Chapter 229: The Captured Demon Monk

A short, chubby man blinked his small eyes, smiling smugly.
“Your guess is correct. I indeed am buying time and preparing for the Soul Capture Spell. But you noticed too late… Five, four, three, two, one…”
The Demon Monk snapped his fingers. “Submit, darling!”
“Do you really think such a mediocre spell will work on me?” The woman in the white dress slowly raised her head. “As long as someone has a similar level of cultivation and knows the Soul Stabilizing Curse of the Buddhist realm, your Soul Capture Spell will be useless!”
Seeing that the woman in the white dress hadn’t been controlled, the Demon Monk was briefly stunned, but quickly reassured himself. “You know the Soul Stabilizing Curse, but that uncle over there might not. As long as I control him, it won’t be a two-versus-two fight anymore—it’ll be three-versus-one, and you’ll still lose!”
The woman in the white dress frowned. She knew he was right. Although it was currently a stalemate between two opponents, he would only need five or six minutes to complete the Soul Capture Spell, leaving her in a complete disadvantage.
“Run away quickly and get more help!” she shouted at Meng Shan.
“If I leave, it’ll be two-versus-one, and you have no chance of winning. If we’re leaving, we leave together!” Meng Shan replied. “Besides, I, Meng Shan, have never been a deserter. I may not know that curse, but I’m not going to be outmatched by a mere woman. Since you weren’t controlled, I probably won’t be either!”
“I love those arrogant types! Their pride always leads them to their doom!” the Demon Monk said, grinning with his fat face. “Let me see if you’re truly tough or just a talkative weakling!”
The Demon Monk propped his head and stared at Meng Shan. After a while, he began the countdown. “Time’s almost up! Five, four, three, two, one. Kneel down right now, crawl to me, and lick my shoes!”
After saying this, Bai Meng glanced at him disdainfully. “All I hear is a mad dog barking!”
“How is that possible? You actually signed a master-slave contract with someone?” The Demon Monk widened his eyes at Meng Shan. “You even managed to erase the mark I left on your soul.”
Hearing this, even the woman in the white dress looked at Meng Shan curiously. After all, he was a Seven Calamities Immortal, one of the top experts in the entire cultivation world. Why would such a powerful person agree to sign a master-slave contract?

“There are many ways to counter your trick. Just because you don’t know them doesn’t mean they don’t exist!” Meng Shan refused to admit anything about the contract.
“He’s right. As long as one’s mental strength is greater than yours, they can break free from control!” A female voice suddenly came from behind the Demon Monk, as a dark red dagger emerged from his left chest.
The Demon Monk slowly turned to look. It was a young woman wearing a tight black leather suit that accentuated her graceful figure. He also noticed that she only possessed the cultivation level of a Five Calamities Immortal. “Who are you?”
“I’m Lilith. I’m here to kill you!” The woman wore a sinister smile on her face.
“You can’t kill me!” The Demon Monk shook his head confidently. “If you don’t believe it, go ahead and try!”
As he spoke, the armored woman who had been fighting the woman in the white dress stopped fighting and gradually regained consciousness. At the same time, the man fighting Meng Shan also woke up.
The woman who had come looking for trouble collapsed, holding her head and crying in pain.
“What have you done to me?” The Demon Monk finally realized the abnormality of the situation—not only had his soul-control technique failed, but he also felt weak all over.
“This dagger in your heart was forged using the life force of a hundred accomplished monks. Doesn’t it feel great?” Lilith said with a wicked grin. “It’s said that inserting such a weapon into your heart will strip you of all strength and mobility.”
“How do you know this method?” The Demon Monk still found it hard to believe.
“I just know!” Lilith replied casually.
At that moment, the two powerful beings above the Spirit Immortal level who had been controlled stormed over angrily.
“I’m going to castrate you!” The armored woman, ignoring her status as the leader of the Flower Sect, shouted at the Demon Monk.
“I’m going to kill you!” The man with a fierce aura looked darkly angry.
“He’s mine!” Lilith stepped between the Demon Monk and the two of them. “He’s my prisoner. If you want to do anything to him, you must ask me first!”
The two also realized that if it weren’t for this woman, they would still be under the control of that guy. Though they were stronger than Lilith, they weren’t unreasonable either. So they stopped and glared at the Demon Monk.

“As you can see, there are two guys here who are stronger than you and want to kill you!” Lilith turned around and smiled at the Demon Monk. “And now you’re in my hands. Whether I’ll hand you over to them or not depends on your performance.”
“Hmph, you’ve only trapped me. Besides, those two simple-minded fools can’t kill me at all!” the Demon Monk said with disdain.
“Do you really think so?” Lilith laughed. “If I’ve found a way to trap you, surely I also have a way to kill you. You see, every immortal has a fatal flaw—that’s the law of nature. There’s no such thing as a true immortal in this world.”
The Demon Monk glanced at Lilith, a hint of panic in his eyes.
“Guess what would happen if I stuffed this into your mouth within a minute?” Lilith said as she took out a greenish bead that seemed to be made of stone. But upon seeing it, the Demon Monk’s face was filled with fear. After a moment of silence, he finally spoke, “Just tell me what you want! Keep that thing away from me!”
“Are you really sure you want me to take this away? Isn’t a relic one of your Buddhists’ favorite things?” Lilith smiled slyly before putting the bead back into her storage ring.
“Fine, our deal is simple—give me that key!” Lilith finally revealed the purpose of her visit.
“What key?” The Demon Monk clearly refused to hand over the key to the treasure easily, trying to stall.
“You know what I mean!” Lilith said as she reached for her storage ring.
“Oh, I remember! You mean that star-shaped ornament?” The Demon Monk finally agreed to compromise.
“Give it to me! I might not kill you!” Lilith said coldly, growing impatient.
“No, change the terms! The deal must be based on equality. In my opinion, this deal between us isn’t equal at all!” The Demon Monk put forward his own conditions.

“This deal is me giving you the key you want. You must guarantee that I can leave this damned place and not be imprisoned here. I know the flaw in that deal you just proposed. Just because you won’t kill me doesn’t mean others won’t. And not killing me implies another thing—you can imprison me and torture me as long as I don’t die. I certainly don’t want that to happen. So, the condition for me to give you what you want is—let me leave safely!”
Lilith remained silent for a moment before finally lifting her head. “Alright, it seems you’ve made up your mind. Then I can accept this deal!”
“Hey! How can this work?” The armored woman couldn’t help but shout at Lilith. “He’s a twisted murderer! If you let him go, he’ll harm more girls and kill more people.”
“I can’t control those things. The ideal of maintaining world peace is too lofty. I just want what I want.” Lilith turned her head expressionlessly. “Besides, I caught him. How I deal with him is my business. You have no right to interfere.”
“You can attack him after I let him go. That way, I won’t be breaking my promise,” Lilith said with a smile.
The armored woman was speechless after being rebuked by Lilith, but she indeed had no argument against her words.
“Give me the item, and I’ll draw my dagger. Whether you can escape then is beyond my control.” Lilith placed a hand on the demon monk’s bald head. “Little baldy, this is the bottom line I’m willing to accept. If you still refuse, I’ll have no choice but to feed you something!”
“Alright, I accept!” The demon monk finally agreed to Lilith’s proposal.
Lilith stretched out one hand, smiling as if asking for candy, and looked at the demon monk.
The demon monk slowly closed his eyes. In less than a moment, a five-star-shaped object appeared in his hand, which he handed to Lilith.
“So it’s this thing!” Lilith took the key he handed over and examined it carefully. “I suddenly remembered something!”
The demon monk felt a chill in his heart. His intuition told him it surely wouldn’t be good news!

“I wonder why, knowing full well that many people are fighting over this thing, you still carry it around openly. You even deliberately expose that you possess it, as if you want everyone to know!” Lilith expressed her confusion. “Such behavior is undoubtedly putting yourself in the spotlight…”
“Do you think the treasure is useful to me?” The Demon Monk shook his head. “What I want are obedient puppets—that’s what matters most to me. In this way, I can gather a large number of strong fighters who come drawn by the rumors in the shortest time. Then I can use soul-binding magic to turn all those experts into my subordinates…”
