Chapter Seventeen: Possession by a Demon
Looking at this beautifully shaped girl with a distorted expression, Kommer couldn’t help but feel an urge to laugh out loud. Was this really the holy maiden Elena, or Umma? Kommer couldn’t be sure for now, but one thing was certain: Umma clearly hadn’t truly conquered this holy maiden Elena, as could be seen from the hatred in the girl’s eyes. Yet it seemed Umma hadn’t gained nothing either—she had at least managed to take control of her body, though it seemed a long way off from controlling her soul and thoughts.
This was a special secret chamber on the second floor of Fort Damorensk. The Eye of Darkness provided an excellent source for restoring Umma’s dark essence. After the battle on the Bosen Plains, Umma returned to the Eye of Darkness to recover. Kommer advised her not to rashly interfere with her prize—holy maiden Elena—until she was fully recovered, but obviously, she ignored his advice.
Kommer suppressed his laughter and shook his head. Haste makes waste—why couldn’t this guy understand such simple truths? The power and determination of this holy maiden Elena far surpassed those of Lomei. Even Kommer couldn’t claim he could subdue her without additional special methods. And yet Umma wanted to seize control of her despite being severely injured. If not for Kommer coming to this chamber, she might have wasted such a perfect body.
“Umma, can you speak through her body?” Kommer sat down and asked with a curious smile.
“Of course. Do you think I can’t?” Before Umma’s sharp voice faded, another cold, angry voice came out of the same mouth, “Despicable! You wretched dark scum! Your delusions will never succeed!”
Kommer stared in astonishment at the beautiful girl before him. What was going on? Seeing her delicate face twist and her lips flutter open and closed, he finally understood—two souls were still fighting for control of this body, and it seemed unlikely either would gain the upper hand anytime soon. It was absurd. Kommer’s interest grew even more. To witness such a rare spectacle was truly worth it. Perhaps even more wonderful things would happen in the future.
“Uh, Uma, it seems you’re in trouble. This holy maiden told you not to have delusions—her body is pure. How can you, a wretched undead, commit such vile acts?” Komer crossed his arms and smiled as he “criticized” Uma. “Alas, it seems your reputation among the holy maiden is quite poor. I suggest you improve your image in her eyes; maybe then she’ll show mercy and give you a chance.”
Komer’s exaggerated teasing not only enraged Elena but also made Uma furious.
“Scum! Wretches! You shameless bunch! Even though you’re nobles of the kingdom, you’re nothing but demons!”
“Komer, are you mocking me? It seems you’ve forgotten your promise to me!”
Two completely different voices came out of her mouth one after another. This ventriloquistic performance amazed Komer, while the girl’s pure face alternated between anger and distortion, making him even more eager to tease this unique being with two souls.
“Scum? Wretches? Demons? Miss Elena, the demon has already possessed you. Did you only realize it now?” His voice suddenly turned icy cold. Komer’s sinister smile seemed even more terrifying to Elena. “When your Light Church decided to help that fool Philip fight me, you should have considered the possibility of failure. Do you really think your Light Church is omnipotent?”
“Uma, you really disappoint me. I’ve warned you not to be so arrogant. Hundreds of years have passed, and clinging to old ideas will only lead to losses. The people of the Light Church don’t give up easily. Now that you’ve failed, do you still want to shift the blame onto me? How can I have failed to keep my promise? Didn’t I give you this holy maiden’s body? And that was without any resistance from her. How did this happen? Didn’t you refuse my help in taking possession of this body? It can’t be my fault.” Komer sneered at Uma, his expression shifting rapidly between mockery and anger—quite exhausting. “Do you still need my help? I have countless ways to deal with such scum, easily.”
The girl’s pale face was still probably controlled by Elena, her furious gaze burning into Komer’s face. But Komer didn’t care at all; in fact, he found pleasure in tormenting these self-righteous Light Church members. He wasn’t a sadist, but he made an exception for them.
“Demon, you won’t succeed. Our Church of Light will soon scatter you wretched dark creatures to dust—your fate will be terrible!”
The girl’s offensive remarks were utterly lacking in originality, which greatly disappointed Komer in the eloquence of this Holy Maiden of Light. He loved hearing her curse him; an enemy’s curses only proved his own strength, and that was his source of joy.
“Is that so? I’m so scared. Will Julius cast me into hell, or will Vazinki send me to the stake? Or will Nojora personally execute me? I think I’d rather have Frenster sing a requiem for me!” With a frivolous whistle, Komer found himself in such high spirits that he felt as if he’d returned to the reckless life he once led in Cyprus years ago. “I’m really looking forward to it, hell—my favorite. Why isn’t anyone here to see me off?!”
“Giggle, Komer, you’re so cruel. This will drive her mad. I never knew you had such good eloquence; I’m so excited.” Uma’s shrill voice showed that she had regained control of those cherry-red lips. Her words revealed a darker, more twisted psyche than Komer’s. “Hey, is there any way to make her even more agitated? I can already sense her excitement rising.”
“Is that so? I’m extremely eager. As for methods? Of course there are. We have all the time in the world—take our time, no rush.” Komer smiled as he stared at her heaving chest. Once evil thoughts broke through the barriers and emerged from the depths of the soul, they could no longer be suppressed, growing larger and larger like inflating air. “I need to think carefully about how to drive our Holy Maiden Elena to her peak excitement, right? Some people might never get to enjoy such treatment in their entire lives.”
Vile and filthy words spilled from Komer’s mouth, nearly bursting Elena’s lungs. How dare this shameless guy use such dirty language to insult her in front of her—insulting the purest and most chaste Holy Maiden of the Church of Light! Oh God of Light, have you truly lost your power, allowing such a devil to stand among mortals?
Seeing Elena’s slender body trembling slightly within her already somewhat dirty white robe, Komer felt even better. He hadn’t expected this trip to bring such a pleasant experience—truly worth it. It seemed to offer him another chance to find enjoyment. Having such a stubborn yet self-proclaimed pure Light Saint to torment would surely enrich his life greatly.
“Uma, it seems your primal power still hasn’t fully recovered. Is it because this guy’s core heart is too pure, preventing you from infiltrating it?” Komer ignored the girl who was almost biting her lip. He needed to understand the real situation first. She had been in his care for over a month, spending her days in the basement. If not for his servants bringing her food regularly, it was uncertain whether her body would die from the struggle between the two souls.
The muscles on the girl’s face twisted again, clearly as the two souls fought over control of her lips. “Komer, it’s both. This guy must have grown up in the Light Church. Her pure Light heart is so untainted that it almost erases my dark primal power. It’s a shame my body is severely damaged; otherwise, I could also gradually turn her pure heart into dark primal power.”
“Hmph, it all boils down to your insufficient strength. Weren’t you always bragging about your endless dark power? How can you not even handle something like this?” Komer sneered at her. “I thought I’d see a complex and contradictory entity, but instead, it’s just some strange freak. How disappointing.”
“Komer, stop being sarcastic. I need your help. You have to help me break through her defenses. Once I break through her psychological barriers, I’m confident I can conquer her.” Perhaps facing his counterattack, her tone had changed slightly.
“Dream on! How could the sanctity of the pure heart be defiled by scum like you? You think capturing my body will allow you to achieve your despicable goals? What a ridiculous joke!” The girl’s expression finally returned to calm, her eyes, filled with disdain for the world, exuding an indescribable purity. A faint aura of holiness seeped through those eyes, making it even more radiant in this gloomy secret chamber. Even Komer had to admit that this holy maiden of the Light Holy Church was indeed formidable. Although Uma had suffered some injuries, three hundred years of her cultivation were not something ordinary people could withstand. The fact that she now found herself in such a difficult situation only served to highlight this woman’s extraordinary abilities.
