Chapter 89: The Battle Against Vampires
The dome of the hall, illuminated by golden light, was nearly five meters high and covered an area of over 100 square meters—considerably spacious under normal circumstances. But now, with five powerful fighters battling inside, such a small space was clearly insufficient.
As the weakest among them, Ye Feng was well aware of the huge gap in strength between himself and the Vampire Count. His attacks would hardly have any effect. He decided to use a weapon purchased from the Void Realm to attack.
He took out the intelligent photon cannon from the Void Realm and held it in his right hand. The silver-glowing cannon instantly enveloped his entire right arm, turning it into a silver mechanical arm—except that a massive cannon barrel replaced the usual metal fist at the end.
Except for Long Tian, the others looked at Ye Feng’s transformation in surprise. Even Nikola was stunned for a moment.
However, given the tense atmosphere, Hank didn’t bother asking what kind of equipment Ye Feng was using.
Luo Li blinked her big eyes at Ye Feng’s arm, her expression similar to that of a little girl seeing a doll she liked in a window—unable to take her eyes away. If not for the intense tension in the room, she would have been the first to run over and touch his mechanical arm.
“If I’m not mistaken, this is the thing you used to kill Calby!” Nikola narrowed his eyes, staring at Ye Feng’s transformed arm. “Your supernatural ability is truly unique!”
Ye Feng ignored Nikola’s question. Uncertain whether this weapon could even defeat someone as strong as Nikola, he carefully raised his right hand and aimed the cannon at him.
Seeing Ye Feng aiming at him, Nikola felt uneasy. He let out a low growl, his eyes turning completely black, with no white left. Two terrifying fangs appeared in his mouth, making his once handsome face look grotesque. The nails on his fingers also turned black and elongated to about two inches.
Behind him, there was a tearing sound—caused by his high-end suit being ripped by the bat wings that had emerged from his back.
Nikola pulled open his upper garment, tossing aside his now-torn suit and silk shirt to reveal his muscular bare chest, which matched well with the black bat wings fluttering behind him.
He stretched his neck left and right a few times. A sinister smile appeared on Nikola’s lips. Before anyone could see what he did, he had already disappeared from his original spot.
Ye Feng didn’t launch an attack recklessly. The photon cannon had a tracking function, and if he attacked first while Nikola happened to be near Long Tian and the others, they would inevitably be caught in the blast. He couldn’t take that risk.
Nikola reappeared behind Hank. Hank was the strongest of the four in his eyes, so he chose to target him first.
His dark nails silently reached for Hank’s waist. By the time Hank realized what was happening, it was already too late to dodge. A streak of blood seeped through his tight shirt. Hank rushed forward, clutching his left waist, and glared coldly at Nikola from a distance.
Nikola stuck out his tongue, licked his blood-stained nails, and took a deep, satisfied breath. “The scent of a strong man…”
Before Ye Feng could attack, Nikola vanished again.
In just the time it took to take a breath, he suddenly appeared in front of Long Tian, smiled at him slightly, and raised his right hand.
Long Tian sensed trouble and immediately stepped back to avoid the attack. As his back touched the wall of the ancient castle, Nikola placed one hand on Long Tian’s shoulder and used his other hand to gently trace his cheek, leaving a streak of blood on his handsome profile. Nikola licked the wound on Long Tian’s face and whispered in his ear, “It’s a shame this face isn’t meant for a vampire…”
Long Tian clenched his fists, ready to fight back, but felt his shoulder go loose—Nikola had disappeared.
Almost at the same time he vanished, he appeared in front of Luo Li. His somewhat pale right hand reached for her chin.
“Huh?!” Nikola exclaimed in surprise as he found that this seemingly fragile girl had grabbed his wrist. He immediately realized that the strongest among the four wasn’t Hank but this delicate-looking girl.
Realizing this, he became more cautious. He twisted his wrist and broke free from Luo Li’s grip. Almost simultaneously, he moved his fingers slightly, pinching a lock of hair between his index and middle fingers.
Luo Li was shocked. She glanced sideways and saw that a corner of her forehead bang had been cut off by this man.
Nicola gave Loli a slight smile before disappearing once again, his tuft of hair slowly falling to the ground.
Ye Feng knew that Nicola’s move was meant as a demonstration—had he chosen to kill, Long Tian and the others would have long been nothing but wandering spirits in this place. Ye Feng also realized that Nicola’s next target was himself.
He stood motionless, the six-energy scales displayed by the photon cannon lighting up three of them. He knew this attack was even more powerful than the one that had killed Kalbi last time.
The moment Nicola appeared behind him, a fierce glint flashed in Ye Feng’s eyes, and he launched a powerful strike without hesitation!
Surprise flashed in Nicola’s eyes. He hadn’t expected that, even though he had appeared in the opposite direction of the cannon’s muzzle, the white flash from the opposite direction still headed straight for him. He wildly flapped his bat wings behind him in an attempt to dodge the attack, but failed.
Long Tian and the others didn’t even have time to see what had happened—only a flash of white light, and Nicola was already gone, with a hole the size of a person created in the castle wall.
“Is he dead?” Long Tian looked at Ye Feng. Although he wasn’t sure just how strong Ye Feng’s latest attack had been, he knew that if he were hit, his chances of survival would be slim!
“No!” Hank answered affirmatively from the side. His special eyes had captured what had just happened. “He dodged the fatal part of that attack!”
This was also within Ye Feng’s expectations. After all, such a locking mechanism couldn’t be perfect—if the opponent was fast enough and could dodge at the moment the attack reached them, it was entirely possible to avoid it!
With Nicola’s whereabouts unknown, Ye Feng knew he was buying time to recover from his injuries. He put on his detection sunglasses.
Seeing Ye Feng’s strange behavior of wearing sunglasses, Hank and Loli looked at him with puzzled expressions again.
“Forty-three degrees direction, 213 meters!” Ye Feng whispered to them. “He’s healing!”
Long Tian was the first to chase after him, with Hank and Loli following closely behind.
Ye Feng knew that at his current stage in the Dan Condensation phase, the remaining energy in his body could only sustain him for two more attacks of this magnitude. He also chased after the three of them.
Nicola looked utterly disheveled at this point—his body from the right collarbone down to the lowest rib beneath his chest had vanished. His entire right arm was also gone along with his right shoulder, and even the black bat wings on his back had a large hole in them, with faint traces of burns remaining.
He staggered to his feet and stared at Ye Feng frantically. “Gah… you still couldn’t kill me!”
“Judging by your state, you want to try again?” Ye Feng’s lips curled slightly as he raised his right hand once more.
Nicola watched Ye Feng’s movements intently, and the wounds on his ruined body began to heal slowly.
Just as Ye Feng was about to attack, a dark shadow flashed by and suddenly appeared in front of Nicola. When her attack was blocked by Nicola and she froze in place, Ye Feng realized it was Luo Li.
Seeing her first attack blocked, Luo Li didn’t panic. Instead, she used fists and feet to attack Nicola continuously, trying to find an opening in him.
In Ye Feng’s eyes, Luo Li’s attacks were almost all deadly—she was like a lethal beast, with every strike targeting a vital spot. There was no unnecessary movement, only simplicity. Compared to warriors like Long Tian, Luo Li’s techniques lacked any grace; she seemed like a robot dedicated solely to killing, though without that stiffness.
Although Luo Li’s strength was inferior to Nicola’s, her attacks effectively hindered the already injured Nicola. Nicola wasn’t in a hurry either. While fixing his injuries, he calmly deflected her attacks.
Luo Li’s initial attacks soon drew Long Tian and Hank into the fight as well. The three of them surrounded Nicola in a chaotic battle, while Ye Feng aimed his right hand at Nicola, waiting for the perfect moment to strike a killing blow.
He knew that when Nicola was exhausted from being entangled by Long Tian and the others, and new strength hadn’t yet emerged, that would be his chance to attack.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before Nicola’s internal injuries began to heal. With a fierce roar, he pushed back Long Tian and the others and moved in a zigzag pattern toward Ye Feng.
Ye Feng paid no attention to Nicola’s path. Having already locked onto him, he launched another attack. Another white flash passed by, followed by a shrill scream that reached Ye Feng and the others’ ears.
Hank, preoccupied with joining the warband, didn’t notice the damage Ye Feng’s attack had caused to Nikola. All he saw was Nikola’s torn bat wings covering his trembling body, with a large mouthful of blood spewing from his lips. At that moment, Long Tian walked over to the barely alive Nikola, grabbed his neck, and pulled him up from the ground. “Where is Yueer locked up?” Nikola raised his blood-soaked head and gave Long Tian a strange smile. In a flash, Long Tian felt Nikola’s grip tighten around his throat…
