Chapter 008: The Sun God

Looking at this giant transformed from a python, Du Fan found him increasingly familiar. “The Hulk!” Du Fan suddenly remembered a movie from his past life!
This green-skinned giant resembled The Hulk quite a bit after transforming!
“Um, this mighty sir, may I ask how I should address you?” Du Fan said with a smile, his face once again adorned with an aura of pure holiness.
“Ever since I could transform into a human, those two have called me The Hulk,” said the green giant.
Sweat poured down—so he really was called The Hulk! A large bead of sweat appeared on Du Fan’s forehead.
“Mr. The Hulk, may I ask if you come from the divine realm?” Du Fan asked.
“The divine realm? Don’t we all come from there? Ever since I was young, I’ve grown up here with those two winged beings in the sky,” said The Hulk, pointing at the two winged people still flying in the sky.
“Winged beings!” Du Fan spat out in shock at The Hulk’s words.
“Du Fan, were you sick from eating the flesh of the Thunder Beast?” Naixiu asked anxiously, seeing Du Fan sweating profusely and spitting.
“Maybe a little. The wind blew on me, and then this green brother splashed water on me—maybe I have a cold,” Du Fan replied.
“Hmph! It was clearly you who brought down a meteor that crashed into my pond, causing all this water. How can you blame me?” The Hulk snorted.
“Haha, even if it was me, I still wonder how you two who guard this place intend to enforce the rules?” Du Fan asked, still smiling with that holy aura.
“We won’t let any intelligent beings pass through,” The Hulk replied coldly.
“So that means we can’t go through either?” Du Fanprobinged.
“Of course not. It’s an order from our master!” The Hulk said firmly.
“But do you think you can defeat us?” Du Fan asked, with a playful tone.
“It seems I can’t,” The Hulk admitted honestly. “But although we can’t defeat them, we still have our master.” A faint smile appeared on The Hulk’s lips.
“Your master? Where is your master?” Hearing this, Du Fan became alert.
“My master will appear when it’s time,” The Hulk said with a smile.

It was Du Fan’s turn to feel frustrated. As per his plan, he wanted to buy time and find a way to solve the problem. He had already found it strange that the previous valley guardians were all near-godly experts; it was unlikely that there would only be three guardians at the level of sacred-class magical beasts here.

Yet, he never expected that this green giant, who appeared huge and silly, seemed to be deliberately stalling for time, always trying to trick others. Unexpectedly, today he was deceived by such a seemingly foolish giant!

“Big guy, do you believe I can take you out before your master shows up?” Du Fan suddenly flipped his wrist, unleashing several dazzling sword moves with Frost Snow.

“Who wants to take out my little Greeny?” Just as Du Fan was about to kill the green giant, a lazy male voice spoke up.

The voice came from somewhere unclear, giving Du Fan the impression of someone who had just woken up, still groggy and half-asleep, before lazily turning over and speaking in a relaxed tone.

Hearing this voice, everyone, including Du Fan, shuddered!

The voice was lazy, yet it gave off an air of superiority, as if the speaker was using it to show off their lofty status. The laziness in the voice meant, “I look down on you!” Not just looking down, but being too lazy even to pay attention!

Yet, there was a magical power hidden in that voice, as if to say, “I have the right to look down on you!”

“Respected sir, I was just trying to scare your little Greeny,” Du Fan said respectfully.

“Little Greeny! Only my master can call me that! How dare you, kid, call me Little Greeny just like my master!” The green giant roared loudly upon hearing Du Fan use that title for him.

“Little Greeny, be good, don’t get angry,” the lazy voice suddenly changed, becoming soothing and gentle.

As the voice sounded, a curtain of water parted in the falling waterfall, and a man in white robes stepped out from behind it.

“Sigh, I was having a good sleep. What’s all the noise?” The man stepped out into the air, moving step by step as if there was solid ground beneath his feet, even in mid-air!

Leaping through the air like this—Du Fan was confident he couldn’t do such a thing!

Such floating steps are much harder than flying in the air! Flying only requires sufficient power for a long time, but such floating steps need more energy support! For example, there is a kind of lizard that can move quickly and “run” on the water’s surface—this actually exists in reality. But making this lizard walk slowly step by step on the water’s surface is simply impossible! Flying fast in the sky is much easier than walking slowly step by step. And this person who suddenly appeared was walking slowly step by step in the air! The person stepped out from between the separated water curtains of the waterfall, moving slowly, as if taking a leisurely walk. Soon, as if there were stairs in the void, the person descended step by step. “Little guy, you have quite a lot inside you,” the person suddenly said, looking at Du Fan with a smile. Under that gaze, Du Fan felt as if he had been seen through—it seemed like everything about him was exposed before this person. “Hmm, a soul from another world, the essence of a god, and also… strange! Why do you still carry the aura of that great lord?” The person, who had been squinting at Du Fan, suddenly opened his eyes and said in surprise. “I don’t know. Who is the person you’re talking about?” Du Fan quickly asked. “I can’t say. It involves too many things, and even if I told you now, it wouldn’t benefit you,” the person said, shaking his head with a smile. “Then what should I call you?” Du Fan asked. “Just call me Fan. In the divine realm, they usually call me the Sun God,” Fan said with a smile. “The Sun God? Damn it, why Fan and not the Divine Mechanism God?” Du Fan thought gloomily. “You find it strange, right? Whenever people see my divine title, they tend to associate me with the Sun God. But actually, as one of the twelve supreme gods, how could the Sun God possibly have anything to do with me? To be honest, my original divine title was the Sheep God—sheep, like the animals in the phrase ‘pig, horse, cow, sheep’,” Fan explained. Hearing the Sun God explain in such detail, Du Fan noticed something strange—both the Food God before and now the Sun God seemed very talkative! Could it be that they had been guarding here for tens of thousands of years, became lonely, and then started chatting endlessly whenever they saw a living person? Of course, Du Fan wouldn’t show any dissatisfaction.

“The Sheep God? May I ask, Lord Yangshen, did you have some experience related to sheep before you became a god?” Du Fan asked.
“That’s right. Before becoming a god, I was just a shepherd boy. Back then, I never dreamed I would become a god!” Yangshen Fan said with a nostalgic expression.
“I simply had an ordinary, basic book on practicing combat energy. In my free time while herding sheep, I practiced with that book. Until one day, I suddenly felt as if I had become a god,” Yangshen Fan said calmly.
Yet these words stirred up indescribable waves in Du Fan’s heart!
Reaching the divine level must be an incredibly difficult task! Those who stood at the top of this path all understood this deeply!
Among the twelve people, each had a high level of cultivation—reaching the Saint realm, which was already an astonishing achievement on this continent!
Their talents were already extremely remarkable!
Yet none of these twelve dared claim that they could reach the divine level just by using a basic book on practicing combat energy!
Yet this person dared to say such things! And from the way he spoke, it didn’t seem like he was lying! Amazing, truly amazing! Du Fan thought with deep admiration!
Someone actually became a god by using just a basic book on practicing combat energy! Such a person could only be described as a miracle! Du Fan thought.
“After reaching the divine realm, I was guided to the divine world, only to find that I could no longer herd sheep! Sigh, it’s so hard to get used to!” Yangshen Fan sighed.
“Actually, the reason I was able to become a god was because I could approach cultivation with a very calm mindset. I practiced combat energy just so that during winter while herding sheep, I could stay warm, run faster, and have more strength. Through herding, I could understand the cycle of the seasons, the endless cycle of life, and the virtue of creation bestowed by heaven! By understanding all these things, I became a god,” Fan said calmly.
Hearing this, Du Fan’s heart seemed to become as clear as a mirror. This Yangshen’s journey to divinity was nothing more than through the most ordinary of things. In the end, this Yangshen was just an ordinary shepherd who happened to know a bit of basic combat energy knowledge!

Basic knowledge of combat energy like that can be bought in any larger bookstore on the continent! Not only can it be obtained, Du Fan is also sure that more advanced books on combat energy can be found there!
But what’s most remarkable is that this Yang God was able to comprehend an extremely profound truth from the simplest profession—herding!
To be able to grasp the extraordinary within the ordinary is truly great! And to do very ordinary things with an extraordinary identity is even more impressive!
According to Yang God Fan’s explanation, before he became a god, he must have been doing the same thing all along—herding!
In other words, even as Yang God Fan reached level eight, level nine, the sacred realm, and even the peak of his domain, he was still doing just one thing: herding!
