Chapter 7: The Black Contract, Section 4
The shark-shaped warship resembled a pitch-black monster. It gradually rose higher, adjusted its direction slightly, and then its massive combined engines at the rear emitted a deafening roar. Long streams of particles resembled dazzling rainbows, providing it with endless power. In just an instant, it shot away far into the distance, leaving no trace behind.
Behind it remained only a huge crater, serving as evidence of its presence.
Black Hair’s vision was precise.
That rough-looking, barbaric giant, Baroka, turned out to be a man of great loyalty. He readily agreed to Black Hair’s request without hesitation, willing to exchange a lifetime contract to work on the warship for the lives of his subordinates. To Black Hair’s surprise, in addition to this black contract, he received twenty more identical contracts. Baroka’s men, unwilling to leave their leader, used the same contracts to secure the chance to work together with him.
Thus, Black Hair didn’t need to worry about dealing with prisoners at all. After seizing all of Baroka’s resources, the “Fierce Wind” raised its bow and soared into the sky.
“Fierce Wind” was the name of this ancient warship. In the core of its control system, Black Hair found all records related to the ship, and he was astonished by its terrifying specifications.
The “Fierce Wind” was a standard heavy assault ship of the Huaguo Expeditionary Force. It weighed 173,020 tons, was 1,121 meters long, and 98 meters wide. The entire ship was made of high-strength polymer alloy, with energy-charged wave layer armor covering its exterior, granting it exceptional defensive capabilities. From a range of 30 kilometers, it could withstand up to thirty hypervelocity armor-piercing projectiles hitting the same spot without more than surface damage. Its built-in C-71 particle propulsion engines provided outstanding power, enabling it to meet the demands of long-distance raids and short-range assaults. In peacetime, it could reach a terrifying speed of 0.375 times the speed of light. When necessary, it could even discard part of its external armor to retain enough power and increase its assault speed further.
The ship’s weapon system relied primarily on electromagnetic cannons that fired real ammunition. There were over 500 firing points of various sizes throughout the ship. When all weapons were deployed, the volume of ammunition fired could instantly destroy a medium-sized city with a population of three million. Especially in battles between large warships, the intense artillery fire following a successful assault would be a disaster beyond any enemy’s imagination.
Besides these, to meet the demands of a long-distance expedition without resupply, this massive warship was equipped with almost all conceivable logistical facilities. In addition to necessary weapons supplies and food recycling systems, it even had amenities like cinemas and swimming pools, making it resemble a small city.
Undoubtedly, anyone who saw such statistics could only describe it as terrifying. Unfortunately, for Black Hair, there was little more than a bitter smile left.
The reason was simple: this warship consumed an enormous amount of energy. After a long period of isolation, it was uncertain how many of its facilities were still functional, but the energy stored in its energy pool was indeed running low. In the lower right corner of the large screen in the control room, the gauge representing energy reserves had turned bright red, with only a minuscule amount left, flashing continuously. Black Hair even doubted whether they could still fly into space.
Fortunately, among the resources of the Great Sand Bandit Barroca, there happened to be energy core elements standard to the Shek planet. Though not in large quantities and not directly usable by the warship, they could still be converted into energy, injecting some vitality into it.
Not much was needed—just enough to lift off into space. Black Hair knew that there, the warship’s energy recycling system could function. The ubiquitous free particles and light energy in space would bring endless vitality to this giant vessel.
So Black Hair didn’t bother considering the warship’s long-term sustainability. After determining the exact location of the Sulei Silver Planet and setting a course, he simply gave Blood Pupil a quick nod, not even giving them a chance to thank him, before diving into the warship’s weapons warehouse.
This was one of the dozens of weapons warehouses distributed throughout the warship, containing all the offensive tools needed for war. Black Hair had thought he would surely find the mecha he needed here, but he was greatly disappointed.
The entire warehouse was filled with fighter jets shaped like shadocks, yet not a single mech was in sight.
Damn it! Without hesitation, Black Hair headed to the next warehouse.
Small landing craft…
Next, self-propelled electromagnetic cannons…
Then, land battle tanks…
An hour later, panting heavily, Black Hair finally found what he was looking for: five mechanical mechs in a small room that clearly didn’t belong to a weapons warehouse.
Looking at those filthy things in the room, like abandoned babies, he could hardly believe his eyes.
What the hell were those things?
It’s just like trash that’s been forgotten for a long time. These mechs don’t even meet the basic conditions for deployment. Almost every mech has more or less damaged parts, and their armor is covered in thick dust, making it impossible to tell their original color. Only from their massive size and some of their ferocious weapons can one guess at their former glory.
Hei Fa had forgotten. Li Feng is a heavy assault ship. In Huaguo’s classification, this type of warship attacks by forcing its way in and delivering concentrated strikes. To achieve this, researchers even removed the missile systems capable of long-range sniping, replacing them with numerous high-attack-capacity electromagnetic cannons, pushing the ship to the extreme in terms of offensive power.
In other words, Li Feng itself is an incredibly powerful weapon. Although its attack method is simple, once it launches an attack, it’s like thunder—fighting mechs with insufficient speed will naturally be excluded from the attack and won’t even receive proper equipment. Even these five trash-like mechs are unknown to be remnants of some forgotten era.
But…
After walking around the room and carefully inspecting each mech, Hei Fa suddenly showed a hint of surprise on his face.
Modelless mechs. These are all modelless mechs!!
These are mechs that don’t follow military standards, designed for technological research and experimentation. They’re also known as trial mechs.
Compared to military-standard fighting mechs, these mechs don’t have a significant performance gap overall. But since they’re research mechs, each one has one or several features that far exceed those of ordinary mechs, serving as tangible bases for research and testing. On Earth in the past, these were top-secret secrets of all nations, representing the pinnacle of human technology.
Now, in Hei Fa’s eyes, how could these five tattered things still be considered trash? There’s only one description that fits…
A treasure trove!!!
