Chapter 49: The Last Warrior, Section 6

A murderous aura and icy coldness swept over Fatty in an instant, like a violent wind. He was immediately terrified and screamed, forgetting all courtesy as he scrambled away. Behind him, the guards also looked at each other in shock before scattering like birds and beasts.

At that spot, Monkey, Baroka, and the others started laughing.

To be honest, at their current level, they were far beyond these so-called planet managers. The harsh words they had spoken earlier were just meant to scare people. Black Hair wouldn’t bother with such low-level managers. Of course, if they were really insolent, a slight lesson wouldn’t hurt—but he would never go so far as to kill a planet’s ruler.

So, after seeing those annoying guys run away, Black Hair and the others simply smiled slightly before wrapping an arm around the stunned UncleBuick and quickly leaving the scene. Five minutes later, three shuttle-like vehicles rose from the outskirts of Cucare Town, soaring into the sky.

Inside the cabin, Black Hair sat with UncleBuick, continuously explaining the functions of the shuttle. Though UncleBuick claimed to be well-informed, he wasn’t as sharp here as before. He now resembled a puppet, nodding continuously with awe in his eyes—the shuttle’s incredible capabilities had utterly shocked him.

“If all the engine nozzles are activated and the propulsion system is used, theoretically, this shuttle can reach fifteen times the speed of light. But unfortunately, due to the laws of the universe, we can’t exceed the speed of light. So it’s just for show,” Black Hair said with a soft sigh, ending his introduction.

“The speed of light…” UncleBuick blinked several times, unable to process it for a long time. It wasn’t until Black Hair fell silent that he suddenly realized.

“So, if we don’t enter hyperspace, this shuttle has already reached its maximum speed?”

“Theoretically, yes,” Blood Pupil replied with a laugh. “But it comes at a cost. Traveling at that speed is very taxing on the shuttle. That’s why we usually use only one-thirtieth the speed of light. And here, with the high-density air on Xieke Planet, reaching five times the speed of sound is already quite impressive.”

“That’s still an amazing achievement!!” UncleBuick’s mouth fell open, his gaze toward Black Hair taking on a slightly different tone.

“Such powerful machinery. Hmm, and those warships above us. How much must that have cost? Black Hair, it seems you’ve been doing well these past times. You’ve found a good master.”
Since Black Hair hadn’t clearly explained his relationship with OldBuick, he still didn’t know these were Black Hair’s possessions. He thought Black Hair must have found a good master after leaving him to have risen to such a position. Still, OldBuick was well aware of Black Hair’s strength. With skills surpassing those of a Golden Warrior, he was indeed highly valued in this universe where strength mattered most. He was welcomed wherever he went.
Hearing this, Black Hair didn’t explain anything but simply smiled. Then he turned to Blood Pupil.
“Is everything ready?”
“Ready. Five hundred fighter mechs. One thousand three hundred construction mechs. Enough to turn this planet upside down,” Blood Pupil replied with a smile.
“Good. Let’s go now. Have OldBuick provide us with the coordinates. The mechs on the puppets are ready at any time. As soon as I give the signal, they’ll drop straight in.”
“Drop straight in?” Blood Pupil was stunned. “Boss, aren’t you planning to use landing ships? With over a thousand mechs, that’s quite a large force. Won’t it be considered an invasion?”
“No need to worry about that,” Black Hair said nonchalantly, shaking his head. “Xieke Star is just a third-rate little planet. Even if it’s called an invasion, it doesn’t matter to them. As long as we act quickly, finish our job, and leave, Marshal Wick surely won’t make things difficult for us.”
“I see.” Hearing this, Blood Pupil and the others immediately lit up with joy.
There was no way around it. The Blood Wolf Warriors were already the most aggressive among humans, and they were among the best of those. They usually craved chaos. How could it be different now? Blood Pupil’s words seemed worried, but they were just said for show. Dropping in directly was much more convenient than using landing ships. Blood Pupil certainly didn’t want to waste effort.
The atmosphere in the cabin immediately became lively. Blood Pupil and the others joked around. Meanwhile, Black Hair entered the coordinates provided by OldBuick into the holographic computer. Soon, they felt a shake beneath their feet as the shuttle began its descent maneuver.
This was the advantage of flying vehicles. At Black Hair’s shuttle’s speed, what would have taken OldBuick months or even half a year on foot could now be completed in just a few minutes. That’s why, barely having felt the ascent, the shuttle had already started preparing to land.
The scorched sky

The air was filled with dust, but the sky above a certain height remained blue. Below the ship’s deck lay an endless sea of sand, with turbulent yellow sands rushing around, making it impossible for Hei Fa to see the terrain below.
“Trouble. There’s a sandstorm breaking out right now,” Hei Fa said to Xue Tong and the others as he lazily sat back in his chair.
“A sandstorm. Another one. It seems Shike Planet has nothing else but sandstorms all day long. How can we carry out our work like this?” Xue Tong frowned, clearly impatient.
But there was nothing they could do about it. Sandstorms were natural phenomena and couldn’t be moved by personal will. If the sandstorm below continued, they could only wait in the air until it ended before they could start digging. Otherwise, descending forcefully might be possible, but digging would be impossible. The violent sandstorm could instantly undo all the work done by the construction mechs to remove the sand dunes—no matter how much effort was put in, it would be in vain.
While waiting, Hei Fa began talking to UncleBuick, asking him to explain the characteristics of this relic, how to enter it, and what happened to that demon they encountered earlier.
“That’s a vortex relic,” UncleBuick said, closing his eyes with encouragement from Hei Fa as he recalled that thrilling journey once again.
“A vortex relic is a huge desert vortex that draws in any object that gets close, pulling it down instantly. It goes on endlessly. In our field, we call it a vortex relic. Its exact formation is unknown. But generally, relics are located at the bottom of the vortex, where the suction is strongest.”
“A desert vortex, endless? That’s impossible!” Monkey interjected before UncleBuick could continue. “Deserts aren’t oceans—how can a vortex have no end? As long as the space below is filled, even the biggest vortex will disappear. That doesn’t make sense.”
“That’s just how it is. I have no reason to lie to you. Besides, there are many illogical things on Shike Planet. This endless vortex is just one of them. Throughout history, at least seven bottomless vortices have been discovered on Shike Planet. Yet to this day, no one has figured out their secrets.” UncleBuick glanced at Monkey casually as he explained softly.
But as soon as he said that, it was Xue Tong who raised an objection.
“Seven vortices? As far as I remember, there are only four. What are the other three?”

“I don’t know,” UncleBuick shook his head. “No one knows where they are. But their existence is absolutely real. Every year, at least a hundred people are swallowed by these vortices. Their locations are unpredictable, making them difficult to study. Even today, with such advanced magic technology, no one has ever figured out their secrets.”
“Moving vortices?” Hearing this, Black Hair was slightly moved.
“Yes, moving vortices,” UncleBuick nodded, looking grave.
“The seven vortices are the greatest secret of the Lost Desert. I suspect the one we encountered this time is one of them. But unlike the legends, this vortex seems to move very slowly, which is why I was able to locate it.”
“Won’t anyone else discover it? I remember you saying it was discovered by a large excavation team; there might be other survivors. And as the backer of that team, doesn’t that guy have a map?” After pondering for a moment, Black Hair continued.
“I can’t be sure about that. Things were too chaotic at the time, and we didn’t have time to figure out many things. But looking back, indeed no one else spread the news. That’s why I was threatened by Xiekexing’s research institute,” UncleBuick replied with a wry smile, rubbing the back of his head.
“Alright. Let’s put that aside for now. Talk about something else. Uncle, how did you get into this ruin?”
“That’s a complicated story. We used a lifting method. Twelve miniature flying machines served as cranes. We lowered a huge hollow tube from above the vortex, and once the vortex sucked it in, we entered through the tube. Just to transport that tube, we used five puppet insects. And the tube was only three meters in diameter, barely large enough for one mech to fit inside.”
“Oh, that does sound feasible…” Black Hair thought for a while before looking up.
“Blood Pupil, do we have such a tube?”
“No,” Blood Pupil replied immediately. But then she added with a smile, “But we can make one right away. Our virtual puppet giant ships have complete equipment factories, and we can manufacture parts whenever needed. Such a tube is a piece of cake.”
“That’s good. Then we can discuss the interior of this ruin and that demon.” “What kind of thing is that demon… exactly?”
