Chapter 48: The Greatest Thief in History, Section 4
Hearing these words spoken by the black-haired man, both the monkey and Blood-Pupiled One fell silent instantly.
That’s right—wind.
Just as the black-haired man had said earlier, wherever something exists, there must be evidence of its presence. Blood-Pupiled One’s ability to move stealthily was indeed a masterful skill; not even the black-haired man’s sharp eyes could detect him. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t find him. The gentle breeze everywhere in the room served as the perfect eyes.
After all, wind is in motion. No matter how well Blood-Pupiled One hid, he was still a physical being. The ripples caused by the wind passing over his body would definitely differ from those in the normal environment. This was why the black-haired man could locate him. It was simple, yet highly effective. Unless Blood-Pupiled One could make himself as light as paper, he had no chance of evading the black-haired man’s detection.
But was that possible? Blood-Pupiled One was a huge, solid person. Trying to become as light as paper would be less practical than simply admitting defeat.
So, this confrontation was actually unfair from the start. Blood-Pupiled One thought he had dodged the black-haired man’s gaze, not realizing he had already fallen into a trap without even realizing it. Every seemingly casual move by the black-haired man was a trap, waiting for him to walk right in.
This was experience—something accumulated through countless battles. While such perception might seem like fantasy to ordinary people, for him, it was as natural as eating or drinking. It was deeply ingrained in him. Moreover, even if there had truly been no wind earlier, the black-haired man still had several ways to find clues about Blood-Pupiled One.
For example, body temperature, breath, or even a glance.
After the battle, the room immediately reverted to the atmosphere of Death Star. Blood-Pupiled One laughed heartily as he played around with the monkey, while the black-haired man sat quietly in Blood-Pupiled One’s original seat, patiently waiting for them to stop making a fuss. Despite the mess everywhere, no one paid it any attention, as if it were perfectly normal.
After some time, Blood-Pupiled One finally managed to get free from the monkey’s punches and walked over to the black-haired man, satisfied. He sat down carelessly on the table and waved two fingers.
Seeing this, the black-haired man couldn’t help but laugh. He reached into his pocket, took out a cigarette, and threw it at him.
“Since when do you smoke? That’s a bad habit. The numbness from tobacco slows down your combat reflexes. Don’t you want to die from it one day?”
“Stop talking. Only you and Baroque are allowed to smoke, but I’m not?” Blood-Pup interrupted Black-Hair’s advice impatiently. He lit the cigarette on his finger, took a deep drag, and then started coughing violently. “Cough, cough—this is fucking irritating. I don’t get why you guys like this stuff. Damn it. And the smell can be detected from eight hundred meters away. If I start smoking this, I might as well give up being a killer and just become a target instead.” “Then why do you still smoke?” Black-Hair rolled his eyes, completely losing patience with Blood-Pup. But he could understand Blood-Pup’s feelings. Having operated alone at Seven-Six Three-Star Station for so long—no intense battles, no favorite wines, and having to be extremely cautious under heavy disguise. It would have been fine if he were a full-time spy, but for an active guy like Blood-Pup, it was really tough. Besides, he had followed Black-Hair originally for the exciting life, yet Black-Hair had given him such an arrangement. It was hard to accept either way. So when he saw Blood-Pup acting up, Black-Hair could only smile bitterly and stay silent. It wasn’t until Blood-Pup had thrown away most of the cigarette butts that Black-Hair slowly spoke up. “This time…” “Wait,” Blood-Pup snapped, cutting Black-Hair off. Then he jumped right in front of him. “You can do whatever you want. But let me make it clear—this time, under no circumstances can you make me stay here anymore. I’m going crazy from those damned Moors. Every day, those skull-like faces. Oh, my God. This is the harshest torture for me. I’d rather go to hell right now than stay here.” “It won’t happen this time,” Black-Hair said with a smile, waving his hand to calm Blood-Pup. “Don’t worry. Not only you, but none of us will stay here anymore.” “So what do you mean?” Blood-Pup was shocked. Did Black-Hair plan to give up? Had all his efforts been in vain? “No, no, it’s not what you think. There’s another plan. Let me explain it to you slowly.” Black-Hair glanced at the bright artificial sunlight outside, gently pulled down the curtain, and then began to explain the plan slowly. It took over half an hour before Black-Hair finally stopped speaking. Blood-Pup, on the other hand, was already stunned, his mouth wide open but unable to say anything. “You… you’re actually going to take away the entire Seven-Six Three-Star Station!!” A shrill cry escaped Blood-Pup’s mouth, like a cat with its tail stepped on. The monkey behind him was ready and immediately covered his mouth. “Shut up! Do you want everyone in the station to know?”
“But…” Bloodpupil struggled a bit, dodging the monkey’s greasy hands before speaking hastily. “Boss, aren’t you being too bold? This isn’t a joke—it’s a star station. Do you know how many Moors, how many giant ships, how many officers, and how many crew members there are here? How many self-propelled armors?”
A flurry of questions was directed at Blackhair, but it had none of the effect Bloodpupil had hoped for. Blackhair merely smiled faintly a few times before stretching out a finger and tapping him on the nose.
“What does that have to do with me? Don’t forget—you’re the governor here.”
“You’re joking!?” Bloodpupil exclaimed again. “So what if I’m the governor? Can you really order me to send everyone away from the star station? If we do that, before the Moor Empire even notices, the guards here will kill us. The Moor Empire has strict regulations for protecting star stations. It’s not something a governor’s order can resolve.”
“Boss, your plan won’t work.”
“It has to work. Otherwise, why would I be here?” Blackhair sneered. “This time, besides 300 transport ships, I’ve also brought 20 imitation giant ships, along with one virtual puppet and all its Snake Teeth. If anyone dares to resist, just kill them. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we don’t need to worry about using the Snake Teeth. After all, this place still belongs to the Moors. Even if I destroy it, it certainly won’t be me who feels sorry about it.”
“Yes, yes, Bloodpupil, don’t worry. The power the boss brought this time is enough to level this place hundreds of times over. It’s just bad if the Snake Teeth get exposed. But as long as we’re careful, there shouldn’t be any problems.” Hearing Blackhair’s determination, the monkey chimed in as well.
“That’s true…” Bloodpupil touched his nose, agreeing with Blackhair’s reasoning.
After all, he was also a key warrior among the Blood Wolves. He was all too aware of the strength of his own forces. If they really went ahead, this star station might not even be enough for just a few of them to handle. It was just that the noise would be too loud, and Bloodpupil was worried it might provoke a fierce reaction from the Moor Empire.
But he didn’t expect that this had already been taken into account by Blackhair.
“Actually, we don’t even need to attack forcefully.” Just as Bloodpupil began to agree with the plan, Blackhair spoke up again, tapping the table with his hand.
“Blood Pupil is right. In the Moor Empire, although governors hold considerable power, they indeed cannot determine the ownership of a star station. But nothing is absolute. If I remember correctly, there’s a regulation in the Moor Empire’s star station management laws that we can exploit.”
“What is it?” Monkey was surprised; he didn’t expect Black Hair to have such a backup plan.
“Under the premise that a star station faces irreversible destruction, the governor is obligated to evacuate all residents. At the same time, wartime laws can be enacted to take control of all military forces within the station.” After thinking for a moment, Black Hair slowly replied. He remembered this regulation from cramming before his last competition. It was originally to qualify for the competition, but now it would be used as a tool for theft.
“There’s such a rule!?” Blood Pupil was immediately astonished. “But boss, how do you plan to use it? Are you really going to attack with a fleet and then have me issue a wartime order to take control of the station?”
“That would be too troublesome.” Black Hair shook his head and raised one finger. “I’ve said before—I’m here to steal, not to raid. So unless it’s absolutely necessary, I won’t use force. As for how to exploit this regulation, it’s actually quite simple. Just create a situation of irreversible destruction, that’s all.”
“Where are there so many factors of irreversible destruction?” Blood Pupil frowned and muttered discontentedly. “I’ve been at Star Station 763 for so long and haven’t seen such a thing. I think unless you deliberately attack with a fleet and turn this place into a mess, it’s unlikely.”
“That’s not necessarily true. Have you forgotten how we did it last time? Going in from within is often much easier than from the outside.” Black Hair sneered coldly. “Creating the illusion that the energy core is about to explode due to loss of control shouldn’t be a problem. And that reason should be enough to make the residents leave. By then, even you as the governor won’t be able to stop them.”
“Haha, indeed.” Reminded by Black Hair, Blood Pupil immediately thought of the trick they used on the energy pipelines last time. Back then, they could do it even with just ordinary identities, so now, with the cover of being governors, it was even easier. It wasn’t even impossible to actually touch the energy core.
After discussing this, the basic plan was finalized. All that remained was to carry it out. Black Hair and Blood Pupil gave more instructions before leaving the room.
The next day, a transport fleet disguised as merchants entered Star Station 763.
