Chapter 001: Deprivation
With extreme pain on his face, the Ghost King handed over the Sword of War in his hands.
A hand took the Sword of War, and Du Fan gave the Ghost King a slight smile.
Just as the Ghost King handed over the Sword of War, the Holy Radiance Staff in Du Fan’s hands suddenly emitted a dazzling light! It radiated a brilliance akin to that of the sun!
Under such intense light energy, the Ghost King was quickly dissolved!
“You! Didn’t you say—!” Those were the last words the Ghost King left in this world, along with an expression of utter fury!
Soon after, the Ghost King completely vanished under Du Fan’s Holy Radiance Staff. The massive amount of light energy that Du Fan had accumulated over time, though not of the highest rank, was still at the level of a domain expert. Moreover, the amount stored in the Holy Radiance Staff was enormous—enough to change quality through quantity!
Such an immense amount of light energy from a domain expert was sufficient to purify the Ghost King into its most primitive elements!
With the sudden death of the Ghost King, Moses felt his own domain instantly enveloping the War Domain. With a sense of connection, Moses suddenly sensed something extra inside him!
“Big brother, how is it?” Du Fan asked with a smile.
“I feel like there’s something extra,” Moses said oddly after sensing that extra presence inside him.
A domain is an ability that naturally emerges when a strong practitioner reaches a certain level of cultivation. Within a domain expert’s body, it functions like a source of consciousness. This source of consciousness appears automatically when the practitioner reaches that level and can be sensed by them.
To release a domain, one only needs to activate this source of consciousness by channeling their energy. In Moses’s case, there were now two such sources of consciousness in his body!
It was as if he originally had only one head, but suddenly another grew, leaving him unsure which one to use.
“Then give it a try. See if you can release the War Domain,” Du Fan said.
Moses nodded and channeled his magic energy into the newly added source of consciousness. Sure enough, a fierce killing intent surged forth!
The red-and-black War God Domain reappeared!
“The coverage area is much smaller, and its effects are also diminished,” Du Fan said, nodding repeatedly.
The War Domain that Moses unleashed could only cover an area of about a hundred meters, and its ability to weaken enemies and strengthen oneself wasn’t as strong as what the Ghost King had initially achieved.
But even so, Moses’s War Domain is still a quite excellent domain skill. Moreover, Moses also has a Gravity Space Domain!
“Brother, can this War Domain be used together with your Gravity Space Domain?” Du Fan asked quickly.
Shaking his head, Moses said, “They can’t be used simultaneously. But I have a feeling that the consciousness sources of these two domains can merge with each other. Once they’re fully integrated, they should be able to be used together.”
“Consciousness sources?” Du Fan asked in confusion.
“Third brother, you surely know that domain experts can unleash their domains because they have an additional consciousness source within them. This consciousness source is the foundation of the domain!” Seeing that Du Fan didn’t know about domain consciousness sources, Moses hurriedly explained.
“No wonder, no wonder! That’s why I didn’t have a domain—because I still hadn’t formed a domain consciousness source!” Du Fan said thoughtfully.
“Impossible!” Moses widened his eyes.
“Du Fan, don’t you have an Absolute Protection Domain? How could you not have a domain consciousness source?” Nai Xiu also asked in surprise.
“How would I know? No one told me that reaching the peak of the Saint rank would definitely grant me a domain. But I really don’t have a domain consciousness source. Besides, as you all know, my Absolute Protection is just a passive skill!” Du Fan said gloomily. After all this, he, a peak Saint-level expert and a domain expert, actually didn’t have a domain! If he told others, they might laugh at him again!
As soon as he finished speaking, Du Fan took out the Sword of War from his storage ring.
The moment the Sword of War came into his hands, Du Fan felt as though he was holding war itself!
The Sword of War gathered hundreds of millions of ghosts!
These ghosts were born from the desire to kill enemies in battle! Such a fixation could only be clearly felt now that Du Fan had drawn out the Sword of War—how powerful this desire to kill was!
“Brother, you no longer have a weapon. I’ll give you this Sword of War to use!” After saying that, Du Fan handed the Sword of War to Moses.
Moses had never held the Sword of War before. As soon as he grasped it, he immediately sensed its might!
“Du Fan, this Sword of War is truly a divine artifact among divine artifacts! I dare not accept it from you!” Moses said.
“What’s wrong with that? Between brothers, what’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is yours,” Du Fan said with a smile.
“It hurts so much,” Du Fan thought to himself. It was a pity he still didn’t have a domain! If he had one already, he would surely have absorbed that war domain! Using such a domain on the battlefield—even if it could only cover a hundred meters—what did that matter? A hundred meters was enough to turn the entire tide of battle with the skills of a war domain! Du Fan lamented inwardly.
“Moreover, big brother, using this Sword of War in conjunction with your war domain will surely yield amazing results!” Despite the pain he felt, not a trace of it showed on Du Fan’s face. On the contrary, he wore a holy smile, as if he was always considering Moses’s interests first.
“If I’m going to do good, I’ll do it to the end—take it all the way!” Du Fan thought to himself. With a once again holy and sincere expression, he said, “Big brother, if you refuse to accept it, it’s as if you’re rejecting me as your younger brother!”
“Since that’s the case, I’ll accept it, third brother!” Moses’s use of “third brother” carried special weight.
“Third brother, you’re really kind. You gave me that Holy-level Skull Fire, and now you’re giving this to big brother. We’re all feeling embarrassed. Next time there’s anything good, keep it for yourself,” Basha said.
“That can’t be said. I give it to whoever is suitable. Look, we still have six archers and three mages here. When distributing things, we need to consider who is best suited for them,” Du Fan said, once again establishing his authority.
Needless to say, Nai Xiu would definitely follow Du Fan’s orders. The five great archers and Moses all owed Du Fan for saving them and sending them to the Spring of Life. As for Basha, Du Fan and the others had first rescued him from the jaws of Golden Dragon Dorusi and then given him many valuable materials from dragons. At the Divine Ruins, Basha was the first to benefit from these favors. He also trusted Du Fan deeply.
The three dual-element mages of the elf race, under the will of the Goddess of Nature, had been placed under Nai Xiu’s jurisdiction. As Du Fan’s wife, Nai Xiu essentially acted as their superior, and in a sense, those three mages were like Du Fan’s subordinates.
Moses was once again impressed by Du Fan’s spirit! He now completely trusted Du Fan!
“After all this turmoil tonight, let’s get some good sleep. Who knows what will happen tomorrow?” Seeing that Moses had accepted the Sword of War, Du Fan yawned and said.
It was already almost time to sleep when they were suddenly awakened by a summoning spell from the Ghost King. The series of battles that followed meant it was already early morning by now.
“Let’s take advantage of the time left to get some sleep and rest,” said Naixiu as well.
After the fierce battle, the Bone Mountain was in complete disarray. Finding a slightly better spot, the few elves among the mages cast spells again, and finally, the group had a passable place to sleep.
Throughout the night, nothing else suddenly appeared to disturb them. Though they claimed to be sleeping, all twelve of them remained in a state of partial alert, sitting, lying down, or in various positions.
Early the next morning, all twelve of them woke up simultaneously. The morning light shone on the Bone Mountain, casting a faint golden glow over the bones. The twelve got up and continued walking toward the green mountain.
From afar, they could already see a river winding its way at the foot of the mountain. They were not far from the mountain anymore. Yet, the twelve still walked on the Bone Mountain.
Suddenly, a skeleton caught everyone’s attention—it was actually the skeleton of a six-winged angel!
Six-winged angels are the highest-ranking beings among angels! They are equivalent to higher gods!
In other words, even higher gods had perished in that war! What an epic and magnificent battle that must have been!
What’s more, this six-winged angel’s skeleton was completely intact!
“Second brother, your Skeleton Fire can find a host now,” Du Fan said to Bashah after examining the skeleton carefully.
A six-winged angel’s skeleton! Such a skeleton, once unleashed, could scare many people to death!
Hearing Du Fan’s words, Bashah quickly took out the bottle containing the Skeleton Fire. As soon as the bottle was opened, the green, tiny flame inside began jumping around inside it!
For those skeletons, having a good host skeleton was extremely important—second only to devouring other Skeleton Fires!
That flame, having reached the Sacred level, was far more intelligent than before.
As soon as Bashah took it out, the flame immediately spotted the six-winged angel’s skeleton. That skeleton had a deadly attraction for it!
Even before being released by Bashah, the flame had been restless inside the bottle.
Not only was it jumping inside the bottle, but this ball of Skeleton Fire also emitted strange chirping sounds, one after another!
“Second brother, let it out quickly. Look at its state—it’ll break through the bottle on its own if we don’t let it out,” Du Fan said with a smile.
As soon as Bashah opened the bottle lid, a greenish flame rushed toward the skeleton of the six-winged angel! In an instant, it disappeared into the skull of the skeleton.
Soon, wave after wave of green light spread across the six-winged angel’s skeleton. As the green light grew stronger, the skeleton began to move slowly!
Once the skeleton moved, a tremendous aura surged towards them!
A six-winged angel! An existence of a higher deity—even with just its skeleton left, it still possessed immense power!
That power was amplified after the Skeleton Fire took residence in it, as its intelligent consciousness awakened those residual energies!
“Amazing! Second brother, you’ve found a treasure,” Moses said to Bashah, feeling this astonishing aura.
