Chapter 004: How to Get In
“Yes, remember, no matter what, don’t let the people of the Holy Church know you exist. Otherwise, you’ll be in big trouble,” Du Fan said seriously.
“So, what should I do when I go out with you?” Chenchen asked earnestly.
“Oh, under normal circumstances, you’ll turn into a little cat,” Du Fan quickly explained upon hearing her question.
“Is that so?” As soon as Chenchen finished speaking, she immediately turned into a little cat and curled up in Du Fan’s arms.
This cat was almost identical to the one Chenchen had turned into before, with the only difference being that it was white!
“Chenchen, it seems you’ve changed a bit. Before, you always turned into a black cat,” Du Fan said, even more convinced that this was indeed Chenchen. Otherwise, why would the cats she turned into be the same?
“I don’t like black at all. I hate black. I can’t possibly turn into black,” the cat in Du Fan’s arms said.
“Oh, then turn into white,” Du Fan said quickly.
As long as it was Chenchen, it didn’t matter whether the cat was black or white. Although he was still a bit unaccustomed to the white color, it was better than having no Chenchen by his side, Du Fan thought.
In an instant, the white cat turned back into Chenchen.
“My master, since you’ve found me, please take me back quickly!” Chenchen said.
When Du Fan brought Chenchen out, the Great Commander and the Dwarf King both widened their eyes in shock.
“Du Fan, how did you bring a woman out?” the two asked almost simultaneously.
“Master, who are they?” Seeing the surprised expressions on the Great Commander and the Dwarf King, Chenchen asked unfriendlyly.
“Oh, this is the Great Commander of the Magical Beasts, and this is His Majesty the Dwarf King. Both are god-tier experts, the top fighters on the continent,” Du Fan quickly explained.
Noticing Chenchen’s unfriendly attitude, fearing she might anger those two god-tier experts, Du Fan hurriedly added,
“God-tier experts?” Chenchen tilted her head and thought for a moment. “God-tier experts… don’t seem that powerful either.” Finally, she finished speaking.
Hearing this, Du Fan almost spat out his drink!
A god-tier expert? They can’t possibly be that powerful! If anyone on any continent heard this, they would react violently. A god-tier expert, at the very least, in today’s world, can control the weather with just a flick of their hand—just like these two experts here. If they get angry and stomp their feet, not only would the Twilight Mountains shake, but perhaps the entire continent would tremble three times!
The strength of these two god-tier experts, and the power they represent, is definitely greater than that of an entire human empire.
Even facing such god-tier experts, Chenchen actually said in front of everyone that they didn’t seem that powerful after all.
Hearing Chenchen’s words, the two remained calm and simply asked Du Fan, “Du Fan, are you her master?” There wasn’t the slightest hint of emotion on their faces.
“Actually, I’ve known her for a long time. I was her master long ago,” Du Fan said.
“That’s impossible!” the two god-tier experts demanded together. “This place hasn’t been disturbed in hundreds of years. How is it possible that someone came out here and has known her for so long, and you’re even her master?”
“Sigh, my lords, if you go to my residence, you’ll know I’m telling the truth. All my subordinates recognize her,” Du Fan said helplessly.
“Old friend, do you believe it? Something we’ve guarded for hundreds of years turns out to be just a woman, and she seems to have entered recently. How did she get in?” The commander looked at the Dwarf King in disbelief.
“I don’t believe it either, but it seems Du Fan is telling the truth,” the Dwarf King said, looking at Du Fan, who didn’t seem like he was lying at all.
Moreover, they knew that Du Fan had no reason to lie about this.
“Never mind, let’s stop thinking about it. From what we saw in the Divine Ruins back then, we knew the thing we were guarding must not be simple. In such a situation, we can only say that whoever arranged all this is truly extremely clever,” the commander said.
“That’s the only explanation,” the Dwarf King nodded in agreement.
“How many centuries have you been guarding this place?” Before Du Fan could speak, Chenchen asked.
“That’s right. We’ve been guarding it since we came out of the Divine Ruins. All this time, we’ve believed that no one other than us two has entered or left here,” the commander said seriously.
“That’s strange. Could it be that hundreds of years have passed while I was sleeping?” Chenchen said in surprise.
“I’m afraid it’s even more than that. When we found that place, the seal on the stone chamber had never been broken before,” said the Grand Commander.
“Chenchen, you must have been transported there using space magic,” Du Fan said quickly. “Back when we were in great danger, it was you who activated a space magic, transporting me directly from the Lanni Empire to the Lost Forest. I think you were also transported there using that same space magic.”
“Is that so?” Chenchen thought for a moment. “Ugh, it’s annoying. I don’t remember anything at all,” she said irritably.
“If you can’t remember, then don’t think about it. Would I ever lie to you?” Du Fan said with a smile.
Staring at Du Fan’s smile, Chenchen couldn’t spot any flaw. Instead, his extremely pure smile made her think that Du Fan was definitely a good person.
Joking aside, even if Du Fan wanted to deceive her, no one could detect the slightest hint of deception on his face. Moreover, this time he was speaking entirely from the heart.
“Mm, I trust you. After all, you’re my master,” Chenchen suddenly said with a smile at Du Fan.
That smile made Du Fan feel something was slightly off.
Chenchen’s smile no longer had its usual charming aura; instead, it was just as pure as Du Fan’s!
Strange, really strange. Could it be that being injured and losing her memory once changed her personality and attributes?
Or maybe this girl is deliberately imitating me? Du Fan thought.
“Du Fan, is there anything else inside besides Chenchen?” the Grand Commander asked further.
“I didn’t notice that,” Du Fan replied. “How about I go in and take another look?”
“Master, there’s nothing inside. You don’t need to go in,” Chenchen said.
After thinking for a moment, Du Fan realized that there was indeed nothing else in the stone chamber besides the stone bed, and on the stone bed, there was nothing but Chenchen.
“It seems there really is nothing,” Du Fan said after hearing Chenchen’s words, then spoke to the Grand Commander and the Dwarf King.
“Old friend, if that’s the case, it seems our guardianship mission is complete. What are your plans now?” the Dwarf King said with a smile after hearing Du Fan’s words.
“I think I’ll go to the Divine Realm and take a look,” the Commander-in-Chief replied after thinking for a moment.
“Haha, I thought the same. But what about what happens behind us once we leave?” the Dwarf King asked.
“Once Tek returns, I’ll give him Karu’s divine essence. In a few years, he too can become a god. With Tek guarding our side of the world of monsters, I’m not afraid of anyone causing trouble,” the Commander-in-Chief said.
“Your side of the world of monsters has godly experts to guard you, but what about our dwarf race?” the Dwarf King asked, frowning.
“Uncle Phile, you don’t need to worry about that. Basha has already merged with a divine essence in the Divine Ruins. If nothing goes wrong, he’ll also become a god in a few years,” Du Fan quickly said upon hearing the Dwarf King’s concern.
“Really?” the Dwarf King asked eagerly when he heard that Basha had also merged with a divine essence.
“Of course. Didn’t Brother Basha tell you?” Du Fan asked.
“That boy always acts very respectful around me. As long as I don’t ask him, he never tells me about such things,” the Dwarf King said. “If that’s the case, that’s good. Haha, old friend, my son will soon be at the godly level too. There’s no need to worry that your side of the world of monsters will suppress us.” Turning his attention back to the Commander-in-Chief, the Dwarf King continued.
“Hehe, Phile, you must have forgotten. Karu’s divine essence is that of a mid-tier god. After all, Tek will still be superior to Basha in the end,” the Commander-in-Chief said with a smile.
“I’m not afraid of that. If Tek really reaches the level of a mid-tier god, he probably won’t have much time left on this continent,” the Dwarf King said.
“Yes. As long as our godly experts reveal their divine strength, they’ll be automatically transported to the Divine Realm. If it weren’t for fighting Karu in your cultivation space back then, we would likely have both been taken to the Divine Realm already,” the Commander-in-Chief said.
On this continent, battles between gods draw forth the primal power of the Supreme Divine Realm. Under the rules set by the Supreme God, once one’s godly cultivation is revealed, they will be automatically transported to the Divine Realm.
To maintain balance in the human world of the continent, the Supreme God does not allow too many gods to exist there!
“My lords, when will we be going out?” Du Fan quickly asked, hearing the two of them chatting animatedly.
“Hehe, we got so caught up in the conversation that we forgot. I’m sorry, Du Fan. I’ll take you out right away,” the commander said, feeling embarrassed at Du Fan’s question.
Leading Du Fan and Chenchen out of the passage, the four of them headed outside. When they passed by Da Hei, this usually lazy big dog suddenly perked up and stood up.
After standing up, it stared at Chenchen for a long time.
“Da Hei, what have you noticed?” the commander suddenly asked, seeing Da Hei staring at Chenchen.
To his surprise, after the commander’s question, Da Hei lay down again, lazily closing its eyes. Before closing them, it let out a few lazy barks.
The commander listened carefully to Da Hei’s barks and then said to Chenchen, “Miss Chenchen, Da Hei seems to say it’s very familiar with your aura. Think about it—have you seen such a big black dog anywhere before?”
