Chapter 003: Cause and Effect

Chenchen woke up from her dream. She opened her eyes in a room covered with velvet. Moonlight streamed in through the windows, adding a dreamlike beauty to the room.
“What’s going on?”
Chenchen murmured to herself. Just moments ago, the faint connection between her and Du Fan’s souls seemed to tremble. She could sense Du Fan’s emotions—a mix of pleasure and hatred, destruction laced with desire and cries, struggle amidst tears and dreams…
She had never felt anything like this before.
The green dragon slowly opened its eyes. Ever since the members of the Temple Knights arrived in this small town of Rui, Chenchen had never left this room. She had never trusted Tasia or Nicholas. If it weren’t for Du Fan, she would never have stayed here for so long. So, she had no choice but to summon that useless green dragon.
At this moment, Isela was less than a meter tall. Through daily practice, its dragon transformation skills had become somewhat proficient. Now, Isela was a mini-dragon. Of course, though its strength might be the weakest among dragons, in the human world, no one dared underestimate it.
It looked up at its master, that incredibly powerful woman. Her mood seemed a bit off tonight. The great Dragon God Isela should leave quickly, lest she become a punching bag again.
Isela thought to itself as its gaze swept across the room, finally stopping under the wooden bed—probably the safest place in the room!
Isela carefully squeezed through, but after taking a few steps, it suddenly felt a tingling sensation on its scalp. Noticing its master’s icy gaze, it hurried over, tilting its head like a loyal dog, almost sticking out its tongue.
Chenchen reached out and “gently” stroked Isela’s head for a while before softly exuding breath. “Isela, I want to assign you a task…”
Isela stuck out its tongue, nodded, and spoke in human language softly, “Yes, my great and powerful master.”
“Du Fan, my little master, seems to be in trouble,” Chenchen whispered. “Perhaps I misjudged. Right now, he needs some help. Go ahead… Look, there’s danger in the north, but with your dragon skills, you should be able to handle it, right?”

Isela shrunk back, pulling in her head. For someone who took such pride in his head, how could he not know what lay in the north? There were magical beasts, forests, and endless fears—but none of these were truly terrifying… Yet in the north also lay the Gate of the Abyss, a place even the strongest warriors on the continent regarded as a hellish realm. That was what was truly frightening.

From what Isela knew about the master of that master, he was by no means someone who would easily encounter trouble. Now, even the great master said he was in some sort of trouble. Had he gone to the Gate of the Abyss?

By the Dragon God! Even if I had to sleep for another thousand years, I would never go to the Gate of the Abyss!

But with Chenchen’s cold gaze fixed on it, Isela suddenly trembled all over. Compared to the great Dragon God, this master before him seemed even more terrifying. Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to say, “Master, I’ll go right away…”

Chenchen nodded slightly. After hesitating for a moment, she clapped her hands lightly. A storage ring appeared in her hand. She tossed it to Isela and said with a faint smile, “I kept forgetting to give this to him. Please take it for me!”

Isela didn’t dare ask further. He flew swiftly out through the open window. His green figure shot like lightning. Once in midair, his size expanded countless times, restoring his true form as a giant dragon. He flapped his fleshy wings and headed north at high speed.

Fortunately, it was night. If anyone had seen this scene during the day, who knows how many more people would have been terrified? How many years had it been since such legendary creatures as dragons last appeared on the Roland Continent? Perhaps only those who had been to the Dragon Island could know.

Chenchen watched Isela’s retreating figure and let out a soft sigh. Her body seemed to soften, filled with a strange sensation.

“What on earth has he done?”

Chenchen asked herself in a low voice, her expression utterly peculiar—a feeling she hadn’t experienced in ages.

Perhaps I’ve been away from this world for too long!

Chenchen thought to herself, her gaze still fixed on the north…

…

A hint of white appeared in the sky. Even deep in the Valley of Submerged Waters, one could sense that faint light.

Silence reigned everywhere, as if it were a world of death.

Du Fan slowly sat up, a strange expression on his lips—whether joy or sorrow, it was hard to tell. The anger from last night had consumed his reason, forcing him to do such things. Though it might not be irreparable, killing such a beautiful woman was somewhat regrettable. It seemed his heart was still too weak.
Or maybe it was simply because this woman had unwittingly become his first woman?
Du Fan felt no guilt. Such emotions had long been abandoned along with his conscience. Beneath his guise of kindness and purity lay a wicked and dark heart.
Since this woman dared to play with fire, she must bear the consequences. He, Du Fan, was no good man. When his accumulated anger erupted, it became a madness even he could not control.
Du Fan smiled faintly, looking holy and noble.
He slowly examined his own body and was slightly surprised. Unnoticed, his strength had improved, reaching level five? Had the Essence of God taken effect without him realizing it?
Du Fan tilted his head for a moment before dismissing the thought. He would address this question once he left this damned place.
A faint noise came from behind him, followed by unmistakable cries of pain. These sounds pulled him back from his thoughts.
Du Fan had no idea what expression his face wore—indifference? Pride? Or false pity? A sense of pride arose in him, and with a smile, he turned to look at the beautiful woman struggling to sit up.
Reine supported herself on the ground, using all her strength to sit up. She grasped her robe to cover her naked body. Though she made no sound, her pale face and cold sweat on her forehead showed how difficult it was for her to move even slightly.
She slowly exhaled, pushing aside her messy hair. Her childlike face remained innocent, but her beautiful eyes were filled with hatred, despair, and anger.
Seeing her gaze, Du Fan couldn’t help but smile inwardly. He remembered a famous saying from his past life: If looks could kill, he would have died a thousand times by now…
Du Fan smiled gently as he reached out to touch Reine’s slender thighs.
Her legs, once smooth, straight, and graceful, were now covered in bruises—the result of a night of madness.

Watching Du Fan’s smug smile, Ringo suddenly raised her hand and slapped him. Du Fan still wore a cold smile on his face as he stared at Ringo’s chest, not flinching at all. Her weak slap barely touched his face—it was more of a caress, a gentle touch. The lack of force in her strike left her weak and pale, almost causing her to moan. Though she was skilled, she was after all just a shaman priestess; she lacked extraordinary strength or fierce combat energy. As Du Fan’s hands, like venomous snakes, touched her thighs, she tried to push him away but couldn’t muster any strength. Not to mention now—even when she was at her best, without magic, she was no match for Du Fan. Of course, with magic, Du Fan wouldn’t be a match either, but given her current state, she couldn’t even use magic. Du Fan looked at her and suddenly smiled slightly, saying, “Miss Ringo… I’ve told you before not to test my limits. I have very limited patience. When I go crazy, I don’t know what I might do. I’ve also told you… for an angry man, a naked woman might be a good outlet… Well, I might have been a bit rough last night, but didn’t you enjoy it in the end? I only wanted it once, but since you kept cooperating, wouldn’t it be unfair of me not to go the extra mile?” “Tch!” Ringo spat fiercely, the spit landing right on Du Fan’s forehead. Du Fan smiled faintly, reached out to touch the spot on his forehead, and said, “Miss Ringo, we both know why this happened. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself—no one else. Yesterday’s actions lead to today’s consequences. Since you like to play with fire, you must be prepared for it to burn you back. Even if it burns you to death, you can only accept it without complaint. When will you ever be qualified to complain?” Ringo agreed silently—she indeed had no right to complain. Du Fan laughed heartily as his hand slowly moved upward, his mouth approaching Ringo’s ear. In a voice only the two of them could hear, he whispered, “So now you can tell me… What exactly did you want to say last night?”
