Chapter 007: Sharing the Bed

Tasia sat on Du Fan’s bed with a strange expression on her face. Her delicate cheeks were exposed to the air, turning slightly pale from the cold, though she was wrapped in a blanket, so she probably wasn’t that cold. Du Fan glanced at her from head to toe, then looked around the tent to confirm that there was only Tasia and himself inside. Finally, he couldn’t help but smile, sat down on the bed, stretched, and said, “Miss Tasia, did you accidentally walk into the wrong tent? Or did you do it on purpose? Anyway, let me make things clear first… I, Du Fan, am not some casual person… You must not have any ill intentions toward me!”

As he spoke, Du Fan’s gaze became extremely tender, as if he was afraid that Tasia might pounce on him at any moment.

Although Tasia had seen men before in her life, she had never encountered someone like Du Fan before. Plus, she had always been deceived by his appearance. Hearing his words now, she was almost stunned.

But she really thought Du Fan was afraid of her acting recklessly. Besides, it was deep in the night, and she had gone into a man’s tent. If there was no hint, no one would believe it.

Tasia’s face turned red as she waved her hand and said, “Lord Du Fan, you… you misunderstand. It’s Alfred who is worried about your safety, so he asked me to protect you here… You don’t have to be afraid… I… I won’t act recklessly.”

Yet, inside, Tasia was even angrier. That damned Alfred had given her such an order, forcing her to hide in Du Fan’s tent, where it was cold and freezing. She had no choice but to climb into his bed to keep warm, leading to this confusing situation.

Damn this weather! Damn this Alfred!

Seeing Tasia’s red-faced, flustered state as if she couldn’t explain herself, Du Fan couldn’t help but laugh inwardly. How rare it was to see an iceberg melt! But seeing this icy beauty blush was even rarer!

Originally, Du Fan wanted to tease Tasia a bit more, but seeing her expression as if she wanted to burrow into a hole, he felt a hint of pity. Besides, this wasn’t the time for such things. With a light cough, Du Fan turned back and said, “Alright, let’s stop joking. It’s more important to talk about serious matters.”

Tasia nodded and pulled out a wand from her sleeve, gently creating a silence barrier. Fearing Du Fan might not understand, she even explained it further. Du Fan didn’t point it out but simply smiled and said, “Alright, I’ve already tested these Snow Fox Mercenaries according to Alfred’s advice. In my opinion, although they’re not good people, they don’t seem like spies from Roland Academy. They’re probably just ordinary mercenaries. But it seems they’ve set their sights on us now, so we need to discuss carefully how to deal with them.” Tasia’s expression returned to normal. She nodded indifferently and said, “If you think those people are a problem, just kill them. With our strength, we might not be able to handle a large number of magical beasts here, but with those four’s abilities, I believe Du Fan alone could take care of them without even needing the rest of us to intervene, right?” Du Fan touched his nose and chuckled softly. “Miss Tasia, you’re joking. Although I do have some strength, dealing with those four at the same time is beyond my capabilities. If we really have to fight, I’ll need your help. With your strength, eliminating those four should take just a few minutes.” Tasia looked up at Du Fan a few times, her cold eyes scanning him before she said indifferently, “When dealing with those Corpse Wolves earlier, your skills were truly remarkable, Du Fan. Even I might not have been able to do that.” Du Fan smiled bitterly. “Miss Tasia, you’re really joking. What I did earlier wasn’t real skill at all. It was just to save my life—I used all the magic scrolls I brought from home. If it weren’t for those scrolls, I’d probably be just another piece of meat on those Corpse Wolves right now.” “Is that so?” Tasia glanced at Du Fan thoughtfully. “Never mind. Whether it’s true or not, you know best. Anyway, talk about those four. What exactly do you plan to do? If you want to kill them right away, hurry up. I don’t want to play any role here.”

Du Fan’s smile froze as he realized that Tasia must have heard almost everything he had said just now. He found Tasia’s temperament somewhat difficult to understand and wasn’t sure if she was angry or not. He didn’t dare to dwell on this issue any further and simply said, “Let’s ignore those four for now. Let’s see what they really intend to do. Although I personally think they aren’t spies from Roland Academy, it’s just my guess after all. Right now, we don’t need to do anything but wait… I think by tonight, by tomorrow morning, all the truth will become clear.”

Tasia frowned and said, “It doesn’t matter to me if you want me to wait, but Lord Alfred and the others are hiding outside. Whether they can endure the whole night is the real problem.”

Du Fan smiled and said, “Alfred and the others are noble Temple Knights. Even if they didn’t hide anywhere and just stood here on this ice field, they wouldn’t have any problems. Could it be that their Light Combat Energy is only for show?”

Tasia gently shook her head, essentially agreeing.

After a long while, she suddenly asked, “So… what should we do now?”

“What do we do?” Du Fan made a gesture and casually pulled another blanket from a corner of the tent. “Of course, we go to bed. Are we going to stay here waiting foolishly? Don’t worry. No matter who those Snow Fox Mercenaries are, they’re not stupid enough to take action now. Whatever they plan to do, they’ll wait until the middle of the night. Until then, we can rest properly. To be honest, I’d prefer if they were from Roland Academy. That would at least mean Roland Academy is ready to take action. Living in constant fear like this isn’t a solution!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Du Fan tossed the blanket onto the bed and, ignoring Tasia’s pale face, prepared to go to bed.

Tasia stared coldly at Du Fan. After he climbed onto the bed and started undressing to sleep, she suddenly snorted and said, “Young Master Du Fan, what are you planning to do?”

Du Fan turned to look at Tasia, scratched his head in confusion, and said, “Sleep! You can’t even tell that, can you, Miss Tasia?”

Tasia was stunned, almost unable to breathe. After struggling for a while, she continued, “Are you… really going to sleep like this?”

Du Fan looked at her and felt amused, but his expression remained puzzled. “Can’t we sleep together without doing this? Miss Tasia, I think I’ve already said it—I’m not some casual person… If you… if you need anything, you can go to those Temple Knights outside. I think they won’t refuse you…”

Seeing Du Fan’s utterly innocent expression, Tasia felt as though all the air had been trapped in her chest, unable to breathe. She knew well that to act out a role in front of the Snow Fox Mercenaries, she would have to share a tent with Du Fan. With limited space in the tent and no bed, would she have to sleep on the icy ground?

Glaring at Du Fan fiercely, Tasia pulled the blanket over herself and lay down. She wasn’t afraid that he might do anything to her—after all, Du Fan’s reputation was well-known. As the most devout believer in history, he probably had no interest in women. Even if he did, she could easily make him lose interest forever.

Before lying down, Tasia muttered, “If you dare touch me tonight, I swear you, the most devout charlatan in history, will turn into a living ice lolly!”

Du Fan smiled lightly in response, then turned over and lay down. But even as he slept, he couldn’t help but have some other thoughts. In this situation, could he really be considered sharing a bed with this icy beauty from the imperial aristocracy?

The night grew increasingly dark, and the north wind outside the camp seemed to have stopped as well.

On this small bed, the two of them were inevitably a bit crowded. Du Fan was fine—he was extremely annoyed by the behavior of the people from the Holy Church today. Given his vengeful nature, treating Tasia like this was a small way for him to vent his frustration, so he fell into a deep sleep soon after.

As for Tasia, though confident in her own strength, it was still her first time sharing a bed with a man. Although everything she was doing was under the guise of serving the God of Light, such an act still felt awkward for a woman. Even if they didn’t do anything together, her heart kept pounding wildly from nervousness, making it impossible for her to sleep.

After what seemed like an eternity, suddenly, something seemed to approach the tent. A faint shadow, illuminated by the remaining light from the campfire, fell over the tent.

Tasia felt a surge in her heart and couldn’t help but reach out to pat Du Fan’s face, saying, “Du Fan, they’re about to attack!” Before she could finish speaking, a small gap appeared in the tent’s curtain, and a figure with well-defined contours slipped in lightly. A hint of confusion flashed in Tasia’s eyes as she quickly cast an invisibility spell on herself, perfectly hiding her presence.
