Chapter 215: Inscrutable Depth
Fear and despair filled the depths of his soul.
It was a psychological pressure.
The serpent-bodied deity turned around, ready to confront the attacker, but suddenly felt as though the void around him, space, and all forces were trapping his body tightly.
“What’s going on?!”
The serpent-bodied deity retracted his attack, and instantly, the confinement of the void vanished, as if it had never existed.
Bang!
A glint of ice-blue light suddenly appeared in the void—a palm that struck the serpent-bodied deity’s chest without any resistance.
The deity’s expression changed.
“Such powerful, bizarre flames—burning my divine laws!” The divine force within him moved to extinguish the flames, but in the next moment, he was shocked to find that the divine force also began to burn upon contact with the flames, becoming fuel for them and intensifying their fury.
However, only a small portion of the flames flowed into his body. Using some unknown method, the serpent-bodied deity opened his mouth wide and spat out the flames, which disappeared into the air.
When he looked up, he found no one around. Yuanxuan and the others stared at each other, unsure of what had happened.
“Hm? What’s going on? Why did he retract his attack?”
Chen Xiao hid in the void, his entire body reduced to dust under the protection of the ice-blue flame energy, floating in the air. This greatly weakened deity could not detect his presence at all.
Earlier, Chen Xiao had summoned Snowflakes Drifting, intending to use them to defend against this attack. To his surprise, the deity retracted his attack halfway through.
With Snowflakes Drifting, the true divine artifact, fully activated, he could indeed withstand such a blow from a deity.
Seeing the deity force out his flames, Chen Xiao quickly retracted them back into his body.
“Hm? The power of these flames has increased?” As soon as he brought the flames back, he noticed the change. Like the previous virtual divine artifact, it added a trace of trajectory power to the flames. But after burning a portion of the deity’s divine laws, the added power far exceeded that of the virtual divine laws.
Having suffered this unexpected attack, the serpent-bodied deity dared not act rashly again. He could sense that the opponent’s power was pitifully weak—he could even be destroyed with a single slap.
But the key issue was… he couldn’t retaliate!
In other words, he couldn’t attack Chen Xiao at all. The very act of attacking, or even the thought of attacking, would be blocked by the void around them.
Now, the serpent-bodied deity was nothing but a living target.
Though he didn’t understand what was happening, he knew clearly that the newcomer must be closely related to the master who created this hidden realm.
The serpent-bodied deity gritted its teeth and vanished in an instant. It was better to flee than to endure humiliation at the hands of such a insignificant creature here.
Chen Xiao remained puzzled. Seeing this deity leave took him by surprise.
“Ah, I was still thinking about stealing some more divine laws from its body.” Chen Xiao raised his hand, extinguished the flame in it, and slowly reappeared.
On the other side, Liu Yu and Xuanyuan Po were still enveloped in faint spiritual auras, watching warily as the figure slowly emerged.
“Hm? Chen Xiao? It’s really you?”
Their expressions changed the moment they saw him. They both understood that the terrifying deity had left almost certainly because of this seemingly weak young man.
“Of course it’s me. How are you two?” By now, Chen Xiao had concealed all traces of his power. To these cultivators, he was just an ordinary ninth-tier abler, nothing more than an insect.
But at this moment, the two no longer dared underestimate him. What kind of force could produce someone like this? Their minds were in turmoil. Back in their own clans, they had been regarded as unparalleled geniuses, reaching the seventh or eighth level of the Domain realm at a young age—true geniuses in the depths of the Source Continent. And yet, this young man, who seemed even younger than them, had driven away a deity? Was he a god? Or a Virtual God?
“Why are you two silent? Don’t you recognize me?” Chen Xiao smiled. By pretending to have weak powers, he appeared even more mysterious in the eyes of others.
“Chen Xiao, how did you do it? How did you drive away a deity?” Xuanyuan Po blurted out directly. Liu Yu also stared at him curiously.
They understood that a true deity could never come here, and even a Virtual God could only enter via a Virtual God Transmission Array.
“Because…” Chen Xiao smiled. He raised his hand, and the form of the divine artifact, Snowflakes Drifting, flickered at his fingertips, emitting a faint divine aura.
“A divine artifact?” Liu Yu was stunned, then exclaimed in disbelief, “A divine artifact? Even a Virtual God can only barely activate it. How can you use it?”
He knew that with a powerful divine artifact, one could confront a low-tier True God, but it would never scare a True God into fleeing. Chen Xiao must have other hidden cards.
But they wouldn’t press further. If someone tried to interrogate them, they might also feel annoyed. As for Chen Xiao’s divine artifact, with their status, they wouldn’t covet it—they also had their own divine artifacts.
The two retracted their spiritual auras and sighed in relief.
“We owe Chen Xiao a great deal for coming to help. Otherwise, we would have perished here.”
Xuanyuan Po laughed heartily.
Chen Xiao curled her lips. Seeing their calm demeanor, it was clear they had other cards up their sleeves. Her appearance here was merely to do them a favor, to let them know that she was their true ally—someone who would risk everything to save them once they sensed danger.
“Where is that? It was just a coincidence. I happened to pass by this treasure trove and saw you in trouble, so I offered a little help. We’re allies, aren’t we?”
Chen Xiao smiled faintly as the snowflakes drifted away and disappeared back into her body.
“It seems that once I grow stronger, the deities will become my targets.” Sensing her ice-blue flame grow stronger, Chen Xiao made up her mind in silence.
