Chapter 003: Defeating the Enemy with One Move
Edward’s move astonished everyone present. The title of Master of the Magicians’ Guild was well-deserved!
Seeing this, Ampere sneered coldly and said, “Edward, do you really think your Frost Wand can take on my Sacred Radiance Staff? This is an ancient divine weapon passed down through the ages!”
Edward’s expression remained unchanged, and he simply interrupted, “No need for more words. Let’s fight!”
With that, his Frost Wand slowly moved forward.
Like the rise and fall of the sun and moon, like the shifting of stars, Edward’s gentle thrust condensed nearly all the magic power from his wand into that single point. Everyone thought it would be a devastating strike. But unexpectedly, he didn’t chant any spells or unleash even a trace of magic—he simply pointed lightly at Ampere.
“Hnn!!!” Everyone was shocked upon seeing this.
Francis’s eyes flashed with a hint of coldness, as if he had seen through the true nature of this move.
Anthony’s smile remained unchanged, but his brows seemed to raise slightly.
Du Fan’s eyes showed surprise as he heard Chenchen’s exclamation in his mind: “This person is even stronger than that so-called Sword Saint. Ampere, it’s over…”
Hearing Chenchen’s words, Du Fan was even more astonished. His heart skipped a beat as he began to grasp something…
Seeing Edward’s wand approaching, Ampere let out a vicious laugh and shouted, “Edward, are you stupid? Without a trace of magic, without a single spell—do you think you’re a Sword Saint? Do you think…”
At that moment, Ampere suddenly couldn’t continue. His heart clenched—Edward’s seemingly harmless thrust filled him with an overwhelming sense of powerlessness. It seemed no matter what move he used, he couldn’t block this strike. All his spells and forbidden techniques were useless against it. He didn’t even have time to summon even a tiny amount of magic…
And not only that—this strike seemed to grow larger in front of his eyes, to the point where he couldn’t resist or dodge it…
It was as if Edward’s seemingly non-offensive thrust sealed off all his escape routes! He had no other choice but to endure it head-on!
A shadow passed over Ampere’s face as his Sacred Light Staff instinctively met Edward’s Frost Magic Wand! With the power of a divine artifact, couldn’t he even take on a magician? Sure enough, Edward’s Frost Magic Wand pointed at Ampere’s Sacred Light Staff without hesitation, and then a crisp sound was heard, as if something had exploded. Everyone’s heart skipped a beat when they saw Edward’s wand turn into a cluster of shattered silver petals after the explosion! No way… Could a Sacred Mage be defeated like this? That’s impossible!? Before these thoughts could fully form in everyone’s minds, they saw Edward’s hand slowly emerging from the cluster of silver petals and covering Ampere’s Sacred Light Staff. Instantly, the multicolored light on the staff was completely drowned out. A hint of mockery flashed in Edward’s eyes, causing Ampere to feel an icy chill in his heart! He strained with all his strength, trying to pull his Sacred Light Staff away from Edward’s grasp, but suddenly he felt frozen, as if trapped in that space, unable to move even his little finger! Terrified, Ampere blurted out, “Impossible! How is that possible…?” But Edward simply smiled lightly and said, “What’s impossible in this world? Ampere, after all these years, you’re still at the peak of level nine. How disappointing… I thought you’d be stronger!” At that moment, a murderous intent flashed in Edward’s eyes. Without any visible movement, he just hummed softly, and suddenly Ampere let out a groan, his face turning deathly pale, his eyes bulging, and blood seeping from the corners of his mouth. Struggling, he muttered, “How… How is this possible!” Edward hummed again, “Didn’t I say? Nothing is impossible!” Then, Edward suddenly released his hand from the Sacred Light Staff, and the multicolored light reappeared. But before Ampere could show relief, he let out another groan and flew backward, crashing into Edward’s created energy field before falling hard to the ground.
From that single fall, Ampere’s seven orifices began bleeding, and he could no longer hold onto the Sacred Radiance Staff in his hands; it clattered to the ground. His body went limp, but he could still lift his head. He stared at Edward with an expression of disbelief, murmuring, “Edward… you… you…”
How did he do it?
How on earth did he do it?
In that instant, it seemed as if countless amounts of magic surged into his body. His own vast amount of magic couldn’t even resist such a surge—it had no chance to fight back. How was this possible?!
Ignoring the astonished gazes around him, Edward slowly walked up to Ampere, bent down to pick up the Sacred Radiance Staff from the ground, weighed it in his hand, glanced at Ampere lying there, and said indifferently, “I’m sorry, Ampere… You should have died years ago. Dying under your own Sacred Radiance Staff now is kind of a stroke of luck, I guess!”
As he spoke, Edward raised his hand. This time, countless magical lights flashed on the Sacred Radiance Staff in his hand, and then the divine weapon flew out of his palm, aiming straight at Ampere’s chest.
Ampere screamed and tried to dodge, but no matter what he did, he couldn’t move an inch. As he was about to die on the spot, suddenly a red light flashed, and with a sharp “ding,” the Sacred Radiance Staff was deflected and stuck diagonally in the ground.
At some point, Francis had broken through Edward’s energy barrier and stood in front of Ampere. He held the Blood Rose drawn from its sheath in his hand, which was trembling slightly.
Edward seemed to frown slightly, staring at the Blood Rose in Francis’s hand for a moment before saying, “So this is the Blood Rose? Truly a top-tier divine weapon in the continent. Even my Mage Guild probably can’t find a weapon better than yours. But Francis… you don’t think that just because you have this divine weapon, I’ll be afraid of you, do you?”
Francis replied calmly, “I wouldn’t dare!”
Edward snorted and said, “Then what’s the meaning of blocking my move? Step back. As long as you stop doing unnecessary things, I’ll pretend I didn’t see what just happened… But if you really want to attack again, then I’d like to see just how powerful you, a Holy Warrior, really are!”
Francis’s expression was complex. No matter how arrogant he was, he clearly understood that it was utterly impossible to confront the Mage Guild with a single strike. After a long while, he finally sighed and said, “Honorable President of the Mage Guild, Lord Edward, if I had a choice… I would never want to fight against you. But I already promised His Highness the Crown Prince that if others died, so be it, and if the mission failed, it failed. But Master Ampere must be saved—he’s a valuable asset to the Crown Prince. I can’t let him die here under any circumstances.”
The muscles on Edward’s face twitched slightly before he sneered after a moment and said, “Is His Highness the Crown Prince willing to go against our Mage Guild for a rebellious mage? Very good! Very good! Lord Francis, since you’ve said such things, I hope you won’t regret it…”
Francis sighed. “Then let’s fight, Lord Edward… Let me see the power of your holy magic!”
At that moment, the blood-red rose in Francis’s hand was raised, with holy energy slowly emanating from it—though weaker than before. Clearly, constant battles against stronger opponents had weakened this powerhouse of the continent.
Edward snorted and said nothing more. He glanced at Ampere, who still couldn’t stand, and smirked coldly before saying lightly, “Well then, since that’s the case, I’ll help His Highness Fischer solve a huge problem!”
As he spoke, a staff made of condensed magic slowly appeared in Edward’s hand. Still composed of ice, it now carried a hint of gold. Clearly, the President of the Mage Guild hadn’t used his full strength earlier, but now he was truly unleashing his holy-grade power!
A serious look appeared on Francis’s face. He stepped back slightly, aiming the blood-red rose at Edward. His energy was locked on Edward, ready to strike the moment Edward moved.
If this battle broke out, it would likely be even more intense than any previous one.
But just then, Anthony, who had been watching the whole time, suddenly sighed and murmured, “What a shame. Trouble has arrived. It seems today’s exciting show is over!”
Before he could finish speaking, an astonishing killing intent enveloped the entire scene!
