Chapter 35: A Race of Individuals, Section 1
To everyone’s surprise, those “angels” merely glanced at Li Feng once before turning and vanishing swiftly into the universe. From start to finish, they showed no hostility toward him, nor did they attempt to negotiate—as if Li Feng’s existence was nothing more than a speck of dust. What was even stranger was their calm retreat; none of them glanced back at the battlefield, as if everything that had happened was just a dream.
“Smart guys indeed,” Black Hair said with a faint smile, turning to walk back to his seat.
“Yes, they’re good at assessing the strength of both sides and acting accordingly. The attackers fall one after another, while the retreaters remain composed. These creatures know how to make choices. It’s just that they’re a bit too cold-blooded. They must have lost many companions just now—how can they still seem fine?” Monkey rubbed his nose and laughed casually.
“That’s the difference between races. Perhaps for them, death isn’t something to mourn? Didn’t you hear that last song? It was filled with a sense of peace. I don’t know what it meant, but I really liked it,” Blood Pupils added, eyes fixed on the screen. There, the chaotic spatial lines were rapidly returning to their original stable state.
The great battle had just ended, yet Li Feng hadn’t suffered the slightest harm. Aside from being slightly affected by the shockwaves at first, not a single hair on the entire ship was damaged. But none of Black Hair’s subordinates remained. Thinking about how they had been surrounded an hour ago and now were floating alone in the universe, the contrast was truly astonishing. Yet, no one felt pity.
After all, they were all part of the Moore race—what did it matter if they died? Black Hair was already worried about not having enough resources to waste. Having help would be more than welcome…
But his own mission…
“Boss, what do we do now? Shouldn’t we go back?” Monkey was the first to speak up in the cabin. With his words, everyone’s attention turned to Black Hair. They saw their leader… well, he had just opened a bottle of red wine.
“Go back? What a joke?” Black Hair ignored everyone’s gazes, filling his own glass to the brim before taking a gentle sip.
“I’ve already left behind their biological signatures. As long as they haven’t entered anti-space, Li Feng should be able to track them. So, let’s go take a look…”
“Great!!” The monkey, who also loved chaos, became excited at these words and immediately forgot about the danger, jumping up right away. Without hesitation, he urged the octopus crew to set sail at once.
In the silent universe, the dark hull of the Wind of Fury began to move slightly, its scales rippling like waves. Its color gradually turned grayish-white. Once the movement stopped, the entire ship expanded by more than twice its original size, its shape completely transformed—resembling a whale from the deep sea. On its grayish-white hull, a prominent inverted triangle was clearly visible.
This was the advantage of using Wandering Cells. Thanks to the relationship between Blackhair and the nucleus, these cells were completely under his control. He could shape the Wind of Fury into whatever form he desired. Though not very useful in actual combat, they were perfect for disguise.
Watching the Wind of Fury’s appearance change, Blackhair felt immensely satisfied. Such a drastic transformation—surely those birdmen wouldn’t recognize it at all! With a smirk, he issued an order to track them. The main screen displayed a scan of the nearby starfield, showing a cluster of tiny dots moving slowly. Their direction was exactly where the birdmen had gone.
Immediately afterward, the massive Wind of Fury made a smooth turn in space, silently following the dots like a fish.
Tracking wasn’t exactly a simple task—neither too difficult nor too easy. If the Wind of Fury weren’t Blackhair’s ace in the hole, keeping up with these creatures would have been challenging. In just three hours, Blackhair’s group had come to realize how formidable they were.
Their vigilance was extremely high; they would stop periodically to scout behind them. Their scouting method involved a mental wave frequency similar to scanning, highly sensitive and sudden. Several times, they came close to the Wind of Fury’s hull. Fortunately, Blackhair was prepared and managed to evade them unscathed.
They continued this back-and-forth until Monkey and the others’ patience was nearly exhausted. Suddenly, the dots on the screen disappeared.
“Great!” Monkey shouted triumphantly, his face filled with joy. He knew they had finally found the right place. He quickly turned to the octopus crew in charge of scanning and ordered, “Scan the area where they disappeared. See what’s there!”
“Yes!” The octopus crew members didn’t hesitate either. Their eight tentacles tapped rapidly. An image of the universe immediately appeared on Li Feng’s main screen—a vast expanse of stars, shimmering like a sea, picturesque in its beauty. Yet it was completely empty. According to the coordinates where those creatures had disappeared, not only were there no planets, not even any scattered fragments of celestial bodies could be seen.
“As expected, these guys have their tricks. Boss, shall we go now?” Monkey sneered coldly but wasn’t in a hurry. He and Hei Fa had long worked well together on Earth. Though this situation was strange, it didn’t arouse his suspicion. In fact, he didn’t even feel the slightest curiosity.
It was just a starry sky with nothing in it. Even in Earth’s technological world, disguising an area was extremely simple. A little holographic technology could make hundreds of kilometers of area vanish without a trace. Of course, this starfield was larger, but that was just a matter of energy consumption.
But this time, Hei Fa was much more cautious. After thinking for a while, he still shook his head.
“Wait a bit longer. Don’t go now. Since these creatures are so vigilant, I feel it can’t be that simple.”
“Okay, then let’s wait another half hour.” Monkey had no objections either. He went to his seat and lay down lazily.
Time passed slowly, and half an hour flew by in an instant. That area remained completely calm. Dozens of octopus crew members on duty didn’t dare breathe, their small eyes fixed intently on that spot—truly dedicated to their duty. In the silent cabin, Monkey jumped up, stretched his body, and grinned. “Is it almost time, boss? Shall we go now?”
“Alright.” Seeing no abnormalities, Hei Fa had no choice but to agree with Monkey’s suggestion. But before he could give the order, visible ripples suddenly appeared in that area, like ripples on a lake’s surface, twisting violently. The empty starry sky seemed to be swiftly peeled away like a canvas. Soon, a dense cluster of light points reappeared on the screen.
“Damn it! Stop moving and stay hidden. These guys are indeed extremely suspicious!” Hei Fa cursed under his breath, his expression darkening. He was also secretly alarmed.
What a cunning bunch of creatures. They even left traps here. If they had gone straight in as Monkey suggested, they would likely already be trapped. The universe is truly full of wonders. Fortunately, he was prepared and didn’t fall for it.
A slight smile curled at the corners of his mouth, and Black Hair suddenly revealed a sinister grin. How similar this scene was to when he fought against elite forces from various countries back then! Beneath the apparent calm lay layers of deadly intent. This was what made it most interesting and thrilling.
Just like Black Hair, Monkey and Blood Pup were initially stunned by this change, but soon became overjoyed.
“Ha, Head, as you said—these guys still have a backup plan. This is interesting. Then let’s have some fun with them. I doubt we can’t find their home.”
“Exactly,” Blood Pup nodded firmly, his face twisting into a ferocious expression. His fingers interlocked, emitting a cracking sound.
To be honest, they weren’t very far from their opponents now—only a few thousand kilometers apart. So everything about them was clearly visible on Li Feng’s monitor. The ‘angels’ that reappeared paused for a moment, seemingly confirming that the surroundings were normal, before all of them changed direction and flew deeper downward. At the same time, several larger ‘angels’ accelerated sharply and moved to the front of the group. They linked their wrists together, forming a strange pattern with their bodies.
A familiar song sounded, and those angels glowed brightly. Just as Black Hair had seen before, their bodies exploded violently. Flying flesh and energy waves converged into a small dot. Then, a halo expanded rapidly from that dot as the center.
It was teleportation!!
Black Hair and the others immediately understood what the opponents were doing. Clearly, they were a peculiar race that could not only survive physically in space but also enter anti-space directly. That act of self-destruction was likely their way of using energy.
Though it seemed complicated, it actually happened in an instant. Black Hair made a decision right away. “Keep the disguise up. Follow them as soon as they enter anti-space. I’ll be in charge of tracking inside anti-space.”
“Understood!” Monkey and Blood Pup didn’t waste words. They both knew this was probably the only option. After all, in the entire Li Feng, only Black Hair could remain conscious inside anti-space. Even if others wanted to help, it was impossible.
With the holographic system operating at full capacity, Li Feng appeared like a huge, intangible ghost, silently approaching behind those ‘angels’…
