Chapter 53: Meeting – Section 9
Attacking enemies with the black hole cannon was no longer new to the Blood Wolves. With technological advancements, this weapon, their most powerful asset, had long shed its unreliable reputation, achieving an astonishing 78.7365% success rate in launches. In other words, the black hole cannon could now be used as a regular weapon without relying on luck.
However, it was the first time they were attempting to tear apart space alone without being able to see the enemy. No one knew if it would work. Yet, out of absolute obedience to Black Hair’s orders, the black hole cannon was quickly activated. The massive Thor Fortress floated forward to the front of the fleet and unleashed a small black sphere without hesitation.
As soon as the sphere was fired, it disappeared from everyone’s sight. When it reappeared, it was already tens of thousands of kilometers ahead of the fleet. Soon after, a terrifying explosion occurred. Countless black lightning bolts, like flying snakes, instantly tore apart the space in that area. The space within hundreds of kilometers around the point of attack collapsed instantly. On Li Feng’s large screen, a black hole pattern composed of countless lines rapidly took shape.
There was no sound, nor any dramatic lighting effects. The black hole simply appeared silently before everyone. The moment it formed, everyone felt the ground tremble beneath their feet.
Affected by the black hole, the fleet began to drift gradually. Before Black Hair could speak, the crew below immediately got to work. Commands were passed down rapidly. Almost all ships activated their attitude stabilization systems at the same time, and the engine nozzles at the front of the warships opened to provide counter-thrust.
The atmosphere in the cabins became tense, with officers in charge of the ship’s condition breaking into sweat. This wasn’t something to take lightly. Although the black hole cannon was their own fleet’s weapon, no one knew if it might strike them. Unlike ordinary attacks, there was no way to defend against the black hole cannon. Though the terrifying black hole was tens of thousands of kilometers away, once drawn in, who knew if anyone could escape?
In contrast to their tension, Black Hair and the others remained calm, which seemed unusual. Including the monkey, none of them showed any signs of stress; instead, they even had a faint, sinister smile on their faces as they stared at the expanding black object in the distance. No one said a word.
The black hole expanded at an astonishing speed, quickly reaching a massive scale. To the naked eye, it still appeared as a huge black vortex. (Note: This is an exaggerated description; in reality, a black hole’s gravity is so strong that not even light can escape, making it impossible to observe with the naked eye.) Yet on Li Feng’s large screen, the lines representing the magnetic field had become utterly chaotic. The atmosphere in the room was so heavy it made breathing difficult. Everyone stared intently at the magnetic field representing the black hole, waiting for Hei Fa to give the order to neutralize it immediately.
But Hei Fa’s order never came.
He was waiting…
As a commander, he certainly knew the power of the black hole cannon. He also understood the terrifying consequences if it wasn’t neutralized in time. In simple terms, the artificial black hole he created could very well turn into a real one. By then, it would be too late. Even if it were only 10,000 kilometers away from the attack point, or even hundreds of millions of kilometers, whether escape would be possible remained uncertain.
Yet he wasn’t afraid. He was betting that the enemy couldn’t bear such a cost either.
A black hole is a gateway between normal space and anti-space. If he was struggling in normal space, those enemies hiding in anti-space would suffer even more. After all, anti-space is far more sensitive to energy than normal space. A disturbance in energy here could escalate into an energy storm through the connection of the black hole.
And that would be an energy storm from anti-space—its destructive power and scope far beyond anything imaginable in normal space. At the very least, Hei Fa knew that his fleet might still be able to escape an energy storm in normal space, but in anti-space… death was certain!
No one could withstand the terrifying energy storms of anti-space—not even the gods!
Amid the oppressive atmosphere, time passed slowly. Sure enough, just as everyone was about to give up, a change occurred…
On Li Feng’s large screen, a distinct red dot suddenly appeared in the middle of the magnetic field representing the black hole’s changes. It then spread rapidly. The previously chaotic magnetic field became much more orderly as it expanded.
“Someone is neutralizing the black hole!” The officer in charge of observation was shocked and quickly reported it.
“Where?” Hearing this, Hou Zi perked up immediately, rushed to the large screen, and followed the officer’s finger. He couldn’t help but laugh. “Boss, it seems they can’t hold on anymore. Down there, things must be in complete chaos by now, right?”
“Mm.” Hei Fa also glanced at that red dot. His cold face showed no expression. “Wait a while longer. With the energy at this level, they can’t neutralize the black hole. Now it’s just a matter of how long they can hold on. In another half hour, even I won’t be able to save them. I’m curious—how many lives do they have to offer to the black hole?”
“Hehe…” Hearing Hei Fa’s final cruel words, the Blood Eye crew started laughing maliciously.
Hei Fa was right. Although the enemy could also operate in reverse space, they were clearly restricted—this could be seen from the positive energy level. They must be going all out now, but due to the limitations of reverse space, the positive energy they generated was far from enough to neutralize the black hole. Under these circumstances, at best it could only alleviate the situation, not neutralize it.
If they wanted to neutralize it, there was only one way… that was to appear in normal space as well.
It sounded complicated, but it actually took just an instant. As soon as Hei Fa finished speaking, a violent energy fluctuation occurred in the starfield beside the fleet, and a huge white light dot jumped out.
“A transition gate!!” There was no need for Hei Fa to give orders now. Almost at the same time, all the virtual puppets fired their strongest firepower.
This was firepower that had been built up for a long time. In an instant, beams as thick as buckets rained down densely like a storm, so fast that it was impossible to distinguish between batches. Although as carrier ships, the virtual puppets didn’t have strong firepower, who could forget that Hei Fa’s fleet also had the Thor Fortress? As a pure artillery-type flying fortress, its firepower was equivalent to that of an entire Moor fleet!!
In just an instant, three intense light clusters exploded at the transition gate. Along with the rumbling sounds coming through the channel, three heavily damaged black crystal giant ships slowly appeared before everyone’s eyes. Their hulls had already been shattered, looking precarious, and soon they exploded into fireballs right before their eyes.
Seeing this, cheers erupted among the Blood Wolf Fleet. Many people even waved their fists in excitement. They had been suppressed for too long, and now that they had caught the enemy, how could they let them go? Someone immediately came forward to ask if they could deploy the Snake Fangs. But to their surprise, Hei Fa refused.
“Don’t deploy them.” Staring at the still-expanding fireballs in the distance, Hei Fa’s gaze was cold and merciless. His left hand tapped gently on the armrest of the captain’s seat, as if calculating something.
“Why? My lord. The enemy has appeared already; we need to intensify our attacks. Only then can we crush them in one fell swoop,” said a Blood Wolf captain urgently.
“Shut up!” Blood Pupil snapped from beside him, causing the captain to tremble in fear.
“The leader has his own plans. Just carry out the orders. I really don’t know how you became a captain—so easily agitated. Don’t you realize that the easier an attack opportunity seems, the more likely it is to be a trap?”
“Well…” The captain’s face turned red under Blood Pupil’s gaze, and he couldn’t argue. He could only reluctantly end the communication.
It was just a minor incident. In fact, although the captain’s request wasn’t approved, the firepower from the other warships never diminished. The teleportation gate served as a target, driving all the shooters wild. The torrential bombardment lasted for over ten minutes, not weakening but intensifying even more.
Their results were also outstanding. After the first three Black Crystal giants destroyed upon exiting teleportation, another five ships were destroyed as they emerged. As time passed, more and more enemies appeared. Perhaps they also knew that staying in anti-space meant certain death, which explained their desperation—acting as if rushing to their doom.
Yet the more this happened, the more Black Hair sensed something was wrong. Watching more and more ships destroyed by his subordinates, his brows furrowed. The order to neutralize the black hole still hadn’t been given.
After a long while, just as the black hole’s expansion was about to reach its limit, Black Hair could wait no longer. With a command, the long-prepared Thor Fortress immediately fired hundreds of white light spheres, appearing directly at the center of the black hole. The powerful positive energy rapidly repaired the damaged space, halting the black hole’s expansion.
It was at this moment that a warning suddenly arose in Black Hair’s mind. Without hesitation, he shouted,
“Everyone, turn around! Aim behind us and unleash all Snake Teeth!!”
“What!?” All the crew were shocked.
Behind them, thousands of white dots suddenly appeared… teleportation gates…
