Chapter 170: Rescued
The moment Su Rui moved, the image in Ye Feng’s mind suddenly became clear—his left hand blocking and his right fist striking, every detail magnified several times over in an instant. Ye Feng felt a flash of insight, as if he had grasped something, yet it wasn’t entirely clear. Just then, the image vanished, replaced by a short blade about a foot long being thrust toward his throat. What puzzled Ye Feng was that the blade thrown by Su Rui’s right hand was moving forward at an extremely slow pace. He found it unbelievable, knowing that with his own strength, he couldn’t keep up with the movements of a cultivator at the Tribulation stage. Under normal circumstances, by the time he would notice the attack, he would already be dead.
Ye Feng immediately realized it was the boxing technique at work. Following the technique, he drew a circle with his left hand, deflecting the blade aimed at his throat aside, then threw a punch to meet Su Rui’s left hand’s claw. At that moment, the sense of slowdown vanished abruptly, and the punch and claw collided at terrifying speed. Ye Feng let out a scream as he was flung backward; almost all the bones in his right hand were shattered, and his arm was covered in blood. Spitting out a mouthful of blood, he lost consciousness mid-air.
Su Rui looked down in shock at her feet. She knew the collision had severely injured Ye Feng, but what shocked her was that his punch had actually pushed her back three steps. She stood frozen for a moment before glancing at Ye Feng, who had fallen to the ground. “I didn’t hold back at all in that strike—full power! He must be dead!” With that thought, she slowly walked toward Ye Feng. When she reached him, she frowned slightly and checked his breath. “There’s still a faint heartbeat!” After hesitating for a moment, she finally formed her fingers into a claw and aimed it at Ye Feng’s throat. Just as her fingers were about to touch his throat, a swift figure darted out from his arms. Su Rui quickly retracted her hand and dodged, turning to look at the figure.
It was a small bird the size of a palm, its entire body covered in soft yellow feathers that appeared slightly shinier than the down on a newborn chick. At that moment, the bird flapped its tiny wings, flying above the unconscious Ye Feng, its large round eyes staring at Su Rui with hostility. If Ye Feng had seen this, he would surely have exclaimed that the little creature had finally opened its eyes after waking up, and its down had turned into fine feathers.
“Stop staring at me! I hate fluffy little pets the most!” Su Rui said as if to herself. “You little chick who knows nothing about the world—do you really think you can protect Ye Feng?”
As if it understood Su Rui’s words, the little creature let out a high-pitched scream, seemingly as a warning. To Su Rui, however, the scream sounded rather harsh; she even felt a slight dizziness after hearing it.
“So it’s a spiritual beast that can launch mental attacks?” Su Rui quickly realized this, but she still didn’t take the little thing seriously. She stepped closer to Ye Feng, saying, “I’ll kill your master first, then deal with you, you fluffy little thing.”
Seeing that her warning hadn’t made the other party leave, the little creature became even angrier. It began flapping its wings faster, letting out a series of sharp cries.
Su Rui slowed down, knowing that the little creature might be preparing another attack.
Sure enough, as she approached Ye Feng again, a torrent of dense yellow light dots poured down from the direction of the bird.
Su Rui widened her eyes and realized that those light-like things actually resembled bird feathers. They were falling from the direction of the little creature.
Those feather-like objects flew toward her like knives controlled by someone.
Su Rui didn’t take it too seriously; she didn’t think such things could hurt her. She raised her hand in front of her body, aiming to end Ye Feng’s life.
But in an instant, she felt pain in her arm—the feather-like light dots had cut her arm.
Su Rui finally pulled back her arm, but instead of feeling frustrated, she slowly stood up and said to the little creature, “Since you keep interfering with me, I’ll kill you first!”
Hearing this, the little creature let out a few more screams, and the yellow feather-like dots accelerated in pursuit of Su Rui.
Su Rui let out a cold snort, swirling her short blade with precision. “Hmph, an attack like yours can at most cause me some superficial injuries. It seems you’re not very skilled after all!”
Hearing Su Rui’s provocation, the little creature finally became enraged, its cry changing once more as its wings flapped faster.
At that moment, Su Rui sensed a powerful force gathering on the creature at a terrifying speed. She frowned slightly. “Such a small thing can gather such terrifying power!”
Under Su Rui’s watch, the creature finally completed the accumulation of energy—a massive golden feather nearly three meters long.
With a shriek, the giant feather rushed toward Su Rui. There was a loud crash, and dust billowed into the air.
As the dust settled slightly, a tall woman appeared. She looked up at where the little creature had been, only to find it gone.
What surprised her even more was that Ye Feng, who had been severely injured, had also disappeared.
“They escaped. How did that little thing carry away an adult man?” Su Rui narrowed her eyes.
Just as she posed this question, Ye Feng was still unconscious, lying on the back of a yellow bird of prey.
That yellow giant bird of prey was undoubtedly the little creature. Although it could grow larger now, it couldn’t fly in this state for long. Moreover, it seemed that the attack earlier had taken a toll on it. Its condition in the air wasn’t very stable, and after flying with Ye Feng for a few minutes, it finally lost control and plummeted from the sky.
Seeing that the marked spot had stopped moving, Su Rui was about to chase after it when she noticed something odd. “That place seems to be… the Terror Forest… the only forbidden area on this planet, a place where no humans go. The place where, according to legend, even several experts at the Tribulation stage have never returned…”
