Chapter 17: White Terror, Section 4
There was no roar, nor any cries of despair. Not even a chance to react was given.
In just an instant, the magnificent light mass in the sky, which had expanded to tens of thousands of kilometers, suddenly trembled, followed by a light column hundreds of meters wide shooting down violently. Its speed was so great that it seemed to have always been there from the very beginning.
The target of this light column was precisely where the elven princess stood on the platform.
“Hss…”
With a dull thud, right under everyone’s eyes, live on countless planets, and in front of nearly all human audiences, the platform vanished!
Everything—buildings, singers, nearby spectators, even the surrounding water droplets and the beautiful rainbows in the sky—turned into glowing dots in an instant under the light column. Those dots spread out like explosions, as splendid as fireworks.
They were fireworks of death… Staring foolishly at the scene on the vision crystal, no one could react. Perhaps in their minds, this was merely another arrangement by the concert organizers. One person was an exception. When he saw the light column instantly destroying everything, he didn’t show shock or fear, but rather excitement, as if seeing an old friend after a long time…
That person, of course, was Black Hair.
“A concentrated death beam… It’s actually a concentrated death beam… Heh, I never thought I’d see something like this in this universe.”
Muttering to himself, Black Hair stared intently at the magnificent light mass in the vision crystal, lost in thought, ignoring even Blood Pupil’s frantic shouts nearby.
Others might not understand the power of this weapon or be dazzled by its brilliant light, but Black Hair knew exactly what it represented.
Simply put, a death beam was one of the earliest concentrated weapons that appeared on Earth— a type of laser. It just had greater energy, more power, and a longer effective range. But adding the word “concentrated” in front of it changed its meaning completely.
As is well known, light can spread. Even a laser, which is said to be highly focused, will eventually spread out and dissipate over distance. But the Energy Condensing Death Beam is different. Once fired, this weapon, enhanced by special technology, will remain compact just as it was when fired, unless its energy is depleted—even after countless years. This characteristic gives it an advantage in long-range combat that no other weapon can match.
In other words, as long as your aim is precise, even over distances of several light-years, the impact will be no different from hitting something right in front of you. It is a true weapon that ignores the effects of distance.
Although its power isn’t extremely great and it requires an astronomical amount of energy, its properties make it one of the most valuable long-range weapons humanity has ever developed. Besides its high precision, it also has something that frightens every warrior: speed.
The Energy Condensing Death Beam is a weapon that truly moves at the speed of light. With human reaction times, it’s absolutely impossible to dodge!!
Such a weapon was strictly prohibited even on Earth in the past. Only a few major nations had managed to create prototypes, and they hadn’t even been put into practical use. Moreover, these prototypes were enormous in size, requiring an astronomical amount of energy—so much that even ordinary mechs or spaceships, let alone actual warships, couldn’t carry them. Only specially modified giant ocean-going freighters could possibly transport them.
Hei Fa had seen this weapon before, as he had personally planned a robbery targeting its blueprints. But to be honest, this was the first time he had witnessed its actual combat effect.
Yet that brilliant white light was unmistakable. A light beam covering tens of thousands of kilometers emitted only an attack beam hundreds of meters in diameter—nothing other than the Energy Condensing Death Beam could do such a thing!!
“Xue Tong, go call Baroka and gather people—we’re leaving right now!” Hei Fa shouted his orders almost at the top of his voice.
At this moment, he really couldn’t stay put. Nothing could be seen through the vision crystals, so he had to go to Rainbow Star in person to find out what was going on. And most importantly, Sulei and Lily were still on that planet!!
It has nothing to do with his black hair if others die out completely, but whoever dares to touch a single hair of his companions will face consequences!! Fury swept through his entire body instantly, and his black hair felt hot all at once. Having gone through the nightmare of his companions dying one by one, he now resembled an enraged lion!
An enraged lion!!
Boom!!!!
It seemed as though even the earth was enraged—Silver Star Port experienced unprecedented tremors. The massive supports shook violently, making everyone think an earthquake had struck.
But they never imagined it was merely the result of the work of thirteen warships. Perhaps due to his urgency, after rushing onto the warships, Black Hair ignored the airport’s safety procedures for a slow departure and instead ordered all warships to activate all their engines and head out at full speed. This caused the wake from the warships to hit the airport buildings, resulting in the earthquake-like effects.
But no one dared to object. Even the once-powerful Silver Star government guards retreated in shame the moment they saw the neat Blood Wolf insignia on Black Hair’s fleet.
Come on, that’s the Blood Wolf faction! The paid guards aren’t fools. Everyone knew that after the Silver Star auction, the Blood Wolf faction had become the true rulers here. Even the interstellar fleet had no say in this territory!!
Yet Black Hair, who was in the midst of the fierce winds, felt no sense of triumph.
Anxiety and fury burned him up, almost making him unable to control himself.
In front of him, a huge vision crystal sat neatly. Inside, there were still countless swirling white dots and that shattered rainbow!!
“Give me some time, just a little more time! Damn it, give me some time!! Damn heavens, give me more time!!!”
Muttering as if reciting a curse, Black Hair paced anxiously in the cabin, his eyes never leaving the vision crystal. He knew that soon, the enemy who fired the concentrated death beam, the culprit of this disaster, would appear before him.
Sure enough, in less than five minutes, through the vision crystal, Black Hair could see two small black dots gradually appearing at the core of the white light explosion in the distant starry sky of Rainbow Star.
As the view zoomed in, the black dots revealed their true form.
“How… could this be…” Black Hair slumped heavily into his seat, unable to believe what he was seeing.
Black Hair actually found black dots nothing unusual—just two white spaceships. Yet they were incredibly massive; even by eye, it was clear each one was at least hundreds of kilometers long. Their surfaces were completely smooth, without any protrusions, and their streamlined design made them look as cute as droplets of water. But none of this truly moved Black Hair. What surprised him was the prominent symbol right at the front of those two spaceships!
It was a curved tooth covered in blood!!
“It’s Venom Tooth… Heh… It’s actually Venom Tooth!” As if all his strength had been drained, Black Hair slumped in his chair, muttering to himself.
Some might ask, what is Venom Tooth?
It’s quite simple. That symbol represents just one fleet—a very small one, consisting of only three warships. Yet it once had a leader. That leader’s name was…
Black Hair.
Yes, Venom Tooth was the fleet Black Hair personally assembled on Earth, the very force that made countless nations tremble with fear! Though it initially consisted of only three warships, wherever it passed, vast areas turned barren and desolate. It was Black Hair’s ultimate weapon, an absolute killer!
But why? Why, after traversing so much time and space, could its shadow still be seen in this strange galaxy? And under such circumstances?
Black Hair didn’t know, and no one else did either. But all the warships of the Blood Wolf faction received the most direct and urgent orders:
Abandon all defenses, reconnaissance, and fire preparations. Activate the backup engine cores and perform an emergency jump.
Black Hair couldn’t wait any longer. If before he had been filled with anger and anxiety due to his comrades’ crisis, now he truly felt fear.
It was as if some invisible hands of fate were manipulating him like a pawn. This feeling gripped his soul, causing him to lose his sanity for the first time. In the cabin of Li Feng, he was like an enraged lion; wherever his gaze fell, not to mention ordinary crew members, even Baroque and Blood Pupil feared him like a serpent.
“Boom!!”
The engine’s exhaust burst forth instantly, and under the intense light, all the warships vanished from sight in an instant. Perhaps in a day, they could reach Rainbow Star.
But who knew what awaited them?
No one knows! But at the same time, the planet Mason in the 31st Star Region seemed to sense something. Its massive body suddenly began to change, with all valves closing tightly and its surface armor plates rising. Amidst the panic of those inside, it suddenly left its original coordinates… and entered a transition into anti-space.
