Chapter 003: All Magic
“Also, Your Majesty, on my way from the Silro Province to the capital, I encountered two bands of thieves. One of their assassins turned out to be an Night Elf from the underground world,” Du Fan said to Fischer.
Fischer frowned and suddenly threw the food in his hand aside. “How dare they! Who sent those people? To dare attack a duke of the Gavin Empire—this is an outrage!” he snapped in anger.
“Someone!” Fischer shouted immediately after venting his anger.
“Your Majesty,” a guard appeared at Fischer’s call.
“Give orders! Investigate the Night Elves thoroughly!” Fischer ordered loudly.
“Yes, Your Majesty,” the guard replied loudly before rushing outside, likely to gather troops to investigate Du Fan’s attack in the Gavin Empire.
The three of them ended their dinner in such a tense atmosphere.
“Well, son?” As soon as Du Fan returned, Duke Green approached him immediately, asking what instructions Fischer had given him.
“It depends. It seems Lord Fischer hasn’t intended to take action against us yet,” Du Fan replied quickly at his father’s question.
“It’s hard to act against him, Your Majesty!” Duke Green sighed upon hearing this.
Indeed, in the palace, Fischer was furious, throwing things on the table.
“Have you grown up? Have you grown too bold? Now you dare treat me like this, Du Fan! If it weren’t for you standing firmly by my side back then, I would have dealt with you long ago!” Fischer shouted angrily as he continued to throw things.
Indeed, in Fischer’s eyes, both the Lionheart Family and the Green Family were too powerful to be easily challenged. Originally, these families were merely tools for him to maintain imperial balance. Allowing Randy to kill Du Fan was simply to prevent the Green family from growing too strong. If the Green family became too powerful, it could lead to their monopolizing power. For an emperor, allowing his subordinates to gain too much power was always a bad thing. Balance was, after all, one of the emperor’s strategies.
There, he thought that Randy was such a disappointment—even with Gaffield’s help, he still couldn’t take Du Fan’s life. Moreover, Du Fan had encountered many good fortunes: not only had his cultivation level risen significantly, but he had also married the queen of the elves. Now, even if Fischer wanted to take action against Du Fan in the future, he would have to consider the elves represented by Naixiu. Fischer wasn’t confident he could deal with both the northern and southern armies of the Green family while also facing the elves’ archers and magicians. “Hmph! Du Fan, since you’re so disrespectful to me today, don’t blame me in the future,” Fischer said coldly after throwing many things around. “Father, then what do you think we should do next?” Du Fan asked Duke Green. “If His Majesty is just angry with you, it’s still manageable. Judging from His Majesty’s overall strategy to compete for the throne with the crown prince, he’s a very formidable figure. We might need to prepare, otherwise, who knows if one day he might turn on us,” Duke Green sighed. To be honest, since the Green family rose to power, they had always been loyal to the royal family and had never thought of rebelling. Duke Green never imagined he would one day have to prepare to defend himself from the emperor. “Well, if that’s the case, I think Father and Mother shouldn’t stay in the capital any longer. Otherwise, if something happens, I might not even have time to rescue them,” Du Fan said. “If we leave the capital, where will your mother and I go? To the north? Don’t you think about it? If your mother and I go to the north, won’t His Majesty see through our intentions?” Duke Green asked Du Fan. “But Father, I’m worried that if Prince Fischer has malicious intentions and suddenly tries to deal with you and Mother, you two will be in great danger. So, I still suggest that you and Mother leave the capital together. Once in the north, under our family’s long-term rule, I believe it won’t be easy for even His Majesty to take action against you,” Du Fan said. “Son, be careful of yourself. From what’s happened this time, if His Majesty wants to weaken us, he’ll definitely start with you. So, take care of yourself first,” Duke Green said with a smile. Seeing his father’s reaction, Du Fan stopped discussing the matter further.
Early the next morning, news came from the Vatican again—Archbishop Anthony wanted to talk to Du Fan. Of course, this time the topic was more practical, unlike last time when they spent hours discussing whether Du Fan was hiding something. Du Fan kept thinking about how to convince this Vatican cardinal to believe him.
“Du Fan, the Pope has sent word asking you to send people to take those Bluebloods to the Vatican States and hand them over to the Divine Punishment Prison there for custody and further investigation,” Anthony said as soon as he saw Du Fan.
“My Lord Bishop, that’s certainly no problem. But since Bluebloods have appeared in my territory, I fear they might show up in large numbers in the future. I remember you once telling me that before dying, those Bluebloods always said the same thing: ‘We will return.’ If they do return, it’s likely to be from my territory!” Du Fan said.
“Hmm, in that case, how do you need the Vatican’s help?” Hearing this, Anthony immediately understood Du Fan’s intention.
“I think, My Lord Bishop, the Vatican’s influence in our Siluo Province is still very limited. How about this: the Vatican assigns people to preach here and sends skilled warriors to guard the area. That way, we’ll be prepared if more Bluebloods appear, right?” Du Fan suggested.
“Of course, that’s no problem. How many people do you need? I can allocate some from various dioceses for preaching. Additionally, I’ll send a 2,000-strong Order of the Light Knights under your command. What do you think?” Anthony said with a smile. “Of course, once the clergy arrive, you’ll need to arrange their food, lodging, and cover the costs of building churches. And Du Fan, I’ll grant you a special privilege—you’ll have full authority over all religious matters within your jurisdiction.”
Hearing these last words, Du Fan was overjoyed. Of all the things said, it was this final statement that made him happiest. Now, in the southern Siluo Province, he would be the leader who combined political and religious power, making it extremely difficult for any force to expand there.
“Thank you very much, My Lord Bishop!” Du Fan expressed his sincere gratitude.
“Du Fan, do your best. I heard from over there that the Pope is very satisfied with your performance. Who knows, your position in the Holy See might be promoted soon. You should know that for thousands of years, we’ve been searching for the whereabouts of the Blue-Blooded, and you’re the first to find them,” Anthony said with a smile.
“I still owe my promotion to the Archbishop!” Du Fan replied.
After the Pope confirmed this, Du Fan returned to the Duke of Green’s residence. As soon as he arrived, Rob rushed over excitedly and said mysteriously to Du Fan, “Du Fan, I’ve discovered something really amazing.”
Hearing Rob’s mysterious tone, Du Fan quickly asked, “What have you discovered?”
“Haha, Du Fan, it’s really worth it that I spent ten years to get your True Eye! You know, with the True Eye, I can analyze the energy composition of others’ combat energy or magic. After analyzing it, I can create imitations!” Rob said happily.
“Is that true? Are you that powerful?” Du Fan asked, puzzled by Rob’s excitement.
“Of course, Du Fan. I’ve already cracked the codes of water and earth energies,” Rob said with a smile. As soon as he finished speaking, he stretched out his hand, and soon, a water ball appeared in it. The ball wasn’t large, about ten centimeters in diameter, but it was indeed a real water ball!
That water ball, formed from the energy of water elements, could only be created with magic or combat energy related to water elements; otherwise, it would be impossible to produce one.
“Du Fan, what do you think? See, I’ve created a water ball!” Rob said with a smile.
“Damn it, Rob! I’ve lost out! I want twenty years from you!” Du Fan shouted.
“Haha, Du Fan, we already made a deal—no changes allowed! I won’t agree to it,” Rob laughed loudly.
After saying that, Rob kicked with his right foot, and immediately, a wall of earth appeared in front of him. This was a typical spell from earth magic—Earth Wall. Like the water ball, such a spell could only be cast by someone with earth energy!
“Du Fan, what do you think? I can now control the energies of four elements,” Rob said with a smile.
“Rob, don’t lie to me. At most, you analyzed the components of the earth and water element energies and then combined them using your own energy. In fact, all there is in your body are wind and thunder element energies,” Du Fan said with a smile.
“Damn! You even know about this?” Rob said, feeling frustrated after hearing Du Fan’s words.
Originally, Rob wanted to show off this skill in front of Du Fan, but he didn’t expect Du Fan to expose his lie right away.
“But, Rob, you can still use the energies of other elements,” Du Fan said.
“What do you know?” Rob snorted. “When I break down and recombine my own wind and thunder energies to create other types of energy, their level is already one tier lower. For example, I’m currently at the divine level, but when I use water element energy after recombination, I can only exert the strength of a water element user at most,” Rob said gloomily.
Indeed, in Rob’s mind, using energy from other elements was like reducing his own strength by one tier. Such a foolish thing, of course, no one would do, making this skill practically useless.
“But, Rob, you should know that sometimes, an eighth-level fire magic spell might not be more effective than a seventh-level water magic spell. So, being able to use magic from all elements is definitely a huge advantage,” Du Fan continued after a pause. “Moreover, I think that if one can use magic from all elements simultaneously, it will surely cause some extraordinary effects,” he added seriously.
“Is that true?” Rob asked seriously after hearing Du Fan’s words.
“Damn, I already said it’s just my guess!” Du Fan shouted. “If you want to know if it’s true or not, just create all the elemental energies and combine them together, then you’ll know!”
