Chapter 28: A Bloodshed Triggered by a Stone – Section 10
Blood Pup reached a conclusion. Unfortunately, however, few could understand his words…
Except Black Hair.
“Long, long ago… perhaps, it’s just a story.” Black Hair leaned back quietly in his seat, gently rubbing his chin. “We are currently in a war.”
“A war that is extremely cruel yet on a grand scale. This war can involve several star systems,” Blood Pup added in agreement, pointing outside the window.
“Right now.”
Everyone followed his finger’s gaze and saw that in such a short time, the battles outside had become even more intense. Those huge and mighty Rock Warriors no longer appeared in small groups but in overwhelming numbers. From the ruins of buildings, dark alleys, and beneath the nearby towers, countless massive figures rushed out screaming. Their enormous bodies were like small mountains, and their heavy footsteps shook the ground. The stone axes they wielded seemed capable of splitting the earth itself. Their fierce fighting spirit would even make the bravest gladiators feel ashamed.
In the eyes of the Blood Wolf Pirates, these valiant Rock Warriors roared as they appeared from all directions, rushing unhesitatingly toward the slowly descending warships. Each of their faces was hidden by thick stone helmets, but their violent roars made their anger palpable to anyone who heard them. In front of them, the Blood Wolf Pirates felt as if they were… afraid?
Afraid of such courage, such fearless bravery?
But there was no doubt—this was an unfair battle!!
No matter how brave these Rock Warriors were, no matter how strong their power, even if they could truly split the earth, their enemies were beyond human reach. It was a fleet—a massive fleet similar to that of the Moors, big enough to destroy entire star systems!!
In the sight of the Blood Wolf Pirates, more and more of those giant warships appeared in the sky. It was like a disaster movie. These warships quickly numbered in the hundreds. The blue energy fire unique to the Moor giants was like divine thunder. With each flash, a huge crater appeared on the ground. Anything touched by the fire vaporized instantly. Even the bravest Rock Warriors had no chance at all.
In Black Hair’s eyes, this scene was less a war and more a massacre!!
A massacre of a primitive civilization by an advanced one!! A cruel, utterly inhumane slaughter!! It’s clear that the giant ships in the sky aren’t there to conquer, but to destroy—completely destroy!! Their blue cannons ignore warriors and civilians alike. Hei Ba saw with his own eyes how a cannon blast from one of the warships instantly vaporized a group of houses, filled with hundreds of crying Rock Children and wailing Rock Women.
Any man with a bit of courage wouldn’t stand by and do nothing. Even though it was a war unrelated to them, the fierce spirit in the pirates’ blood made every Blood Wolf Pirate’s eyes turn red.
They were no longer afraid. Nor did they care about the causes of this war. For these men who roamed the stars and ruled through violence, justice and evil were mere jokes—they cared nothing about them. But as men, there was one thing they couldn’t stand: the cries of the weak…
“Attack, Captain,” said one pirate. His pale face had not yet faded but now turned red. If anyone noticed, they would see his fingers had turned white from gripping tightly.
“Attack, Captain!” More pirates stood up. Perhaps they had been afraid of this evil force earlier, but now, there was only anger.
In an instant, the atmosphere in the landing ship’s cabin became tense. Everyone’s face turned red with excitement at the prospect of battle. Their bloodshot eyes resembled those of a wolf pack… yes, the Blood Wolf Pirates, eager to fight, looked like a pack of wolves.
Blood Wolves.
Facing such bloody eyes, Hei Ba smiled—a helpless, pale smile, just like the bitter smile on his companion, Blood Eyes. He spread his palms.
“I… can’t give that order.”
“Why!! Captain! Are you going to stand by and watch those warships destroy everything here? Destroy this splendid civilization, melt all the buildings, kill all the women and children!? Why! Captain!! We don’t have to help them, but we can’t do nothing!!” The Blood Wolf Pirates grew desperate. They had followed Hei Ba for so long and had never seen him like this—filled with powerlessness. And in their minds, such weakness should never, under any circumstances, appear in their leader!
But His next words left them all stunned.
“Because we are just spectators. This war isn’t happening right now. What you see are merely recorded images.”
“What… what?” The Blood Wolf Pirates were stunned, staring blankly at the fierce and brutal battle before them, at the Rock Warriors passing by their landing ship, and at the giant warships spewing blue light in the sky. None of them could speak.
Black Hair was right. This was indeed just an image, similar to movies on Earth in the past. They could only watch, unable to change anything.
No one knew what exactly was in this dead city, but the scenes of this war that had taken place ages ago were preserved intact. As a result, anyone who entered the dead city was forced to witness this scene, to see the city’s final glory. Black Hair and his group were just lucky enough to be there at that moment.
But contrary to what all the pirates had guessed, there were no ghosts at all. This place wasn’t a realm of the supernatural. It was all just an image. And the Blood Wolf Pirates, who happened to be there, were merely a group of spectators—people who could only watch and do nothing to change anything.
In just a short while, the situation outside changed again. More and more giant warships appeared in the sky, while the number of Rock Warriors on the ground rapidly decreased. This slaughter didn’t last long. Perhaps realizing the unacceptable losses, strange horn sounds soon echoed through the dead city. Hearing this sound, all the bravely charging Rock Warriors immediately turned around and rushed toward the tall tower in the city. The tremors caused by countless giant figures stepping on the ground made even the landing ships shake.
“What are they doing?” one of the Blood Wolf Pirates asked in confusion upon seeing this.
“I don’t know,” Black Eye replied coldly, his gaze never leaving the battlefield outside.
This was a battle that had taken place ages ago—a massive, cruel, and real massacre. Perhaps this battle was the reason why this city became a dead city. Black Eye didn’t want to miss a single moment of it.
Under everyone’s gaze, the Rock Warriors quickly gathered around the tall tower. Perhaps due to their large numbers, their formation was extremely dense. In the eyes of the Blood Wolf Pirates, such behavior was nothing short of seeking death—after all, the denser the formation, the easier it was to become a target for the battleships’ artillery. And those giant ships in the sky clearly had complex relationships with the Moors. Their blue-energy weapons were downright deadly!
Yet what happened next left all the pirates stunned.
The giant ships in the sky indeed noticed the strange behavior of the Rock Warriors and, as the pirates had expected, unleashed a barrage of artillery fire. But when the blue light, thick enough to cover the sky, reached the Rock Warriors, the strange tall tower suddenly emitted a blinding white light. The light was so intense that it was impossible to look at. All the pirates instinctively closed their eyes. When they opened them again, they found a massive defensive layer surrounding the tower, stretching for hundreds of kilometers.
Clearly, this was the Rockclan’s last line of defense—and it was extremely effective. The blue artillery fire from the giant ships melted away like ice in front of it. After the onslaught of fire, not a single scratch appeared. Not only were the Rock Warriors unharmed, but not even a speck of dust rose from the ground beneath their feet.
Such defensive capabilities were something even Death Star’s most powerful fortress, Thor, could never achieve!!
“It’s amazing…” The pirates exclaimed in awe, their faces filled with delight.
They had already felt sympathy for these Rock Warriors, resentful at being unable to help them face the onslaught of the giant ships in the sky. Now, with such a sudden turn of events, how could they not be overjoyed? Instantly, the atmosphere on the landing ship became lively, far from its previous dull state.
But what they didn’t expect was that the Rockclan’s abilities went far beyond this.
Perhaps to the current Black-haired ones, their civilization seemed primitive. But primitiveness didn’t mean they were powerless or weak. The Rock Warriors still had their ace up their sleeve!
A stone!
A stone the size of a basketball, yet extremely bright!
The stone was embedded right in the middle of that tall tower. At first, the pirates thought it was just a decoration or some religious object. But when the defensive layer appeared, the stone suddenly came to life. It struggled to break free from its original position, then slowly rose under the gaze of all the pirates, eventually reaching the top of the tower.
Then, there was a blinding white light that couldn’t be seen directly, yet seemed to illuminate everything…
