Chapter 599: A Special Deal

“Do you want more Polar Souls?” A hoarse voice clearly reached Ye Feng’s ears.
Ye Feng glanced around at the crowd and saw a man in a black cloak standing motionless among them, his gaze fixed on his direction. Ye Feng knew it was this man who had spoken to him just now, so he walked over to him.
The hood of the black cloak was pulled low, preventing Ye Feng from seeing his face clearly.
“Do you have Polar Souls with other attributes?” Ye Feng asked.
“No, I only have those with water and fire attributes,” the voice replied, still hoarse. “But in my opinion, attributes are secondary. You just want to gather all nine types of soul-based powers. I happen to have eight more Polar Souls left. Together with the one you bought before, that’s enough. You should know that Polar Souls contain all the laws related to souls, right? Each one consumed grants mastery over one such law.”
“What do you want?” Ye Feng asked after pondering for a moment.
“Three million star crystals!” The cloaked man replied without hesitation.
“Are you crazy? Do I look like someone who has that much star crystal?” Ye Feng was stunned and immediately retorted.
“You don’t before the auction ends. But after the auction, I’m sure you can come up with three million.” The cloaked man spoke as if he were certain of Ye Feng’s ability to pay, though Ye Feng couldn’t see him, he could tell from the tone of his voice.
Ye Feng naturally understood what the other man meant, but he wasn’t sure how the other man knew he was the one who had bid on that palace-level supreme spiritual treasure. He thought to himself, “Could it be that the auction venue leaks information?”
“Don’t worry. Aside from the staff at the auction venue, only I know about this,” the cloaked man said confidently.
“Are you threatening me?” Ye Feng frowned slightly.
“Do you think I need to?” A disdainful laugh came from beneath the cloak. “I just want to make a deal. If you’re unwilling, I won’t force you. I’ll have to find someone else.”
“Why three million?” Ye Feng asked after staying silent for a while.
“I urgently need money, and three million is all I’m short of. But I’m too proud to ask friends for help, so I had to resort to this kind of deal,” the cloaked man said with a dry laugh.
“But for me, spending three million for eight Polar Souls seems way too cheap, doesn’t it?”

“I can only tell you that this deal is by no means a loss for you. As for why, I can’t tell you yet,” said the cloaked man mysteriously.
Ye Feng remained silent for a moment before raising his head. “I have a question. If you can give me a satisfactory answer, I’ll agree to this deal.”
“Go ahead!” the cloaked man agreed without hesitation.
“I want to know how you knew I was the seller of that peak-level spirit treasure of the palace type,” Ye Feng expressed his doubt.
“It’s a soul-related ability called Soul Resonance,” the cloaked man explained. “It allows one to control their own Soul Resonance to mimic others or use it to attack others’ souls. It can also be used to sense others’ emotions… By the time the last item was auctioned, everyone’s Soul Resonance was in a state of excitement, with shorter cycles and faster speeds. But your Soul Resonance was different—it was one of anticipation, calm and distant. And with each increase in bid, your Soul Resonance differed from most people’s state of disappointment; instead, it showed excitement. That’s why I’m sure you’re the seller of that item.”
“There’s such an ability?” Ye Feng was surprised.
“Have you made up your mind? For three million, you can acquire the same ability, or even more…” the cloaked man tempted him slightly.
“Alright, I can accept this deal, but I have one condition,” Ye Feng finally agreed.
“Go ahead!” the cloaked man knew things were nearing success.
“You must not tell anyone about this peak-level spirit treasure of the palace type!” Ye Feng stated his condition. He didn’t want someone’s carelessness to bring trouble upon him.
“Don’t worry. I never intended to tell anyone from the start,” the cloaked man said matter-of-factly. “But aside from me, there are probably others who have already noticed you. You should be glad that once you master the nine soul-related abilities, detection methods like Soul Resonance will be ineffective against you.”
“I’ll wait here for you. Go get the money. After the deal is done, we won’t know each other anymore,” the cloaked man said before sitting back down.
Ye Feng then turned and left to collect the star crystals he had earned. After deducting the 5% commission from the auction venue, he was left with 9,975,000 star crystals.

After completing the handover, Ye Feng hurried back to the auction venue to finish the deal with the cloaked man. After receiving the money, the cloaked man disappeared quickly into the crowd. Ye Feng carefully checked the Polar Souls in his hands; thankfully, they were all in good condition. Otherwise, he really wouldn’t have known where to find that guy.

“Absorbing Polar Souls is extremely difficult and highly dangerous. You must be aware of that, right?” Sikong Youlan slowly walked over from afar.

“I know,” Ye Feng nodded. “But this is the fastest way to master soul-related laws. Collecting them one by one is too slow.”

“It seems you’re quite interested in substances with extreme attributes?” Sikong Youlan asked.

“That’s right. Can you help me collect them? The more, the better. Just sell them to me at market price later,” Ye Feng nodded in agreement.

“What do you need so many substances with extreme attributes for? Do you plan to master all the laws and turn them into divine powers? That’s utterly insane!” Sikong Youlan exclaimed in astonishment.

“The more, the better!” Ye Feng didn’t admit it outright, but it was equivalent to an indirect confirmation.

“I think it’s completely unnecessary. Many laws don’t have much practical use. Mastering them as divine powers is simply a waste of time and effort,” Sikong Youlan expressed her opinion.

“No law is useless,” Ye Feng replied with just that sentence.

“Alright, as you wish. We’ll help you collect them!” Sikong Youlan was too lazy to argue further with Ye Feng. “Be careful after leaving our auction. Although we won’t reveal your information, some people with special laws can detect things that ordinary people can’t. Based on our experience, it’s very likely you’ve already been targeted.”

“Let them come then!” Ye Feng had already guessed this outcome. Since the cloaked man could identify him as the seller, it was possible for others to do the same as well. With that, Ye Feng strode out through the main entrance…
