Chapter 177: The End of the Story
On this day, with a calm breeze, Bell and Belle secretly pulled Ye Feng to a corner.
“What’s the matter, you two?” Ye Feng asked, puzzled, looking at the two bears.
Belle glanced at Bell. “You tell him!”
Bell nodded, remained silent for a moment, then said to Ye Feng, “We’ve thought about this for days and decided that after we leave, we want you to take care of Bernardo.”
“Weren’t you already asking Green Vine to help? Why come to me again?” Ye Feng was even more confused.
Belle looked around to ensure nothing was amiss before continuing, “After careful consideration over these days, we still think you’re more suitable than Sister Green Vine. You already have experience taking care of Xiao Yu, so taking care of Bernardo should be easy for you as well. Besides, our son and Xiao Yu are good friends; they can look after each other…”
Bell added bluntly, “I think Sister Green Vine has a hot temper. I don’t want our child to turn out like that, and she lacks experience in raising children. Moreover, we don’t know where she’ll go with Miss Situ—by then, we might not even be able to see our son. But after you ascend to the heavens, we’ll be able to see our son. Anyway, in every way, you seem far more suitable.”
Hearing what both Belle and Bell said, Ye Feng had no choice but to agree. After all, since he was already taking care of Xiao Yu, he didn’t mind taking care of one more.
The next day was the day chosen by Bell and Belle for their ascension. After entrusting Bernardo to Ye Feng, they felt free of any burden and could leave at any time, so they chose the next day.
After explaining everything to everyone, the two bears finally broke free from their self-imposed seals.
A fierce wind swept through the sky, and moments later, a golden gate slowly appeared in the void. It seemed to be pushed open by some invisible force.
On one side of the gate, nothing could be seen except for a blinding light. The light split into two beams, enveloping Bell and Belle.
Their figures gradually disappeared into the gate. “Ye Feng, please take good care of Bernardo. When you reach the heavens, come look for us.”
“No problem,” Ye Feng said, waving goodbye to them.
Then the gate slowly closed and vanished, as if it had all been just a dream.
Ye Feng let out a deep sigh and gently stroked Bernard’s little head in his arms. “Little Bei, I believe it won’t be long before you can see your parents again.”
“Now that I’ve seen them off, it’s time for me to pack up and leave!” Ye Feng nodded and smiled sheepishly at the two women.
“Leaving so soon?” It was the pothos, who had been arguing with him these past days, who spoke in surprise.
Si Tu Xuan didn’t say much, only lowering her head with a somewhat sad expression. She had already known that Ye Feng would leave afterBell andBelle ascended.
“Well, the injury to my dantian healed a few days ago, and there’s no major issue with my cultivation. I originally planned to leave after seeingBell andBelle off!” Ye Feng explained with a smile.
The pothos pouted and stopped paying attention to Ye Feng.
“I’ll go tidy up my room. You won’t need to clean it up after I leave,” Ye Feng said as he headed toward his small wooden house.
After folding the sheets and covers and dealing with the trash in the room, and ensuring nothing was left behind, Ye Feng finally left the room. “It’s all tidy now…”
He went over to Si Tu Xuan. “Will you stay here forever?”
Si Tu Xuan shook her head. “No!”
“How can I see you again then?” Ye Feng asked.
Her clear eyes seemed to see through Ye Feng’s heart, and a faint smile appeared at the corners of her lips. “When fate brings us together, we’ll naturally meet again.”
“Come with me!” After a moment of silence, Ye Feng mustered the courage to speak.
Si Tu Xuan was stunned for a moment before shaking her head in refusal. “I’m sorry, I can’t do that…”
Ye Feng lowered his head in disappointment. He didn’t ask why, though he didn’t understand why Si Tu Xuan refused.
“Well… take care…” Ye Feng took a deep breath, raised his head, smiled at the two of them, then slowly turned to leave.
“Ye Feng… remember… my name is Si Tu Xuan…” Si Tu Xuan suddenly called out to him.
Ye Feng turned around and saw her remove her veil. He was surprised, but more so delighted. He knew he would remember that beautiful face forever, even if they never met again…
“Thank you!” Ye Feng smiled and nodded at Si Tu Xuan, then turned away resolutely…
“Miss, doing this will expose your location…” The pothos clearly didn’t expect Si Tu Xuan to remove her veil in front of a man.
As soon as she finished speaking, a terrifying gap suddenly appeared in the sky. It seemed to be controlled deliberately, gradually widening. A middle-aged man stepped forward first, followed by a carefree-looking young man and two bodyguards behind him. “Miss, it’s time to stop playing around,” the middle-aged man said, taking a step forward. “Uncle Wu, I understand. This time I’ll go back with you, but I want to take her with me,” Situ Xuan said, pointing at the pothos. The middle-aged man known as Uncle Wu frowned slightly before examining the pothos carefully. “So it’s just a plant spirit. Let Uncle Wu decide on this. You can take her back. If your father asks, just say I agreed.” “After we go back, the first thing we should consider is choosing a date for our marriage, right?” the carefree young man asked with a lecherous smile. “Marriage? Sure, but there’s one condition. My father must approve of the marriage, but I’ll choose my spouse myself and have my own standards,” Situ Xuan said firmly. “What are they?” the young man asked immediately, stepping closer. “I like strong people. So while my husband doesn’t need to be as powerful as my father, the minimum requirement for me is that he’s one level below my father. If you want to marry me, come back and propose at that level!” A sly smile flashed across Situ Xuan’s face. The middle-aged man known as Uncle Wu showed approval in his eyes but quickly became serious. “After wandering outside for so long, it’s time you went home! Let’s go!” With a casual wave of his left hand, a terrifying rift appeared in the sky. Situ Xuan took the pothos and stepped through it. The young man followed in, looking displeased. Situ Xuan gazed into the direction Ye Feng had left, until the rift slowly closed…
