Chapter 14: The Energy Detector on Planet Taikenoleki

Long Ge didn’t believe what Qing Lang had just said. To him, Qing Lang’s story was full of flaws, but the injuries on his hands were undeniably real. He couldn’t rule out the possibility that it was a ruse by Pearl. If that was the case, Ye Feng might still be in Pearl’s hands.
“I’ve checked his injuries. They indeed were caused by someone who practices external martial arts. That strength far exceeds that of an ordinary person.” Lao Tie, knowing Long Ge was puzzled, shared his analysis. “Although his injuries are real, it’s possible it’s a ruse as well.”
“What about Ye Feng? Was he already gone by the time you arrived?” Long Tian buried his fingers deep in his hair, troubled by the fact that Ye Feng had been drawn into this mess.
“Yeah. Qing Lang said he was rescued. We arrived less than ten minutes late. By the time we got there, there was no trace of him.” Lao Tie didn’t hide the fact that he was late.
“Send someone to their school to see if he’s there. If not, he might still be in Pearl’s hands.” Long Tian sighed deeply. “I hope he’s okay…”
…
“That idiot Qing Lang! Will you just stay hidden behind Long Tian forever?” Pearl’s dark eyes flashed with icy coldness.
“Sister Pearl! Why get so angry?” A bald man in his forties with a lecherous smile said. Though nearly twice her age, he shamelessly called her “sister” in a familiar tone. “A worthless scumbag like Qing Lang can’t pose any threat to us.”
“I think there’s something strange about this,” Pearl said, though still angry, she quickly calmed down. “He captured Ye Feng in the afternoon. A few minutes later, someone drove their business car away. Soon after, Long Tian’s men rushed into their hideout and took them all away. In such a short time, he seemed to be taken away without any resistance. And he even surrendered to Long Tian right away. What exactly happened in between?”
“As far as I know, Qing Lang seemed to go to a hospital along the way. He only met Long Tian after his right hand was wrapped in a cast,” the bald man laughed. “Probably scared by Long Ge’s men!”

“The Green Wolf’s betrayal must have revealed my secrets to Long Tian. Fortunately, he doesn’t know much. But now our plans are disrupted. It seems we don’t need to worry so much anymore. Niu Xing, find a way to capture Ye Feng as a hostage. There should be people from Long Tian protecting him, so you don’t need to overthink it—just do what needs to be done. I’ll cover for you.” Pearl planned to find a new breakthrough. “There’s no time to figure out who Ye Feng really is right now. If we don’t act soon, Long Tian is likely to strike first.”
“Okay, I’ll send someone over right away! I’ll find a chance to bring him back.” Bald Niu Xing nodded readily.
“If we can’t bring him back, then kill him. I don’t want any surprises, but he might just become one.” A killing intent flashed in Pearl’s eyes.
“Sis Pearl, you should have said so earlier! I thought he had to stay alive.” Niu Xing also seemed excited after hearing this.
……
It was a pitch-black night. Under the gloomy weather, the evening moonlight appeared dim, with only a few stars scattered across the sky.
At this time, the guys in the dormitory also returned home like tired birds, while Ye Feng felt uneasy.
“What’s going on?” Ye Feng paced restlessly around the dormitory.
“Lao Qi, why are you walking back and forth? Can you calm down for a bit?” The second guy, who was playing games, looked up at Ye Feng in confusion.
“That’s right, Seventh Brother. I’m watching a horror movie. Could you stop walking around in those white clothes? You’ll have nightmares…” The youngest, Eighth Brother, also started to protest.
“Little Ye, don’t block my mirror view. My messy hair, my unkempt beard…” The sixth guy also waved his hand at Ye Feng in protest.
“I’m going to the bathroom…” With no other choice, Ye Feng fled in embarrassment.
In the bathroom, he went into the innermost stall, closed the door, and sent his mental energy into the Void Realm.
He told Boy about his strange feeling.
“If it’s really as you described, it only means someone wants to kill you!” Boy gave his answer.

“That feeling is what arises when someone’s murderous intent is fixed on you. Ordinary people might not notice it, but since your sensitivity is now eight times that of an ordinary person, you’re naturally much more perceptive. It’s very likely that someone has their eyes on you, which is why you feel that way.” Boy’s answer was hard for Ye Feng to accept.
“Who could it be?” A cold glint flashed in Ye Feng’s eyes. “Regardless of who sent them, let’s deal with this crisis first.”
“Boy, is there any way to find out where that person is?” Ye Feng didn’t know how to search for such items.
“There’s an energy detector that can detect the combat stats, direction, and location of living beings. There are already three generations of this product—the new generation costs hundreds of thousands of domain values, the second generation costs over thirty thousand, and the first generation costs over eight thousand. You can check it out.” Boy recommended a detector that sounded quite good.
“Why such a big price difference? What’s the difference between the three generations?” Ye Feng couldn’t help but ask.
“Besides detection, the new generation has many additional functions, like watching 3D movies and listening to music. As technology improves, the detection range also expands, and the upper limit of the energy values it can detect keeps rising. Its detection functions become more sophisticated as well.”
“I’ll just use the first generation; it should be sufficient.” Ye Feng quickly converted all twelve remaining diamonds into domain values.
“Domain values successfully converted. Current first-tier domain value: 9,995 points.” The diamonds in his storage space vanished instantly, and the originally five storage slots turned into six.
“What’s that thing called?” Ye Feng turned to Boy.
“Keywords: Tainokenoriki Planet, Energy Detector. Just think of these two keywords in your mind.”
As soon as Boy finished speaking, the shelves underwent a huge change—what was once an endless array of shelves was now reduced to just one.
“Host’s domain value permissions are insufficient; further products cannot be viewed.” A large message appeared in the void before gradually fading away.
Ye Feng ignored the message and focused on the pair of sunglasses on the shelf, which looked incredibly cool.
“Wow, this thing is really exquisite…” Ye Feng couldn’t help but exclaim.
He didn’t recognize the strange letters on the shelves, but he saw a Roman numeral I at the end. He guessed that this was likely the symbol for the first-generation product.

“This pair of glasses is so cool!” Ye Feng couldn’t resist putting them on, then turned to look at Boy. But there was no reaction at all.
“It doesn’t seem to work very well, does it?” Ye Feng took the glasses off.
“You’re using the wrong person; of course you can’t see the numbers…” Boy shook his head. “You’ll be able to see them outside. Read the product instructions carefully before using it!”
“Then I’ll buy it!” Ye Feng looked at his domain value with some regret.
“To exchange for this item, you need 8,400 domain points!” A 3D dialog box appeared in front of Ye Feng.
Ye Feng chose yes.
“Exchange successful. You can choose to store the item or carry it with you.”
Ye Feng chose to carry it with him.
“I’ll deal with this matter for now. I’ll come see you again when I have time!” With that, Ye Feng left.
“This is too amazing.” Ye Feng was fascinated by this detector that resembled sunglasses. “But if I wear it outside, people will definitely stare at me.”
Ye Feng put the detector on again. With a beep, a 3D dialog box appeared, asking if he wanted to bind it. After binding, only those who passed the iris test could use its detection function.
Ye Feng nodded without hesitation. If others knew he had such a thing, it would surely cause a stir.
Not long after his decision, another beep sounded, and a dialog box appeared: “Binding completed. Please set the detector’s default mode. Three options are available.”
A 3D page then appeared, showing hundreds of different styles of glasses to choose from.
Ye Feng was dazzled. He selected two default modes: plain black-framed glasses and those super-cool sunglasses.
After the dialog box disappeared, Ye Feng saw another thin 3D page appear in front of him. At the top were several options: range detection, individual detection, appearance mode, and disable function.
Ye Feng clicked on appearance mode. The two images below showed the default modes he had set. He chose the plain black-framed glasses, and the glasses on his nose immediately changed appearance.
“Choosing range detection should allow me to see that guy hiding in the dark!” Ye Feng looked at the option in the top-left corner of the page and pressed it firmly…
