Chapter 007: Burning the Black Dragon (Part 1)
In mid-air, Leoport felt increasingly frantic!
His spear, charged with combat energy, was thrust out wildly, yet not a single strike managed to harm his opponent in the slightest. The guy who had been thoroughly suppressed by him just now now seemed like a completely different person—each casual swing carried several times the power of before. Relying on the power generated by his secret technique, he managed to hold his own, but every time the opponent swung, the sword energy left a wound on him!
After exchanging blows at full strength over a dozen times, he began to feel exhausted. The secret technique that forced him to boost his power caused severe damage to his body. Even under normal circumstances, he would never dare use it for so long. Now, he felt he no longer had any extra strength to launch an attack. Yet the opponent appeared completely relaxed, as if his combat energy was endless!
A joke! What kind of joke is this?
Even a Saint-level warrior could never use combat energy in such a manner! But the opponent’s energy seemed inexhaustible, coming at him wave after wave.
In Leoport’s eyes, Du Fan’s way of using combat energy was pure waste! Suddenly, he raised his sword, sending a blade of light toward Leoport’s left side. By the time Leoport reacted, the opponent was already thrusting a sword at his chest! Just as Leoport tried to retreat, the opponent reappeared behind him, unleashing another blast of combat energy!
Was he just teasing him!?
A strange feeling surged in Leoport’s heart. Although the opponent seemed to waste energy with every move, the fact that he could still use such “wasteful” tactics against an opponent meant his strength was undoubtedly greater than Leoport’s. If he really wanted to kill him, he wouldn’t need to go to such lengths—just one slash would be enough, and Leoport’s current state couldn’t withstand it!
It felt… like a cat playing with a mouse…
The cat always plays to its heart’s content before catching the mouse!
Suddenly, Leoport felt a deep sense of fear—what if the opponent really killed him…?
But in reality, Leoport was overthinking things.
Du Fan didn’t defeat him quickly, not because he wanted to toy with him, but because he gradually realized that although the combat energy stored in the Rainbow Stone was powerful and easy to use, there was always a strange feeling associated with it. It was like a soldier accustomed to using a rifle that required one bullet per shot suddenly wielding a machine gun with nearly unlimited ammunition—though he wouldn’t lose control, it still gave him a strange sense, making him feel as though he couldn’t fully command his weapon. That was exactly how Du Fan felt at the moment. Though each of his moves was extremely powerful, he dared not strike Leoport directly, as he couldn’t control the force. If he accidentally cut the prince in two… once the Lanii Empire went berserk, it would be hard to guarantee he wouldn’t end up as a gift… Finally, the round of attacks slowly ceased. Du Fan seemed unharmed, with only the glow of combat energy from his Holy Radiance Staff still shining brightly, while Leoport was drenched in cold sweat. His body was covered in wounds of various sizes, none of which were fatal, but they kept leaking thin streams of blood. As the blood flowed, Leoport felt his combat energy draining away, until even his spear seemed incredibly heavy in his hands. He knew clearly that this wasn’t just because of his injuries, but mainly because using secret techniques had exhausted his strength, leading to this situation. Seeing the blood continuously flowing from his opponent, Du Fan frowned briefly before sighing softly and saying, “Are you planning to surrender on your own, or shall I keep fighting until you do? You must realize that you’re no match for me right now, right?” Leoport glared at Du Fan. After a moment, he sneered and said, “There is only a Leoport who dies in battle, not one who loses. We Lanii people prefer death to defeat!” With that, the prince of the Lanii Empire simply closed his eyes, released his grip, and let his spear fall. He simply closed his eyes and waited for death! But after waiting for a while with no movement, Leoport opened his eyes only to find Du Fan already very close, staring at him. “What do you mean by this?” Leoport said through gritted teeth. “Are you planning to insult me even before I die?”
Du Fan smiled gently and said, “Well, my esteemed Lord Leoport… you must be aware that I would never kill you, right? After all, you came here to negotiate peace! If I killed you, I would surely lose my own life… Killing you only to be killed by my own people? Such a foolish thing—I wouldn’t do it!”
“Well… whether you admit it today or not, the fact remains… you’ve lost… So, please leave! I won’t see you off!”
With that, Du Fan’s figure flashed as he rushed toward the location of the Fairies’ dwelling.
Leoport’s expression changed drastically. Great beads of sweat dripped from his forehead, his face turning extremely ugly. Staring at Du Fan’s figure, he finally couldn’t hold back and shouted, “When did I ask you to show mercy?”
“If that’s the case… then die!”
As soon as he spoke, Leoport suddenly stretched his arms backward as if embracing something, and waves of dark energy spread from his body, like burning combat energy…
Kill intent!
It was pure, unadulterated kill intent!
It seemed as though all sound vanished around them in an instant. Everyone’s heartbeat stopped abruptly, as if it would never resume! Around Leoport, the spreading black kill intent spread like a tide, eventually forming a huge sphere in front of him!
Black lightning flashed continuously on the sphere, as if it might explode at any moment. Leoport slowly raised his arms, and the black kill intent seemed to be lifted by him, gathering above his head!
The crowd around screamed. It was an instinctive reaction—under such intense pressure from kill intent, everyone became frantic and terrified!
Du Fan froze mid-air. He turned back to look at Leoport in disbelief. His eyes twitched violently. Although he could control powerful combat energy and possessed immense mental strength, facing such terrifying kill intent still made him sweat profusely, with a bone-chilling coldness spreading throughout his body.
Then Du Fan saw Leoport’s face—his face, twisted into something evil by rage!
He glared at Du Fan and said slowly, word by word: “Flame—Kill—Black—Dragon—Destroy—”
A roar like that of a dragon suddenly rang out, startling almost the entire imperial capital. Then, as the sound spread, a black mist like lightning emerged from the murderous aura in Leoport’s hands, eventually forming a pitch-black dragon that rushed fiercely toward Du Fan’s location.
Its massive body emitted a terrifying black mist, filled with immense murderous intent, along with its enormous dragon mouth, all aimed at Du Fan as if to swallow him whole!
“What… what the hell is this!?”
Du Fan took a deep breath, feeling utterly helpless. At this critical moment, that bastard still did such things?
As this attack neared him, Du Fan sighed and raised his Holy Radiance Staff high. This time, he held nothing back—every ounce of combat energy stored in the Rainbow Stone was unleashed in an instant. Staring at the ferocious black dragon before him, he softly sighed and said, “Holy Light Cross Slash!”
Immediately, he twisted his staff slightly, and a gigantic Holy Cross symbol appeared centered around Du Fan, charging toward the descending black dragon!
In an instant, the world lost all its colors, leaving only black and white light. All scenes, sounds… everything lost its original form, reduced to nothing but black and white, just like the world at creation!
Above the massive Holy Cross symbol, holy light shone brightly, seemingly resonating with something else. From afar, the sound of sacred chanting came from the cathedral…
Then the world regained its original colors.
The black dragon crashed into the Holy Cross symbol, spreading like a cloud of darkness. The deafening explosion forced everyone to cover their ears. All the clouds in the sky were blown away, and the entire world shook violently as black and white collided violently…
Then, with a sudden shock, a massive column of light shot into the sky, accompanied by a thunderous roar. The blinding light made people close their eyes, unable to look further!
When they opened their eyes again, the black dragon and the Holy Cross symbol had completely disappeared, leaving only two people standing in mid-air!
The two stood there in the empty sky, like gods!
