Chapter 040: Cooperation

“Are you willing to start a war between supernatural beings from the East and West?” Chen Xiao’s expression changed, his gaze turning icy instantly.
He had never experienced or even seen a war among supernatural beings, but Chen Xiao had a premonition that ordinary people would also suffer.
“That’s right. Even if it means triggering a war between the supernatural worlds of the East and West, or even the secular world, our Thirteen Vampire Clans are willing to do it,” Chris said with unwavering determination, a hint of fanaticism shining through. To Chen Xiao, it resembled the fanaticism inadvertently shown by his three divine disciples—Sōuhén, Mùmù, and Guǐguǐ—when looking at him.
This didn’t seem like a good sign.
Chen Xiao frowned. Shuǐmiǎo was busy reviving that Xuānwǔ Egg and couldn’t be met right now. He wasn’t sure how to deal with this guy—after all, his identity was far too special.
At that moment, Sōuhén stood silently beside Chen Xiao, his expression utterly indifferent, except when he looked at Chen Xiao, his eyes would show traces of fanaticism.
By now, the rain had lessened from its intensity. Chris had reverted to his human form, drenched and disheveled, yet exuding an air of nobility innate to him.
“I think we can cooperate,” Chris suddenly said.
“Cooperate with you? As a prisoner, what right do you have to cooperate with me?” Chen Xiao sneered, though he was extremely curious. A clan leader coming all the way to the East must have important reasons.
“With the support of the Thirteen Clans behind me, I have enough strength to cooperate with you,” Chris said proudly, head held high. The Thirteen Vampire Clans held half of the power in Europe’s supernatural world—a force far beyond what Chen Xiao could imagine.
Chen Xiao frowned. Though he hadn’t seen much of the world, he understood that half of Europe’s supernatural power meant something he couldn’t possibly confront now.
“You do indeed have the right to cooperate with me,” Chen Xiao nodded pretentiously. “Tell me, why have you come to the East? What kind of cooperation are we talking about?”
Seeming to sense Chen Xiao’s willingness to cooperate, Chris finally smiled.
“Esteemed sir, this seems like an inappropriate place to talk,” Chris said, glancing around with a wry smile.
Chen Xiao was stunned. It was still raining, and they were in the middle of nowhere—definitely not the right place for discussions. Seeing Chris drenched like a drowned rat, Chen Xiao shook his head and said, “Sōuhén, lift his seal.”
“Yes, young master.”
Sōuhén bowed slightly to Chen Xiao, then waved his hand. A deep blue light was drawn out from Chris’s body. Once freed, Chris immediately looked revitalized, his strength restored. Raindrops approaching within three inches of his body were repelled.

“Sōuhén, go back,” Chen Xiao said.
“Yes, young master.” Sōuhén’s figure slowly disappeared into the darkness.
As a divine disciple, Sōuhén would never defy Chen Xiao’s orders.
“I admire your courage. Aren’t you afraid I might kill you?” Chris smiled.
“As a noble, you wouldn’t do such a thing,” Chen Xiao replied with a bright smile, seemingly not taking Chris seriously at all.
Indeed, Chen Xiao’s mental energy was constantly connected to the Supreme God’s Space. If he chose to be cautious, even though Chris was a sixth-tier powerhouse, he wouldn’t stand a chance. With the Supreme God’s identity and access to the Supreme God’s Space, Chen Xiao wasn’t someone a sixth-tier supernatural being could ambush.
There was no longer any need for Sōuhén to stay outside.
“Moreover, my subordinates already know I’m with you. If anything happens to me…”
It was a psychological tactic. From Chris’s behavior earlier, Chen Xiao could tell that he thought he had a superpowerful backing force. So Chen Xiao let him believe it, going along with the assumption. As the head of an ancient family, Chris wouldn’t risk his family’s fate.
“You’re quite bold. I really don’t dare do anything to you.”
……
“Heh… You really know how to enjoy life.”
In the heart of Jinghua City, the Wind Sea Grand Hotel—the world’s second seven-star luxury hotel.
In the presidential suite, Chen Xiao was comfortably curled up on a sofa, smiling.
“As a noble, one deserves top-notch comfort and service wherever they go, right?”
Chris moved gracefully, holding a glass and sipping the expensive wine whose name Chen Xiao couldn’t even identify.
“As a vampire, how dare you stay in such a hotel openly? Aren’t you afraid of being attacked by Eastern supernatural beings?” Chen Xiao was curious.
“Hehe, my mundane identity is that of an Italian diplomat. I’m here to explore China and promote friendship between our two countries. Who would dare attack me? Besides, in such a hotel, guests enjoy absolute privacy. Even supernatural beings can’t investigate anything. It’s a symbol of status,” Chris said fluently in Chinese without any hesitation.
“That makes sense,” Chen Xiao nodded. “It seems I’m not the first Chinese supernatural being to know you’re coming to China?”
“No,” Chris shook his head. “Among the Thirteen Clans, the identities of key members of each family are kept secret, let alone the head of the family. Even in Europe, few people know my identity.”
Chen Xiao nodded. Though he didn’t understand why, he didn’t ask further.
“Then maybe you can tell me why you’re here in China this time,” Chen Xiao said as he stood up from the sofa.
“The sacred relic of my vampire ancestors is about to be unearthed somewhere in China. I’m here to investigate this matter,” Chris said, his handsome face turning serious.
“Your vampire’s sacred relic is on Chinese soil?” Chen Xiao’s eyes widened.

“Yes, so we must retrieve the sacred relics of the vampires at any cost,” Chris nodded.
“If your sacred relics end up in the land of China, and you come here so boldly to take them back, then shouldn’t we go to Europe to retrieve the treasures of our civilization that are displayed in your European museums?” Chen Xiao’s expression turned grim.
“Well…” Chris was stunned; he clearly hadn’t expected Chen Xiao to ask such a question.
“Such worldly wars are beyond the intervention of those with supernatural powers,” Chris said with a wry smile. “If you’re willing to cooperate with us, I can arrange for the treasures stolen by European countries from China to be returned.”
