Chapter 20: Breakup
“Xiaofeng, you…” Lao Tie looked up at Ye Feng in shock. He never expected Ye Feng to actually escape from the pursuit of those gunmen and Bull.
“Uncle Tie, take the antidote first—just one pill is enough. I’ll handle the rest!” Ye Feng handed the antidote to Lao Tie. After glancing at the bottle, Lao Tie hesitated for a moment before deciding to trust Ye Feng. He opened the bottle, took out a red pill, and swallowed it.
“Are you Ye Feng? Where did you get the antidote? How did that idiot Bull let you get away?” Zuo Qiu stared at the young man in astonishment. He didn’t think Ye Feng had the ability to defeat Bull.
“Of course I found the antidote myself. As for Bull… since I’m here, he must be lying somewhere, unable to open his eyes…” Ye Feng’s lips curled into a slight smile. “And as you know, I am indeed Ye Feng. I’ve answered all your questions. Let me leave you with one last word as my last words…”
“Dare you kill me? Haha…” Zuo Qiu laughed maniacally with a twisted face.
Ye Feng pulled out his USP and aimed it at Zuo Qiu’s head. “Why not?”
With a slight movement of his index finger, two muffled shots were heard, and Zuo Qiu, filled with shock, collapsed to the ground.
“Number of dead souls absorbed: 1.
Zuo Qiu: Contribution value: 2, Sin value: 8,140.
Exchange value: 8,142 points!”
Without even glancing at the corpse, Ye Feng turned around and helped Lao Tie up. “Uncle Tie, are you okay?”
“I’m fine. Is he dead?” Lao Tie cautiously approached Zuo Qiu’s body, checked for breath, and was relieved to find he was dead.
“I’ll take you back to Brother Long. I’m worried there might be more ambushes…” Ye Feng supported the weak Lao Tie toward a car not far away—the Honda Zuo Qiu had used to arrive.
“Xiaofeng, what happened to that tall guy and those gunmen…” After getting in the car, Lao Tie hesitated for a while before finally deciding to ask.
“They’re all dead.” Ye Feng lowered his head. He didn’t know how to explain such things.
Lao Tie stared at Ye Feng for a while. Seeing that he had no intention of explaining further, he turned his gaze away and stared thoughtfully ahead.
The two traveled in silence as Ye Feng skillfully drove the car back to Brother Long’s hideout.
“Xiaofeng, come meet Brother Long too. I really owe you a lot for what you did this time. As for your own situation, Brother Long should understand.” After getting out of the car, Lao Tie saw that Ye Feng wasn’t moving and realized he must be hesitating about something. In his opinion, Ye Feng was unwilling to speak up because he must have his own reasons, and Brother Long should be able to understand that.
Ye Feng silently raised his head and, facing Lao Tie’s trusting gaze, nodded before getting out of the car as well.
The two went into the living room where Brother Long and the others were gathered.
When Brother Long saw Ye Feng returning with Lao Tie, he was surprised. “Lao Tie, why did you bring him back? Didn’t I say not to let him know?”
“Brother Long, I fell into their ambush. It was Xiaofeng who saved me,” Lao Tie said, glancing at Ye Feng with a strange expression.
“What? Explain yourself clearly!” Brother Long looked at Ye Feng suspiciously, clearly still not understanding what had happened.
So Lao Tie recounted everything he knew truthfully, leaving everyone frowning.
Brother Long then glared at Ye Feng angrily. “Did you kill those gunmen, as well as Zuo Qiu and Man Niu?”
Ye Feng nodded silently, not denying it.
“Tell me, whose man are you? What’s your purpose in approaching me?” Brother Long’s gaze was sharp as a knife.
“I’m not…” Ye Feng’s eyes were clear as he met Brother Long’s gaze.
“If not, then give me a reasonable explanation!” Brother Long roared hysterically, while the others around remained silent.
Ye Feng lowered his head. He didn’t know how to answer that question. He knew that telling Brother Long the truth would only bring more confusion and doubt. So he chose silence.
“Why don’t you answer my question?” Brother Long grabbed Ye Feng by the collar. “I want to know the truth! Tell me the truth!!!”
Ye Feng remained silent, allowing Brother Long to pull at his collar without resisting.
“You can’t say it, right? Then consider it as if Long Tian has never had a brother like you.” Seeing that Ye Feng still didn’t react, Brother Long released him and pushed him to the ground. “Never let me see you again!”
Ye Feng’s heart sank. Now that Long Tian was saying such things, he was powerless to argue or even explain anything…
Realizing nothing could be undone, Ye Feng got up from the ground. “I owe you. I’ll find a way to repay you all…”
Then he turned and left…
“Brother Long, maybe Xiao Feng really has his own reasons…” Lao Tie couldn’t help but speak up.
“Stop mentioning this person. Anyone here who I find has any further contact with him from now on will no longer be my brother, Long Tian!” Long Tian turned away and slowly closed his eyes…
…
“What? You mean Zuo Qiu and the others were all killed by Ye Feng?” A curvaceous woman in a black dress looked at the man in front of her.
“That’s right. Lao Tie said so, and Ye Feng himself admitted it,” the man nodded.
“As expected, that Ye Feng isn’t an ordinary guy. Even a master like Zuo Qiu was killed by him—what kind of background does he have?” The woman in black narrowed her eyes slightly.
“Sister Pearl, now that Ye Feng and Long Tian are at odds, should we take action against Ye Feng to avenge Zuo Qiu?” Though the man said this, his eyes kept sneaking glances at Pearl’s thighs.
“If he could kill Zuo Qiu, it means Ye Feng is very strong, and it’s likely he has someone backing him. I don’t think a young man with no support network could have the strength to kill Zuo Qiu at less than twenty. And don’t forget, our goal is Long Tian and his forces. Eliminating Long Tian and his forces is our top priority right now—we shouldn’t create extra complications. As for Ye Feng, I’ll go and find out more about his intentions. Maybe we can even work together…” Pearl remembered the first time she met that young man at the bar.
“Sister Pearl, then I…”
“You’d better stay with Long Tian and continue acting as an insider. But be careful—our plan to set a trap for Tie Zhe should have alerted Long Tian. But in the short term, he probably won’t realize it’s you.”
