Chapter 46: The First Battle of the Giant Mechs – Section 2
“Enemy… enemies!” The communicator’s mournful alarm echoed through the cabin. Chaos ensued immediately. Footsteps filled the air like beans being shaken, and reports poured into Duke Poseidon’s hands one after another. The once-depressed Duke suddenly stood up, his earlier despair vanished.
“Two light-years away. Transition point confirmed. Scale… giant. Coordinates: 24587, 14573, 15547, 5547. Confirmed again—data verified. Ongoing observation: the transition point is expanding, now super-giant in size, and still growing. Likely a Moorish dreadnought.”
Reports came in one after another. Duke Poseidon’s expression grew increasingly dark. The atmosphere in the cabin seemed to freeze, oppressive enough to make one vomit blood.
But no one complained. Instead, just like their leader, Duke Poseidon, their faces turned ashen.
Because the coordinates they had just heard were right behind their fleet!!
What did that mean?
“Order the entire fleet to turn around immediately. Change to defensive formation. Deploy long-range firepower. Disarm the 7200MM cannons! Fire in five minutes!”
Without hesitation, Duke Poseidon issued a series of orders before sitting back heavily in his chair. His wrinkled face was clenched tightly, and those around him could even hear him gritting his teeth.
Damn it… Blackhair was right. The Moorish emperor’s fleet had indeed arrived. Not only that, but it matched Blackhair’s predictions exactly—they had hidden deep in the starfield, waiting like bloodthirsty wolves for an opportunity to strike. And unfortunately, he was now their prey!!
The transition gate appearing behind them meant exactly what Duke Poseidon understood. With the training standards of his fleet, such a gate would allow him to destroy enemies ten times stronger than himself within fifteen minutes. The Moorish fleet’s training standards were surely no worse!
But the problem was that turning an entire fleet around took at least ten minutes!! He had no other choices left. Retreat or fight—only two options.
If he retreated, not to mention how many could escape, the Moorish fleet would surely pursue them. In that case, defeat would be total, and he would lose control of his entire patrol area. Even whether his rear base could be saved was uncertain.
In battle, they would face the disadvantage of encountering enemies in their rear. It was likely that not many would survive in the end. But at least it could buy some time, giving Marshal Wick and Black Hair enough time to react.
As a commander, Grand Duke Poseidon was well aware of his situation. He knew that from the moment he gave an order, he had no way back. Now, he had no choice but to fight!!
During this brief moment of thought, the enemy’s ships finally appeared before everyone’s eyes.
It was like a demon from the depths of hell. Under everyone’s gaze, from the dazzling white light of the teleportation gate, a pitch-black triangle emerged. Then, more and more ships appeared all at once.
“Oh, my God!” The communications officer gasped, stunned into silence as he stared at the massive entity slowly coming into view.
What kind of monster was this? Its size was enormous—almost as big as a Moor giant ship. But after all, a Moor giant ship still had the appearance of a warship, with a hull resembling that of a whale, so people could still accept it. But what appeared now was completely different. It was a massive structure shaped like a pyramid, entirely composed of geometric lines. Its surface was as smooth as a mirror; its black color made it impossible to tell what material it was made of, but its hardness was easily discernible.
If Black Hair were here, he could surely tell them what this was. Unfortunately, he was now far away in the 31st Star System, so Poseidon’s men had no way of knowing that this was the Emperor of Moor’s most terrifying warships… a collection of leech-like warships!!
In Black Hair’s words, they were black crystal ships!!
They could fire guided beams and could disassemble or reassemble at will—terrifying warships that were also the Emperor of Moor’s most deadly weapons!
It sounded complicated, but it actually happened in an instant. As soon as that black crystal ship appeared, the energy sensors on the fleet immediately went off alarm. At the same time, a red energy sphere suddenly appeared at the triangular bow of the black crystal ship, flickering like the light of a firefly.
“Oh no!!” Captain Rocott, who had been on high alert, immediately changed color. Without thinking, he rushed at Grand Duke Poseidon and pinned him down, shouting at the same time, “Order the fleet to evade!!”
It was too late!!
If, even in such an advantageous situation, the Black Crystal Giant Ship could still give the enemy time to evade, then it certainly didn’t deserve to be the ace under the Moor Emperor’s command. Just as the numerous warships tried to scatter, the energy sphere exploded abruptly, and countless fiery red beams, like fireworks, instantly filled everyone’s vision.
“It’s… truly beautiful…” one crew member murmured in awe.
“What beauty?! Evade! Evade now!!” Captain Rocott’s voice was distorted as he screamed frantically. As an experienced captain, he wasn’t as rigid as the ordinary crew members; from the moment the energy sphere appeared, he instinctively sensed its terrifying power.
But it was already too late. Energy beams traveled at the fastest speed in the universe, at least five times faster than conventional weapons. In such a short time, it was enough for them to deliver a devastating blow to the First Fleet. Those fiery red energy beams seemed to have life of their own, racing through space at high speed. One moment, they left beautiful trails in people’s minds; the next, they struck the rear of the fleet with force.
“Boom!!!”
A deafening explosion! A terrifying shockwave erupted from the rear of the fleet, sweeping forward like a tidal wave. Wherever it passed, human warships were flipped around like toys. On the flagship of Grand Duke Poseidon, the light points representing the hundred warships simply disappeared.
“No!!” Captain Rocott screamed in agony. But it was useless. Moreover, his own situation wasn’t much better. The power of the Moorclan’s Black Crystal Giant Ship was simply too great. A single explosion from the energy sphere could release tens of thousands of attack beams. Although some exploded directly at the rear of the fleet, others penetrated through the gaps between the ships. One of those beams struck their flagship head-on. A terrifying explosion sounded, and Grand Duke Poseidon’s flagship began to shake violently, like a leaf in a stormy sea.
Here, we must thank this experienced captain. If not for him bravely shielding Grand Duke Poseidon with his body earlier, those shakes alone would likely have killed him. Grand Duke Poseidon had witnessed a crew member lose his balance and be flung off the floor by that terrifying force, crashing into a protrusion in the corner of the room. His temple was visibly dented, blood flowing—clearly, he was dead.
But… Grand Duke Bosisi certainly had no intention of staying out of it. On the contrary, as a fleet commander, he was more powerful than any captain present. As soon as the first shockwave passed, he pushed Captain Rokot off him and stood up abruptly.
“What are the losses? Where are our flagship positions, and what’s the angle?”
“The losses aren’t yet determined. The situation is chaotic, Your Grandeur. But our flagship is at the center of the fleet and hasn’t been greatly affected. Only one ship has its outer armor plates damaged by enemy beams, but it seems fine. Also, they already have a firing angle!” an aide replied quickly, his voice rapid as bean-picking.
At this critical moment, every second could mean someone’s death. He wouldn’t, nor could he, waste Grand Duke Bosisi’s time.
“Good!” Grand Duke Bosisi glanced at the aide with satisfaction, showing a hint of approval. Then his face hardened.
“Order the 7200MM giant cannons to lock onto the target and attack immediately. There’s no need to avoid our own ships along the way. Focus all firepower at once to suppress that guy!”
“Yes!” Hearing this order, the aide shuddered, his face showing reluctance. Not avoiding one’s own ships meant that even if they were in the cannon’s firing range, they would still be struck. With the power of a 7200MM cannon, there would be no survival! It was clear Grand Duke Bosisi was determined to go all out.
Yet, despite his reluctance, the aide understood the urgency of the situation. After only a brief hesitation, he immediately passed on the order.
Within the fleet, those thirty giant ships recently acquired from Death Star came to a halt and began to transform. In the middle of their hulls, armor plates covering hundreds of square meters suddenly sank inward, revealing a massive cannon platform. It was so huge that it even matched half the height of the bridge. The thick barrel was pitch black and astonishingly large. What was even more terrifying was that the platform didn’t have just one barrel—it had twelve, packed closely together!
It was only then that most people realized the so-called 7200MM giant cannons provided by the dark-haired man were not ordinary single-barreled guns but twelve-barreled rapid-fire weapons! What terrifying power—that’s why Grand Duke Bosisi could treat them as his ultimate trump card!
“Boom!!!”
Amidst everyone’s anticipation, the giant ships finally fired…
