Chapter 019: Corrosive Domain
“Young Master Randy, Duke Du Fan, bringing your personal fight to my Mercenary Guild—isn’t that a bit much, as if you’re not even considering me as your master?” Greli said with a snort as soon as he appeared.
“Haha! President Greli, you can’t blame me for this. I came to your guild to do business. Who would have thought that Young Master Randy would bring people to corner me here? I tried to leave just now, but they stopped me,” Du Fan said with a smile upon seeing the guild’s president show up.
The Mercenary Guild had branches in most parts of the continent. Basically, wherever humans gathered, there was a Mercenary Guild. Although its organization wasn’t as strict as that of the Magic Guild, its scale far exceeded that of the Magic Guild. Moreover, the number of mercenaries on this continent had already exceeded one million!
Even Du Fan, the president of the Mercenary Guild, was someone one shouldn’t offend.
“Duke Du Fan, you looked quite impressive just now! And you, Young Master Randy? Are you planning to resolve your personal grudge with Duke Du Fan right here in our Mercenary Guild?” President Greli took a neutral stance, not siding with either party.
Hearing this, Du Fan burst into laughter. “Randy, if that’s the case, how about we fight outside?”
By appearing, the president of the Mercenary Guild had actually done Du Fan a favor in secret. As an archer, Nai Xiu wasn’t good at close combat, and the guild hall was extremely unfavorable for her to fight in. On top of that, there were many bodyguards from the Lionheart Family outside. Among those guards, there might well be experts. If they all rushed in, it would be even more disadvantageous for Nai Xiu!
“Hmph, since President Greli says so, I, Randy, can’t refuse to show respect. Du Fan, let’s fight outside!” Randy said to Du Fan.
“Randy, since you’re not afraid of death, come with me!” Hearing this, Du Fan pulled Nai Xiu along, laughed loudly, and rushed outside!
Following Du Fan, Randy and the Twin Masters of Ice and Fire also ran outside.
Outside, surrounded by a group of cavalry, Du Fan faced off against three opponents alone, while Nai Xiu stood far away on the side.
In Randy’s intelligence, there was no information about Naixiu. Moreover, since Naixiu’s cultivation level was far higher than that of Randy and the Twin Masters of Fire and Ice, those people simply couldn’t fathom just how advanced her skills really were.
Watching Naixiu stand quietly aside, Randy’s group thought that this beautiful elven woman must be someone Du Fan had abducted from the elven race!
They had no way of guessing that Naixiu was the ruler of the elven race, possessing the power to slay gods!
Drawing the Thunder Sword, Du Fan effortlessly deflected the attacks from the three of them, mocking Randy as he fought.
“Randy, it’s only been two months since we last saw each other, and yet you’ve become as weak as a woman—your sword strikes lack any strength at all,” Du Fan said with a laugh.
But Randy grew increasingly panicked as the fight continued. Initially, he thought that with the help of the Twin Masters of Fire and Ice, capturing Du Fan would be a piece of cake!
Although it was his own family’s knights who had clashed with Du Fan, as long as he could kill Du Fan first, there would be no evidence left. Even the king would be powerless against him. He could claim that Du Fan had clashed with his family’s cavalry, and in the chaos, his men accidentally killed Du Fan. If the king decided to investigate, at most a few cavalrymen would be sacrificed as scapegoats. Besides, the king had agreed to eliminate Du Fan in the first place!
With these two advantages, Randy intended to kill Du Fan right before his eyes!
But after over thirty exchanges, sweat already appeared on his forehead, yet Du Fan seemed unaffected at all, moving effortlessly among the three of them!
“Du Fan, I never expected that just two months apart, you’d made such progress. It seems you encountered quite a few adventures during your disappearance,” Randy said, echoing Du Fan’s words.
As Randy spoke, Du Fan gently moved his wrist, and a purple bolt of lightning shot out from the Thunder Sword, heading straight for Randy.
The lightning was incredibly fast—Randy had no time to dodge. The bolt struck his chest, and an immediate numbness spread throughout his body. His clothes on his chest were also scorched and smoking from the lightning unleashed by Du Fan.
“Du Fan, what kind of sword is that of yours!” Randy shouted in frustration upon seeing lightning emanating from Du Fan’s long sword.
“I don’t know its name either; I just got it by accident. What, are you jealous?” Du Fan said with a smile.
Hearing this, Randy snorted again and remained silent.
Suddenly, as if abandoning Randy, Du Fan raised his sword and began slashing rapidly at the swords of the Ice and Fire Duo!
The long swords in the hands of the Ice and Fire Duo withstood over a dozen of Du Fan’s strikes!
With two sharp sounds, the long swords in the two old men’s hands were cut in half by Du Fan, while the few attacks Randy launched at Du Fan failed to cause any harm at all.
Staring at Du Fan in disbelief, the two old men grew solemn.
Although the long swords in their hands weren’t particularly excellent, they were still good—after all, they were fine swords crafted by human masters. But against Du Fan’s wind-like speed and the use of the True Eye, his successive strikes all targeted the same point.
Though their swords were decent, they were quickly cut in half by the sharper Lightning Sword.
“Elders, it’s time to use your ultimate moves,” Randy suddenly said, seeing Du Fan’s overwhelming strength.
“Elder, it seems this Du Fan is at least a domain expert. Let’s use our ultimate moves,” Fire Hero added.
“Alright! Second brother, go!” Even as he said this, there was still a sinister tone in his voice.
Right after they spoke, the two of them quickly stood side by side. As they stood together, a strange change occurred around them—two beams of light shot out from their hands, one white and one red. Soon, the two beams merged into a slightly dark-colored light.
That dark light shot straight at Du Fan, who waved his hand, transforming his light combat energy into a tangible form that rushed toward it.
Soon, the two beams collided, and the light formed from Du Fan’s combat energy dissolved just like an ice cube thrown into hot oil.
The slightly dark light containing dissolved Light Combat Qi didn’t shrink much at all and continued to shoot toward Du Fan. Seeing this, Du Fan swung his long sword repeatedly, with waves of Light Combat Qi continuously colliding with that dark light. It wasn’t until Du Fan had unleashed six light blades formed from Light Combat Qi that he managed to counteract that dark light.
As Du Fan kept releasing these light blades, he clearly felt that, in terms of attributes, his light blades were completely suppressed by the dark light. That dark light clearly possessed an erosive ability, corroding the light blades he sent out.
Seeing this, a strange idea crossed Du Fan’s mind: Could it be that after the Ice and Fire Duo merged their ice and fire attributes, they created such corrosive combat Qi?
Suddenly, a flash of insight struck Du Fan’s mind. Could the fusion of combat Qi with different attributes produce various effects?
However, the situation on the battlefield didn’t allow Du Fan to think any further. Facing him were two slightly dark lights with corrosive abilities, emitted by the Ice and Fire Duo.
The two lights flew rapidly toward Du Fan, one after the other. This time, although Du Fan kept releasing Light Combat Qi to counteract one of the dark lights, another still hit him directly.
Fortunately, as a burst of white light enveloped Du Fan’s body, the light that hit him disappeared in an instant. Along with its disappearance came the astonished looks from the Ice and Fire Duo.
“Not bad, not bad. Your move is truly a masterstroke. But against me, it’s still a bit insufficient!” Du Fan said casually after feeling the corrosive power of that dark light.
“You! How could you so easily withstand our brothers’ Corrosive Light?” Fire Duo said frustratedly, seeing Du Fan’s calm demeanor.
Ever since both of them reached the Saint level, their combat Qi had undergone a strange transformation. Through this change, they discovered that their combat Qi could merge together once released!
And the merged combat Qi gave rise to a new ability—corrosion. Moreover, when the two used this corrosion ability together, its power multiplied!
All along, the two of them had relied on this corrosive skill to defeat many opponents, but today, against Du Fan, it seemed to be completely useless. Such a situation naturally frustrated Huo Jie greatly.
“Second brother, I see that kid using some kind of protective magic. Hmph, as long as we break through his defensive skill, our Corrosive Light will surely be able to take care of him,” Bing Jie said in a sinister tone.
It seemed that Bing Jie, being older, had more experience. Seeing a flash of golden light on Du Fan’s body that disappeared quickly, he analyzed that Du Fan was using some protective magic to resist the Corrosive Light. As long as the two of them accelerated the erosion of the energy supporting that protective magic, Du Fan would be in extreme danger.
Hearing Bing Jie’s words, Huo Jie loudly agreed.
Soon, Bing Jie’s body emitted an extremely cold aura, and along with it, Huo Jie’s body also released a red aura. As these two completely different auras appeared, they began to spread from the two of them. As their auras spread, they also started to blend together, and quickly, the auras emitted by the two merged into one, forming a faintly black domain!
