Chapter 24: The Howl of the Blood Wolves, Section 2

Indeed, it was a fleet of mechs.
From the moment the attack began, Black Hair could no longer hold back his anger. Like Blood Pupils beside him, he hated this despicable noble to the core. Yet as a leader, he had to remain calm—a test that pushed his nerves to the limit. Holding on this long was already near the edge of his endurance.
So, the moment the warship opened fire, he refused to wait any longer. Without hesitation, he ordered the entire force to breach the atmosphere.
Mech assault!
He had used this tactic last time in the Black Prison. Now, he was doing it again. But this time, his troops were no longer as weak as before—there were a full thousand mechs, including over 300 powerful elite commander mechs!! Such a ratio was beyond even the supposedly invincible elite fleets of the universe!!
Over 300 commander mechs—what a terrifying number. If one commander mech equaled ten ordinary mechs, just these elite mechs alone would equal a force of 3,000 mechs. In reality, their combat power far exceeded that.
Of course, in terms of sheer scale, 300 commander mechs couldn’t compare to a force of 3,000 mechs. That’s why, to the guards below, they appeared as mere small black dots rather than a dark cloud.
But soon, those dots gradually grew larger, revealing the exaggerated designs of the Blood Wolf mechs to everyone.
“Oh, heavens. What is that!? Am I mistaken?” Gasps filled the air as everyone was stunned.
By now, they surely recognized who their opponents were. It was just that the equipment on those mechs was utterly absurd. Despite having normal proportions, they carried giant cannons far larger than their bodies—thick barrels with diameters of nearly a meter each. From afar, they looked like giant rollers descending from the sky. Among them, the especially large mechs were even more extreme; though they didn’t carry terrifying unconventional weapons, they were weapons in themselves, with firepower spread across their bodies, massive missile launchers, super-heavy sniper guns longer than ship cannons, and three-meter-long great swords. All of these demonstrated their terrifying combat power. Compared to these mechs, the capital planet’s guard mechs seemed like toys!!

“Don’t… don’t joke around…” A deep groan was heard. The guards beside Marquis Vincent were filled with despair. Though they were not nobles, they had all received formal military training. Even just by observing from a distance, they could easily assess the power of those weapons, though they didn’t know their types. This didn’t stop them from making a rough comparison in their minds. The conclusion was simple—and utterly disheartening. With their current equipment, they had no chance of fighting against this forcibly intruding mech fleet. And this was even without considering the skill levels of the enemy technicians. If those technicians were any more skilled, they couldn’t imagine what the consequences would be! Unfortunately, fate often loved to play tricks on people. Just as the guards hoped the enemy technicians were not skilled enough, two of their own frigates suddenly appeared before their eyes. These two frigates clearly had just finished preparing and were ascending. Perhaps they saw these mech fleets and, out of a desire to protect their masters, abandoned their plans to enter outer space. They braved the intense fire from the incoming fleet and rushed toward the black-haired mechs, accelerating as they opened the launch bays of their warships, seemingly ready to deploy their own guardian mechs to engage the enemy. At that moment, the guards suddenly noticed two mechs of significantly larger size appearing among the descending mech fleet. One held a giant scythe, while the other carried two massive multi-barreled heavy machine guns in each hand. The mech with the scythe accelerated and flew above one of the frigates, raising its scythe high before swinging down with force. “Boom!!” A tremendous sound erupted. The guards clearly felt the intense vibration in the air. Under everyone’s eyes, the giant scythe severed the frigate’s bridge in two. Then, with another swift swing, more swings followed—shards flew everywhere, and a deep crack appeared in the middle of the frigate. Before the guards below could react, a deafening explosion rang out like thunder. A sphere of light, resembling the sun, suddenly appeared in the sky. At both ends of the light sphere, the frigate’s bow and stern slowly separated and fell in opposite directions… That mech had actually cut a frigate in half!!!!??

The escorts exchanged glances, all seeing the incredible look in each other’s eyes. But before they could fully comprehend what was happening, another loud explosion erupted in the air. Everyone hurriedly turned around and saw the mech armed with two heavy machine guns just leaving beside another escort ship. As it moved away, that escort ship exploded violently. Shards of armor fell like rain, while the rear engine emitted a bright white light. The ship staggered, desperately trying to regain balance but failing. Eventually, it crashed in another direction, trailing thick black smoke.

In the sky, those two mechs hovered there like two giant demons, their crimson eyes fixed intently on the escorts below. One could even perceive mockery in their gaze.

Fear spread like a plague among every escort who had witnessed the battle.

It was too terrifying, too overwhelming… Those were two escort ships, yet they were destroyed in just one encounter by those two giant mechs. Although not many people noticed how the second escort ship was destroyed, even just this one incident was enough to shock everyone. That massive scythe seemed truly capable of deciding life and death, capturing everyone’s attention. Without exception, fear shone in every pair of eyes.

But they also knew well that no matter how powerful those two mechs were, they were still enemies! And the most terrifying enemies at that!

At this thought, almost everyone’s gaze turned toward Marquis Vincent. To their astonishment, this once glorious and arrogant marquis now appeared like a fool, staring blankly at the endless streams of high-temperature plasma in the sky, muttering to himself.

“Why… why…”

To destroy someone, one must first drive them mad. Kurokami knew this well. Everything he did was to make this marquis pay the price. Only, the extent of that price was in Kurokami’s control.

Unlike human values in this world, if the marquis had merely invaded his territory, Kurokami might not have gone to such extremes—perhaps just seizing resources of sufficient value would have been enough. But when it came to his companions, it was a line Kurokami would never cross. Especially when that companion was Yuri?

So this act of revenge was simply the craziest since Black Hair arrived in this world. Its madness even overwhelmed reason. Almost everyone, except for the most basic commoners, was involved. Now, the entire Capital Star had become a vast hunting ground for the Blood Wolf forces.

Seeing Marquis Vincent’s idiotic expression, anyone knew he couldn’t be relied on. And given Black Hair’s group’s aggressive assault, even the guards worried about their own fate. So the remaining people exchanged glances and scattered quickly. The entire courtyard was left with only Marquis Vincent alone, isolated like a stone statue.

However, compared to these scattered bodyguards, the Capital Star’s guard fleet was extremely loyal. Even after the terrifying attacks by the undead, this massive fleet still retained sufficient combat capability. Countless warships rose from the ground, charging upward against the artillery fire descending from above—a breathtaking sight. For a moment, the entire sky was filled with these huge warships. The Blood Wolf fleet’s fierce artillery struck their hulls, sending out countless massive fireballs. From time to time, some warships were shot down mid-air, crashing down with black smoke, but the rest continued to charge forward without hesitation.

On the other hand, Black Hair’s group also landed on the surface and engaged the Capital Star’s ground forces, who had rushed to encircle them. The battle here was just as intense as those in the sky. The marquis’s private ground forces were all equipped with high-performance mechs. Though not as strong as Black Hair’s group, they were still very formidable. They had set up numerous traps on the ground, with countless gun muzzles firing deadly flames from all directions. Almost the moment Black Hair and his men landed, they launched the most fierce attack.

Unfortunately, however, their attacks might have worked against ordinary pirates, but against Black Hair’s men, they were utterly trivial. Not to mention the absolute advantage in equipment, even the experience and skills of their technicians were on a completely different level.

After all, the glory of the Blood Wolf forces was earned through hard battles… Each pirate had fought more battles than all these ground forces combined. How could they possibly be slowed down by such messy attacks?

So after the overwhelming firepower barrage, the Capital Star side was shocked to find that the enemy hadn’t suffered even a scratch. Where they had landed, there now stood a massive defensive layer made up of countless giant shields, resembling a fortress.

“Whoa!” The shield defense layer dissipated. Two enormous shadows immediately appeared in everyone’s eyes—those terrifying giant figures that had just destroyed two frigates in midair, like demons. Sweat dripped from their foreheads… People suddenly realized that the air seemed to have frozen…
