Chapter 004: The God of Food
The area of that green mountain was incredibly vast. Du Fan and his group found a nearby spot and entered its territory.
As soon as they stepped inside, they immediately noticed that the surroundings had changed—this place was actually a completely different realm from the outside!
Inside the green mountain, the scenery resembled nothing on any continent! The trees, grass, and all plants here were mostly species not found on the continents. It seemed like the green mountain was an entirely separate place, independent of the continents!
Even the rocks and soil here seemed to emit a faint glow, completely different from any other place on the continent. As Du Fan entered the mountain, he also felt that the magical fluctuations here were much stronger. He was convinced that in such an environment, the speed and power of his magic spells would be significantly enhanced!
“This place is so strange! I feel that all the energy fluctuations are much stronger. Is this still on the same continent?” muttered one mage.
“A divine relic! Is this the true core of the divine relic? Is this the place even my father has never been to?” murmured Bashaa as well.
Once inside the green mountain, that intense sense of expansion and contraction disappeared!
However, the mountain exuded a feeling of abundant energy! Being here made people feel refreshed and full of strength!
This green mountain couldn’t really be called a single peak—it was surrounded by layers of smaller peaks. As Du Fan’s group entered the valley of one of these smaller peaks, the scene before them made them nervous.
In the middle of the valley, a huge fire was burning. Next to the fire sat a man holding a spear-like weapon, with a Thunder Beast impaled on it. The man was roasting a Thunder Beast!
The Thunder Beast, larger than even the oxen on the continents, was being roasted by a man using a spear!
The man wasn’t very tall, yet he held the spear with the Thunder Beast on it effortlessly. His fingers skillfully manipulated the spear, causing the beast to spin rapidly. The fat dripping from the beast fed the fire, making it burn even more fiercely!
“It’s been many years; finally, I see some outsiders,” the man said with a smile upon seeing Du Fan and his group.
“Why not sit down and try the taste of these Thunder Beasts? When roasted, their meat is actually quite delicious,” the man added.
“May I ask who you are?” Du Fan asked politely.
“I’m just a servant here to keep watch. You can call me Qiao,” the man replied with a smile.
“Mr. Qiao, you just eat roasted Thunder Beasts like this?” Basha exclaimed in surprise.
“Yes. Back then, I was just worried about having enough food, so I caught some Thunder Beasts. I never expected their numbers to grow so large. By the way, those beasts outside earlier—did they scare you?” Qiao continued to smile as usual.
“What? You’re the one who caught these Thunder Beasts? As far as I know, Thunder Beasts only exist in the Divine Realm!” Moses said in shock after hearing Qiao’s words.
“Thunder Beasts? Is that so strange? These are the lowest-class animals in the Divine Realm, and they reproduce quickly. Only with such a fast reproduction rate can they keep up with my eating pace. Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother catching them. As for taste, these Thunder Beasts are not bad, but they can’t compare to delicacies like dragon liver or phoenix eggs,” Qiao said leisurely.
“Mr. Qiao, you… you eat dragons often?” Basha stammered upon hearing this.
Not only Basha but everyone was stunned! A ninth-level magical beast was simply kept and fed as food by this man! Moreover, he even dared to sneak to Dragon Island to hunt dragons! From what he said, he went to Dragon Island just to get dragon liver!
“Hmm, as you know, I really enjoy some stimulating flavors. Sometimes, I take advantage of the dragons on Dragon Island being careless to secretly hunt one or two of them. You know, the taste of dragon liver is truly exquisite,” Qiao said, a drop of saliva forming at the corner of his mouth.
“It’s a pity… I’ve been assigned to guard here and can’t leave for tens of thousands of years! For tens of thousands of years, I’ve been eating these Thunder Beasts every day! It’s the same old thing—no matter how delicious it is, I can’t really taste anything! How much longer do I have to go through this?” Qiao suddenly burst into tears.
Seeing this man in tears, Du Fan and the others felt an inexplicable sadness in their hearts.
Tens of thousands of years! Eating only one type of food for tens of thousands of years—such a monotonous life is truly unbearable!
Du Fan flipped through his storage ring, and a bottle of fine wine from the continent appeared in his hand.
“Mr. Qiao, take a look at this. Do you need something to stimulate your appetite?” Holding the wine, Du Fan opened the bottle cap and said to Qiao with a smile.
Sniffing the aroma of the wine in the air, Qiao exclaimed, “The scent of wine! I haven’t smelled it in tens of thousands of years! Who would have thought I’d smell it again today? Supreme God, you’ve truly been generous to me!” At the scent of the wine, Qiao burst into tears once more.
“Come on, kid, what’s your name? Here, take your wine. Let’s eat meat and drink wine together! You know, over these tens of thousands of years, I’ve grown tired of eating Thunder Beast meat. So I’ve been trying new ways to cook it—sometimes steamed, sometimes braised, sometimes mixed, sometimes grilled. Come on, kid, try my grilling skills!” As he spoke, Qiao grabbed a leg of a Thunder Beast and tore it off.
One of the Thunder Beast’s front legs was torn off, and immediately, a strong aroma of meat filled the air. Du Fan handed the wine to Qiao, who snatched the bottle and started drinking it quickly.
He downed an entire bottle of strong liquor at once! Qiao tilted his head back and drank the wine with an alcohol content of 56 degrees in one gulp.
“So refreshing! So refreshing! It’s been tens of thousands of years—wah, this is the first time I’ve tasted wine. Although this bottle isn’t anything special, it’s still wine!” Qiao cried out again.
“Eat, eat, brother! The taste of Thunder Beast meat is really good,” Qiao said, pointing at the grilled front leg in Du Fan’s hand.
Smelling the strong aroma of meat in the air, Du Fan took a big bite.
It was unclear how Qiao had grilled it, but the bite of Thunder Beast meat melted in his mouth instantly! A rich meaty flavor filled his mouth.
“It’s delicious!” Du Fan exclaimed sincerely.
“Sigh, no matter how delicious something is, eating it every day makes it taste bland,” Qiao said.
Though he said that, Qiao still grabbed another leg of the Thunder Beast, tore it off, grabbed a large piece of meat, and stuffed it into his mouth.
“Brother, is there more wine?” Qiao mumbled.
Du Fan smiled, flipped his wrist, and two more bottles of strong liquor appeared in his hand.
“Great, brother! You truly are my good brother!” Seeing the fine wine, Qiao didn’t hesitate with Du Fan—he grabbed a bottle right away and started drinking heartily!
“Are those all your friends? Tell them to come and eat too! Thunder Beast—haha, and it’s a Thunder Beast grilled by me, Qiao! Such delicious food—I’m sure you’ll never forget it after tasting it!” Qiao laughed heartily.
“Moses, Basha, Naixiu, and everyone else—come and try it! It’s really delicious,” Du Fan called out loudly.
Seeing Du Fan getting along so well with Qiao, the others stopped caring about anything else and gathered around the grilled Thunder Beast, using knives to cut it up.
The rich aroma of the meat grew even stronger. Those who had tasted the grilled Thunder Beast’s meat were amazed by Qiao’s grilling skills.
Even the best chefs on the continent couldn’t create such delicious food!
But it wasn’t surprising! After tens of thousands of years, perhaps finding ways to make Thunder Beasts more delicious was this Mr. Qiao’s greatest pleasure!
This Mr. Qiao had an astonishingly large appetite! A single back leg of a Thunder Beast weighed at least a hundred pounds, yet he devoured it in no time!
Moreover, the two bottles of strong liquor that Du Fan had taken out were also drunk up!
Both bottles were consumed by Qiao alone!
After taking out two bottles of liquor and handing them to Qiao, Du Fan smiled and said, “Big brother, are you a god?”
“Indeed. In the realm of gods, I also have my own divine title. People usually call me the God of Food. My greatest pleasure is eating—eating, eating, eating! And creating the most delicious food!” This Mr. Qiao didn’t hesitate to admit that he was indeed a god.
“Big brother, what are you guarding here?” Du Fan asked cautiously.
“Hehe, since you seem so eager to know, I might as well tell you. This place is what you call the ‘Ruins of the Gods.’ To be more precise, it should be called the ‘Graveyard of the Gods.’” Qiao continued eating and drinking without pause.
“The Graveyard of the Gods? Big brother, are many gods buried here?” Du Fan asked in surprise.
“That’s right! During the battle between the Great Demon Lord and the gods, many gods perished! This place is where their bodies and divine essences are buried.” Qiao didn’t hide anything and told Du Fan straight away.
Hearing this, Du Fan and his companions were shocked beyond measure!
Here lies the Remains of the Gods! It turns out to be the place where the bodies and divine essences of the gods are buried! No wonder both the Dwarf King and the Lord of Demons took the final step toward becoming gods after entering these Remains! It’s certain they found their divine essences here and became gods by fusing them! “Have you come here too to search for those relics of the gods?” Qiao asked Du Fan, biting into some meat from the Thunder Beast. “Hehe, big brother, eat and drink first. Let me explain slowly,” Du Fan said with a smile, taking out another bottle, opening it, and handing it to Qiao. “Big brother, what rank is your God of Food?” Du Fan asked in detail. “The God of Food, well… I’m afraid you’ll laugh, but actually, I’m just the lowest-ranking god! I can only be considered someone who has just entered the realm of gods!” Qiao said, a bit embarrassed. “Are there many ranks among gods?” Du Fan asked subtly. “Of course. Someone like me, the lowest-ranking god, is just a very insignificant figure in the divine realm. If it weren’t for my excellent cooking skills, it would be really hard for me to get by!” Qiao sighed, quite unusually.
