Chapter 4: Partners? Section 6

Black Hair’s actions were undoubtedly extremely surprising. Not to mention the girl beside him, even Blood Eye himself hadn’t expected it. A man as gentlemanly as he seemed would do such a thing. What angered him even more was…
Why did you get two Kari for yourself, but only pay me one for hiring me?
“Whoa!!”
With a synchronized sound, all the hooligans gathered around suddenly stood up. Every look they gave Black Hair seemed to regard him as an idiot.
“Hey, kid. Do you even know what you’re doing? Do you know where this is? Daring to meddle in Black Gold’s affairs—have you run out of things to do?”
“Damn it, that little girl Sulei is someone our boss has his eye on. You’re fucking asking for death, kid!”
“That kid, since you’re a stranger, forget about us Black Gold bullying people. Just grab your backpack and get lost—go as far away as you can. Listen well: that little girl Sulei owes Black Gold five hundred thousand, not fifty thousand. It’s not something some poor kid like you can handle.”
Chatter and angry voices quickly filled the entire bar. Surrounded by these thugs clearly prone to violence, the girl Sulei resembled a frightened peacock, curling up desperately. Her beautiful sapphire-like eyes were filled with tears. Her fearful and desperate expression made everyone feel pity.
But what could be done? In the city of Berlin, Black Gold’s influence was enormous. Holding 23% of the black-market arms market and having complex connections with various forces, they were far beyond the reach of ordinary people. Sulei’s father had offended Black Gold over a trivial business dispute worth less than five hundred Kari, resulting in the destruction of his family. This showed just how domineering they were.
To be honest, if Blood Eye hadn’t been sitting there, that foreigner with black hair would surely have been dragged away by them immediately to some dark alley for a good scolding. And tomorrow’s morning news would probably feature another story about some drunk vagrant killed by a car.
Unfortunately, they didn’t realize that not only sharp blades could kill.
Despite all the threats and being surrounded by these hooligans, Black Hair showed not the slightest sign of unease. His face still wore a gentlemanly smile, and his gaze didn’t even shift from Blood Eye’s face.
“Well?”

“…” The blood-red eyes stared blankly before he gritted his teeth fiercely. “I… I accept.”
“Good!” The black-haired man suddenly roared. He slapped the table hard, causing all the glasses on it to jump and shatter into pieces. The aggressive hooligans around him were also startled by his sudden outburst and immediately fell silent. The entire bar was dead quiet.
“My name is Blackhair. Go back and tell your boss that I want Sulei to be my guide. I’ll take on her debts. If he has any objections, he can come to me anytime.” Pointing at the crowd around him, Blackhair said casually.
“What? You’re taking on those debts? Do you even know how much they are? You can’t even pay them off by selling yourself! You brat, don’t be so shameless!” Responses came from the crowd.
“I know. Five hundred thousand, right?” Blackhair smiled gently, raising his glass. “I’ll pay off this debt in a month. But you guys must not harass my guide either. Now, get lost!”
“Damn you! You’re so shameless! This kid is looking for trouble! Guys, attack him!!” Hearing Blackhair’s casual words, almost all the hooligans became enraged. Someone shouted, and they immediately pulled out their shiny knives and charged forward.
The bar instantly turned into chaos. Tables and chairs were overturned, and delicate glass cups shattered. Although there were only over twenty hooligans, they turned this peaceful little bar into a mess. Even the bar owner seemed to have disappeared somewhere.
Perhaps these hooligans were used to causing trouble in Belin, or maybe they had a powerful boss. So none of them considered what their actions meant… until…
“Crash!!”
A head with many holes in it and rings hanging from it slammed hard onto the table, making a loud noise. Shards of the hard teak table flew everywhere, and in the horrified eyes of everyone, a circular hole appeared. A large amount of blood sprayed out as if it cost nothing, splattering the white walls with red spots, creating a strange abstract painting. The poor hooligan was thrown backward by the force, flipping through the air before crashing to the ground. His body convulsed violently—clearly, he was dead.

Slowly pulling back his left hand, the dark-haired man looked satisfied at the terrified expressions of the thugs around him. The scar on his temple twitched slightly, as if coming to life. His usually gentle smile now resembled that of a demon. Immediately afterward, he stretched out his left hand again. Everyone’s vision blurred, and when it cleared, they saw that one of their companions closest to the dark-haired man had his throat tightly grasped and held high in the air.

“I don’t like to repeat myself, dear young men. Can’t you hear what I’m saying?” The dark-haired man’s lips curled slightly, his smile turning eerily sinister, sending chills down everyone’s spine. Though his eyes were narrowed, the cold glint within them made everyone realize they were facing a beast—a beast revealing its bloodthirsty fangs.

Before they could recover from their shock, the dark-haired man tightened his grip suddenly, and a crisp crack was heard. The thug’s head twisted to the side in a grotesque arc. A glaring white bone fragment protruded from his neck—he had been strangled to death.

“God!! He’s a demon!!”

“Don’t… don’t kill me…”

“Everyone, run! Help!! Mom!!”

Screeching screams filled the air as all the thugs lost control of themselves and started screaming in terror. They rushed out of the bar in a panic, stumbling around—no trace left of their earlier arrogance. In just a moment, the bar was completely empty, with no one else visible except those at the dark-haired man’s table.

“What a nice feeling… don’t you think?”

The dark-haired man turned to face the equally terrified girl, Sulei, and the frowning assassin, Bloodpupil… and smiled.
