Chapter 48: The Greatest Thief in History, Section 10
Leaving the movements of the Moor Empire aside, Hei Fa had a rather relaxed time during this period. After being busy for half a year, dealing with one problem after another related to Death Star, Hei Fa finally got the long-awaited vacation. For a full month, he wouldn’t have to worry about anything on Death Star and could go wherever he wanted.
From that day on, Hei Fa disappeared from Death Star. Early in the morning, when Baroka, Xue Tong, and the others rushed to his room in the Cloud Tower, they found it empty. Only Sulei looked at them with an apologetic expression.
“Huh? You mean he just left without a word?” Xue Tong widened his eyes in disbelief.
“Yes. That’s what Mr. Hei Fa said. He also said that if nothing important came up during this time, there was no need to look for him. He would return on his own after a month and asked us to intensify our training during that time. He would assess us when he came back.” Sulei smiled sweetly, but her voice carried a hint of bitterness. Clearly, she was disappointed that Hei Fa hadn’t taken her with him. As a woman, she was emotionally fragile, even though the power she now held could rival that of a planet’s ruler.
“A month… He really values us. What if something unexpected happens?” Xue Tong laughed and asked jokingly.
“Mr. Hei Fa said that if we can’t handle even the slightest unexpected situation, he won’t even bother to assess us,” Sulei replied with a smile. Implicitly, it meant that if they failed, they wouldn’t be included in Hei Fa’s future plans.
Xue Tong naturally understood this was Hei Fa’s intention, so he exchanged a glance with Baroka. Both saw the wry smile in each other’s eyes.
It seemed this month would be a vacation for Hei Fa, but for them, it would likely be a trial. Judging from her tone, that assessment must be extremely important. Based on Xue Tong’s understanding of Hei Fa, it was likely the criterion for deciding who would go to the Moor Empire. If one failed, they wouldn’t even get a chance to participate in such a crucial mission.
For warlike individuals like Xue Tong and Baroka, this was nothing short of a disaster. It absolutely had to be avoided.
Thinking this, Xue Tong and Baroka nodded at the same time. “Then we’ll get started right away. Thank you, Sulei.”
“You’re welcome. It’s an honor to be able to help Mr. Xue Tong,” Sulei said, still smiling charmingly, just as she did when she was a little girl.
Unfortunately, at this moment, Blood Pupil didn’t have the time to appreciate her courtesy. By the time Sulei finished speaking, he had already pulled Baroka away and run off. He had to inform the Monkey. Otherwise, if that kid found out he hadn’t told him such important news, wouldn’t he fight to the death with him? As he ran, Blood Pupil thought to himself.
So soon, hundreds of ships rose above Death Star, heading straight toward the distant horizon. It was certain that within the following month, the training grounds set up by the Blood Wolf faction in the starfields near Death Star would be packed to capacity.
What about Black Hair? Where could he go after leaving Death Star? Besides the Blood Wolves, where else could be his home?
None… I have no home…
In the quiet cabin of the shuttle, only Black Hair sat alone. Through the window, the beautiful view of the starry sky was visible, but he wasn’t feeling happy at all.
At this moment, it seemed as if the whole world had only him left.
“It’s so… lonely…” With a long sigh, Black Hair took out a cigarette and lit it. As the thin wisp of smoke slowly rose, his eyes filled with confusion.
It was already the fifth day since he left Death Star. He had been drifting aimlessly through space, passing through several star systems along the way. He encountered many ships—some were merchant vessels, some were passenger ships, and even some were warships belonging to rogue pirates. Compared to them, his shuttle was like a small fish next to a shark.
Yet no one dared to underestimate this little fish. The blood-red wolf head at the front of the shuttle proved its owner’s identity to everyone. Since Black Hair took control of Death Star, no one in human society had ever dared to think of challenging the Blood Wolves. Even the usually reckless Pirate Alliance felt deep respect for this former member of their ranks. Over the years, they never dared to demand taxes from Black Hair.
This showed just how powerful his influence had become over the years. Probably no one in human society dared to stand against him. To rise from nothing to this level couldn’t even be described as success.
Yet at this moment, Black Hair still felt lonely.
Because he knew this wasn’t his world.
No matter how glorious he was in this world, no matter how famous he had become, no matter how many people relied on him for sustenance—in reality, he was still just one person.
A person who didn’t belong to this world.
A person without a home.
It felt so painful… Kurokami silently smoked, feeling the spasms deep within his heart, the agony of heartache. Yet on the surface, he remained calm. The shuttle beneath him moved smoothly through space, like a ghost.
That confused time seemed short, yet also so long. By the time Kurokami regained his senses, he found himself unknowingly above a planet.
It was a yellow planet.
“Shake Planet? How did I get here?” Seeing this yellow planet, Kurokami was instantly surprised. He got up, went to the control panel, and disabled autopilot before checking further. Only then did he realize he had already crossed most of human territory, returning to where he first arrived in this world.
Was it coincidence? Or some hidden guidance?
Kurokami shook his head and laughed self-mockingly.
In this world, there were no gods, nor any unseen forces at work. Fate was always something one decided for themselves. If he had believed in some unseen ruler, he wouldn’t be alive today.
As someone who defied fate, there was no need to worship it like a fool. The shuttle had arrived here unknowingly probably because Shake Planet’s coordinates were stored in its optical brain. Since he hadn’t set a specific autopilot destination, the shuttle’s optical brain had switched to random mode—just a coincidence.
“Well, since I’m here, I might as well go down and take a look.” Kurokami smiled lightly. He wondered how OldOld Buick was doing these days. Over the years, had his scavenger group grown stronger?
He was changing—so who could say others wouldn’t change too?
With that thought, Kurokami tapped his fingers a few times. The shuttle immediately made a graceful turn in space before diving toward the yellow planet below.
Upon entering the atmosphere, the first thing that caught sight was an endless expanse of yellow, with several rapidly growing cyclones. Kurokami’s sharp eyes immediately recognized them as tornadoes formed during sandstorms, and a faint smile appeared on his lips.
Sure enough, it was still the same scene. The sky over Shake Planet was rarely blue. Everything here seemed covered by yellow sand. Those who could survive here were mostly those who dealt with sand.
“Strong winds, uncovering wealth for the desert scavengers.”
This phrase truly described Shake Planet perfectly. But who could imagine what lay beneath this endless desert?
Black Hair didn’t know. In fact, although he had escaped from here, it was only within the laboratory’s passages; he knew nothing about anything else. Even so, escaping from the laboratory had exhausted the stamina he had accumulated over a thousand years. He eventually collapsed in the desert. If not for OldOld Buick finding him, there’s a good chance he wouldn’t even have any bones left by now.
Perhaps, on his return this time, he should also take OldOld Buick along to Death Star to enjoy a peaceful life. He just didn’t know if that stubborn old man would agree.
As Black Hair thought this, the smile on his face grew even wider. The shuttle jetted forward in the air without pause, leaving a long trail of exhaust as it headed straight for the center of the sandstorm below. As the leader of the Blood Wolves, Black Hair used only the best products from Death Star—this shuttle was no exception. It was one of the most perfect creations of the Black Prison clan. Though this sandstorm was fierce, it was nothing but a joke compared to it.
So soon, Black Hair’s shuttle descended into the range of the storm’s force. Outside the cabin, everything was a sea of yellow, with chaotic winds everywhere. Strong gusts carrying sand pummeled the ship’s surface, producing a loud, rhythmic noise like heavy rain.
Yet even with such intensity, the sandstorm had minimal impact on the shuttle. Sitting inside, Black Hair couldn’t even feel the turbulence. The yellow sand couldn’t disrupt the shuttle’s normal operation at all. The only downside was that he couldn’t see the outside directly with the naked eye.
With sand everywhere and nothing but yellow, what else could Black Hair see?
This situation lasted for a full five minutes before Black Hair’s vision cleared up. The shuttle had passed through the center of the sandstorm and was flying rapidly toward the coordinates he had set. The desert below was right in sight; Black Hair could even make out the individual sand dunes.
And there, in the middle of the dunes, was a convoy of vehicles as small as ants…
“That’s…” Black Hair sat up straight instantly, letting out a soft exclamation.
