Chapter 003: Farewell

“Hey, there is a slight advantage, but I’ve already eaten alone—what can you do?” Du Fan said, staring at Moses with an air of defiance.
“Haha, kid, I was just teasing you,” Moses said with a smile.
Soon, they arrived in front of the stone door. Basha stretched out his hand and slammed it hard against the door.
A dull sound of the door opening came from within.
As the door opened, Croff stood at the entrance, looking nervous.
“Basha, kid! I thought you guys wouldn’t be able to get out!” Croff exclaimed loudly upon seeing Basha and the others.
“Basha, that kid Karu already got out—why did you guys take so long?” Croff asked anxiously.
“Cousin Karu also got out?” Basha asked happily upon hearing that Karu was safe.
“That’s right! Karu got out a few hours before we broke through! But this time, we lost to those guys from the Magical Beasts!” Croff said, waving his axe angrily.
“What happened, Grandpa Croff?” Basha asked urgently.
“That kid Karu and the seven dwarves he brought were all killed by those from the Magical Beasts! The Magical Beasts didn’t lose a single one! We lost this battle for the Divine Ruins!” Croff cried out.
“What?” Basha didn’t know what to say.
They hadn’t entered the Divine Ruins to fight the Magical Beasts in the first place, and Basha hadn’t considered the possibility of winning or losing against them. Now, after coming out of the Divine Ruins and facing Croff’s question, Basha realized that the conflict there also affected the reputation of the dwarf race and the Magical Beasts!
In previous battles for the Divine Ruins, both sides had fought fiercely, but they had generally been evenly matched. It was rare to see a situation like this—seven dwarves killed while the Magical Beasts suffered no losses. To a dwarf with a strong sense of honor like Croff, this was an utter disgrace!
Total defeat! Those two words meant total defeat!
Ever since Sullen came out of the Divine Ruins, Tuxian had been acting arrogantly in front of Croff!

“Kroff, old fellow, how are you? Us guys from the Warcraft side are still better than you puny dwarves, right?” Tu Xian would always ask this with his face turned upward every time he saw Kroff.
What could Kroff say? His own dwarf race had lost!
Whenever people were sent into the passage to carry out the seven dwarves’ bodies, faced with such a reality, Kroff would feel terrified every time he saw Tu Xian, fearing that Tu Xian might say something humiliating to the dwarf race again. Clearly, all twenty participants from the Warcraft side had emerged unharmed that day. On his side, not only wasn’t a single person out, but seven bodies had to be dragged out!
Every time he saw Tu Xian, Kroff was filled with fear. His entire life, he had been inferior in front of Tu Xian!
“Basha, you really disappointed me this time!” Kroff said suddenly, filled with grief and anger.
After saying that, he walked away with a sorrowful expression.
Seeing Kroff in such a state, Basha felt strange. Even though the dwarf race had lost, there was no need to act like this. Before finishing his words, Basha left.
“Come here,” Basha said, pointing at a nearby dwarf.
This dwarf was just an ordinary soldier guarding the Divine Ruins. When the dwarf soldier saw Basha pointing at him, he quickly grabbed the reins in his hand and rode his leopard-like mount over to Basha.
After the leopard stood still, the dwarf dismounted gracefully and came before Basha.
“Lord Basha, what can I do for you?” the dwarf asked respectfully.
“Why is Grandpa Kroff like this?” Basha asked.
“Well, I heard that when Young Master Karu came out, he was very angry and told Lord Kroff that Lord Basha had ignored them in the Divine Ruins and ran in first by himself. As a result, the eight of them had to face twenty Warcraft experts, which is why seven of his brothers were killed by the Warcraft side,” the dwarf soldier said after thinking for a while.
Hearing this, Basha also felt sad. As a dwarf, Basha wasn’t very smart. When they first entered the Divine Ruins, he hadn’t thought much about it. At that time, he thought his cousin Karu would enter the ruins with him, but instead, Karu stayed outside.

He stayed outside and never expected that the Warcraft side could be so ruthless! They killed all seven other members of his clan. Suddenly, Basha thought of a question.
“So, how did my cousin Karu get out?” Basha asked.
“I heard that Master Karu also jumped into the Divine Ruins at the last moment, which is how he managed to survive,” replied the dwarf soldier.
“You mean Karu entered the Divine Ruins and didn’t die either?” Du Fan quickly asked.
“Yes, that’s exactly it,” the dwarf soldier said with his head bowed.
Since Karu also entered the Divine Ruins, why didn’t he chase after them? Moreover, if someone could enter the Divine Ruins and survive, it was possible that Karu had gained many benefits there!
This might cause trouble, Du Fan thought. He remembered the hint of resentment when Karu hugged Basha and the greed in his gaze when looking at Naixiu.
Trouble was coming, Du Fan thought immediately.
“Du Fan, my cousin Karu must be very upset. What should I do?” Basha raised his head and asked Du Fan.
“Let’s go back and talk about it,” Du Fan said hurriedly upon seeing Basha so self-reproachful.
From their arrival to coming out of the Divine Ruins, only two days had passed.
In those two days, the elves’ archers had only been transported over 300 people.
Under Du Fan’s orders, this group of elf archers was sent back again.
Fortunately, the elves were a clan with simple minds and had no objections to this.
But when Basha was about to leave, Croff rushed over again.
“Basha, after you go back, you must sincerely apologize to your cousin Karu,” Croff instructed him.
“I know, Grandpa Croff,” Basha replied.
Back in Glass, the so-called largest dungeon in the entire continent, the first thing Du Fan encountered was the farewell of the five elf archers.
“Elder Du Fan, we have fulfilled the promise we made to you—to explore the Divine Ruins with you. I think it’s time for us to say goodbye,” said Red among the five archers.
Indeed, the original agreement with Du Fan didn’t state that the five archers had to follow him forever. It wasn’t surprising that they wanted to leave after exploring the Divine Ruins.
It was just that Du Fan didn’t expect them to propose leaving so quickly.

“Why leave so quickly? Can’t you stay a few more days? Or maybe go and see our human world?” Du Fan pleaded, still unwilling to let them go.
Five archers of the sacred rank, and moreover, elves who had bathed in the Spring of Life—such five sacred archers would be an extremely formidable force in the human world!
Forbidden-level attacks! Ultra-long-range assaults!
With such five sacred archers in a city, that city could surely be described as impregnable!
“Actually, it’s because we’re not yet used to life outside that we’re in such a hurry to return,” Hong said with a smile upon seeing Du Fan’s insistence.
“Elder Du Fan should know our elf customs; staying here is truly very uncomfortable for us,” Lan added.
After thinking for a moment, Du Fan nodded in agreement.
Although the air in Grass was still good, how could it compare to the air of the elves?
The elves lived in dense forests, and the closer one got to the ancient elf trees, the stronger the life energy!
Moreover, elves mostly followed a vegetarian diet, while the dwarves here were naturally fond of eating meat!
More importantly, elves loved cleanliness very much.
As for the dwarves, their favorite activities were digging holes, mining, and crafting objects.
It was rare to see a clean dwarf on the streets of Grass!
These dwarves were either covered in stone dust or charcoal ash—there was always a lot of dirt on them!
Such an environment was indeed difficult for an elf to endure.
“Alright, since you want to leave, I won’t hold you back. When do you plan to go?” Du Fan asked.
“We’re ready to set off right away,” Hong, Yellow, Blue, White, and Purple said together.
What unity! It seems they’re all determined to leave, Du Fan thought.
“Then let’s send you off together,” Du Fan said.
The group set off to escort Hong, Yellow, Blue, White, and Purple back to the elf realm.
After several life-and-death battles, a strong friendship had formed among the twelve of them. They reluctantly saw them off for dozens of miles.
“Elder Du Fan, Chief Naixiu, Lord Bashah, Elder Moses, let’s stop here. There’s no need to go any further,” several of the elf archers repeated.

“Let’s send them off again; with this separation, I don’t know when we’ll see each other again,” Moses said with emotion.
“Won’t Elder Moses go back?” Lan asked.
“My father has long instructed me to follow Elder Du Fan and gain experience in human society,” Moses replied. “In fact, human society isn’t as dirty or despicable as you think. Otherwise, why would our great elf ranger always prefer to stay in human society?” Moses said with a smile.
It was true—most of the legendary figures among the elves, those great elf rangers, stayed in human society.
“Yes, with this separation, I don’t know when I’ll be able to see you all again,” Du Fan also sighed.
“Elder Du Fan, don’t be so sad. If anything happens to you in human society, just send a message to us, and we’ll definitely come to help,” Hong said with a smile.
