Chapter 573: Failed Interrogation

Ye Feng’s move undoubtedly stunned everyone present. Not even Long Tian had expected the effect of his space-based divine power to be so astonishing.
Bernard and the others stared in shock, mouths agape, at what was happening before them. The rest wore expressions of wariness and fear.
“Shi Tuo, carry him back!” Ye Feng turned to Shi Tuo, the tallest among them, as he was usually tasked with such laborious work.
Shi Tuo didn’t complain. With a strange expression, he lifted the man frozen in space onto his shoulders. He could sense a thick layer surrounding the man, like a rectangular prism—invisible but palpable. He guessed this was likely how Ye Feng had frozen him. Though he didn’t know what that layer was, he knew it must be some kind of space-based divine power.
Back in the holy city of the Fifth Holy Land, Ye Feng ordered Shi Tuo to throw the man into a separate room.
“Won’t he escape?” Ulbeca asked anxiously.
“I’ll know immediately if he moves,” Ye Feng replied without elaborating. Divine powers differed from laws not only in strength but also in their strange connection to the user. Whenever a divine power was used, any change would be sensed instantly by the user. Moreover, such space-based divine powers only failed under three conditions: either Ye Feng deliberately lifted the restriction, the opponent’s power was stronger, or the opponent mastered other escape-related space divine powers at a level comparable to Ye Feng’s.
“Now that we’ve captured him, what should we do with him?” Ulbeca asked another question.
“Since it was Blade Edge who caught him, let him share his thoughts first. If there are any shortcomings, we can address them later,” Sherlock suggested.
Everyone nodded in agreement. They had already witnessed Ye Feng’s strength and knew he wasn’t someone to provoke lightly.
“I just want to know why he came to this dimension, if he has any accomplices, or anyone else who arrived in the Holy World with him. For the rest, ask whatever you want. After that, I’ll kill him,” Ye Feng said coldly. Remembering the scene of the man eating children earlier, his anger was hard to contain. Before capturing him alive, Ye Feng had repeatedly resisted the urge to kill him. After all, if the man had accomplices, things wouldn’t be so simple.

Soon, everyone started asking questions one after another.
Ye Feng used space freezing to lock its limbs, then had Long Tian restrict the energy within it, before beginning the interrogation.
One interrogator after another tried, but no useful information could be obtained—even Ye Feng gave it a shot, yet the guy refused to speak under any circumstances.
“Lord, I heard you didn’t get any useful information from the interrogation?” Bai Yiyi’s message arrived suddenly.
“How did you know?” Ye Feng hadn’t had time to inform those still at the inn about the outcome of this incident.
“Xiao Bei has been in touch with us. We told him beforehand to stay in contact at all times so we could come over whenever we could help,” Bai Yiyi replied quickly.
Ye Feng raised his head and glared at Bernard. He hadn’t expected someone to act behind his back.
“Come here. Maybe your soul-related laws can help obtain some information.” At this point, Ye Feng could only rely on Bai Yiyi. Although her soul laws were only at the tenth level of perfection, she had a soul mutation physique and was at the peak of the ten-star celestial level. Her soul strength could potentially break through to the nebula level at any time, making it much easier for her to master divine powers then.
“Sister Pearl wants to come too. She said if I try and the guy still refuses to talk, she can give it a shot,” Bai Yiyi’s message surprised Ye Feng slightly. He didn’t understand why Pearl would say that, as she wasn’t proficient in soul laws.
“Whatever. If she wants to come, let her. Anyway, no one else can do anything, so it doesn’t matter if she tries,” Ye Feng agreed without further thought.
The two of them appeared instantly inside the city lord’s mansion, shocking the other rulers, who looked at the two women warily.
“No need to be nervous. These two are also my companions,” Ye Feng smiled before saying to them, “Follow me!”
At that moment, only the mantis monster remained in the interrogation room. Seeing Ye Feng enter with the two women, it smiled smugly, seemingly mocking their incompetence.
“Yiyi, give it a try. If it doesn’t work, don’t force it,” Ye Feng said coldly, glancing at the smug mantis beast.
Bai Yiyi stepped in front of the mantis beast and quickly formed hand seals. After a while, her eyes turned pure black, and the mantis beast’s gaze became blurred.

Ye Feng watched the scene ahead with tension on his face; he certainly didn’t want this attempt to fail. Half an hour passed, and the mantis beast’s vision gradually cleared, while Bai Yiyi’s forehead was covered in sweat, and her breathing became rapid. After another while, the mantis beast burst into laughter—a sound like metal grinding together, unpleasant to hear—“A bunch of fools! Guys who haven’t even achieved soul-based powers—how could they possibly get secrets from me?” Bai Yiyi spat out a mouthful of blood and stepped back a few steps. “It won’t work. Its soul is special, like a hedgehog with countless sharp points facing outward, tightly protecting its core. Unless I achieve the power of soul laws, there’s nothing I can do against it.” “Forget it. Anyway, it’s in our hands; it can’t escape.” Ye Feng shook his head. Though disappointed, it wasn’t Bai Yiyi’s fault. Even they still didn’t know what kind of creature it was. “Let me give it a try!” Pearl, with her arms crossed, looked confident. Her request caught Ye Feng off guard for a moment. But he quickly regained his composure and nodded. “It’s fine to give it a try.” “Then go outside. Leave me something to record with.” Pearl’s expression didn’t seem like she was joking. “Go outside?” Ye Feng was puzzled again; he had no idea what Pearl was thinking. “I don’t want anyone to see my interrogation, so just a recorder will suffice; no video is needed.” Pearl’s expression was serious. Ye Feng nodded reluctantly, found a recorder commonly used in the Holy Realm from the virtual realm, handed it to Pearl, and then took out an empty jade slip, printing all the questions on it before handing it to her as well. “These are all the questions we want to ask.” Pearl took it, opened the door, and looked at the two of them. Ye Feng and Bai Yiyi exchanged a helpless glance before obediently deciding to leave.
