turned to look at Ye Luobaihua’s puzzled expression and said, “I’ve been here before. This is Pangu’s land, the Divine Realm.”
Upon hearing this, Ye Luobaihua stepped back two steps. The Divine Realm was where the gods resided; ordinary mortals were not allowed to enter without permission. It was said that if a mortal practiced sincerely, they could become a god. But over thousands of years, how many had truly succeeded? Ye Luobaihua looked around. Green divine trees floated among the thick clouds, bathed in bright white sunlight. Splendid palaces floated in the distance, and from time to time, cranes flew across the sky, while phoensix circled under the sun in the far off…
Liu Yi glanced at Ye Luobaihua and said, “I think… I know who this person in the nightmare is.”
Ye Luobaihua looked at Liu Yi curiously and asked, “You’re not saying there are gods in this nightmare, are you?”
Liu Yi replied, “Then do you know who I am? I’m a demon, a demon with true demonic blood. If demons have dreams, then their fate in those dreams is to meet the gods. Since there are demons, gods must exist as well.”
Ye Luobaihua looked at Liu Yi and said, “That’s different. Do demons and gods really have to keep fighting like this forever?”
Liu Yi shook his head helplessly and said, “If gods were truly selfless, there would be no war between gods and demons. If gods still harbored selfish desires, then the world would never be fair.”
Ye Luobaihua’s expression was strange. Clearly, she couldn’t understand what Liu Yi was saying, nor did she grasp the meaning of the war between gods and demons. She looked at Liu Yi and asked, “Then who is the god that will appear in this nightmare? Isn’t there many powerful people in the Divine Realm?”
Liu Yi glanced at the birds flying in the distance, thought for a moment, and said, “Pangu.”
Hearing Liu Yi’s words, Ye Luobaihua was shocked. Although she knew gods were difficult to deal with, Liu Yi’s cultivation level shouldn’t be that low either. Yet, she never expected Liu Yi’s opponent to be the supreme god of the Divine Realm—the Creator God, Pangu.
Ye Luobaihua didn’t say much, because she finally realized that this nightmare was truly terrifying. Not only did she have to overcome herself, but she also had to defeat a god. If there was even the slightest mistake, they would truly be destroyed and vanish forever from the dream.
Just then, pinkish-white petals began to fall from the sky. The petals were light and beautiful, carrying a intoxicating fragrance that both Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua found familiar. After thinking, they realized it must be the scent from the Sea of Floating Snowflakes. Countless petals slowly drifted down and disappeared on the ground…
As they watched the petals fall, the figure of a woman in white appeared in front of Liu Yi and Ye Luobaihua. The woman wore a long white dress and a light veil over it. Her arms were also covered in white silk that fluttered in the wind. Her hair flowed smoothly, her delicate face featured bright black eyes like black gems, a high nose bridge, lips without rouge yet vivid, and hands as smooth as jade, resting on her slender waist. In the gentle breeze, she resembled a being from the heavens, free from all worldly distractions—a beauty beyond description.
Ye Luo Baihua didn’t know anything; she only felt that the person before her was somewhat familiar, but she couldn’t recall who it was. The person before her might not be as beautiful as July, yet her delicate grace and otherworldly charm possessed an indescribable beauty. In Ye Luo Baihua’s eyes, she couldn’t help but marvel at the perfection of the Creator God.
Liu Yi stared at the familiar face before him and suddenly found himself speechless. The familiar figure from his dreams, the longing that had lasted for seven thousand years—now appeared so clearly before him. Looking into the celestial maiden’s eyes, he momentarily forgot whether this was a dream or reality. He didn’t want to think any further. Even if it was just for a moment, it felt like eternity. Even if he had to sink here forever, he would be willing.
The celestial maiden’s eyes grew moist as she looked at Liu Yi’s weathered gaze. She gently said, “Are you doing well in another world?”
Hearing the maiden’s words, Liu Yi stopped doubting or hesitating. He slowly removed his glove and gently stroked her face, forgetting her question, the reason for his dream, the dangers here, and even the existence of Pangu. He didn’t want to think about anything else. He only wished to keep this feeling etched in his heart. His lips moved slightly as he asked, “Is this real?”
