Volume 4: The Revelation Revealed – Chapter 427: The Immortal Body

When the Phoenix saw the Peacock, its body trembled. This was what was meant by “blood ties binding hearts” – how could it possibly allow the Peacock and its son to fight each other?
The four Bodhisattvas first bowed to Bodhisattva Nili. Nili pointed at the Phoenix, and all four turned their gazes toward it, showing combat intent. The Phoenix clearly saw a hint of hesitation in the Peacock’s eyes, but it quickly turned into hostility as the Peacock attacked the Phoenix first.
The Phoenix dodged swiftly, heartbroken, and charged at the other three Bodhisattvas. Seeing the Phoenix in trouble, Hou Yi shot five arrows simultaneously at Bodhisattva Nili and the four other Bodhisattvas.
Bodhisattva Nili used the Peacock to keep the Phoenix occupied, confident he had an easy win, and then rushed at Hou Yi to avenge the arrow. Just as he was about to reach Hou Yi, a black-feathered arrow shot toward him. Bodhisattva Nili reacted quickly, dodging to the side. Yet for a fleeting moment, his body paused in midair—a tiny instant, but enough for Hou Yi.
It was a Law-Breaking Arrow!
It pierced straight through his chest!
But Bodhisattva Nili seemed unharmed. After that brief pause, he moved like a ghost to Hou Yi’s side, grabbed his right arm, and yanked it off.
Hou Yi let out a pained groan, his right knee bending as he leaned backward. Somehow, a bowstring appeared between his heel and the back of his neck. With a slight flick of his left toe, an invisible, glowing arrow emerged from that string. The arrow vanished in an instant, while Bodhisattva Nili’s throat suddenly glowed brightly before a loud explosion was heard.
Holding Hou Yi’s right arm, Bodhisattva Nili retreated far away, covering his throat with his right hand, unable to speak. After shooting that arrow, Hou Yi collapsed, his strength exhausted. That arrow had gathered all his magical power, fired with his body as the bow. Once it was shot, none of his magical energy remained, leaving him unable to stand in the air.
Ksitigarbha flew over, caught Hou Yi, and brought him to his realm. Raising his Staff of Good and Evil, he pursued Bodhisattva Nili. Bodhisattva Nili had never suffered such a heavy defeat in his life. Filled with anger and urgency, his throat was pierced, and he needed magical power to heal it immediately—only for Ksitigarbha to chase after him.
Bodhisattva Nili summoned over a dozen Buddhas to attack the group.
Seeing Hou Yi injured, Earth Goddess was heartbroken and shouted, “Come quickly!” She wanted to use her ultimate Earth Escape Technique to take everyone away, but they were too scattered, and she was powerless to do anything.

Upon hearing this, Zhu Rong naturally understood Hou Tu’s intentions. Though she understood them, she still wanted to call Wukong over, so she waved a chain of fire to push aside the surrounding Buddhas and flew toward Wukong. Unbeknownst to her, two Buddhas were closely pursuing her from behind. As Zhu Rong turned to fight back, one of the Buddhas engaged in a struggle with Wukong saw the opening behind Zhu Rong and silently approached with his demon-subduing staff.

Zhu Rong was focused on the battle when she suddenly suffered a heavy blow from behind, spewing blood. Her body swayed, but she still created a ring of intense fire to keep the Buddhas at bay.

The Phoenix fought against the four Bodhisattvas for a long time. Since the Peacock was among them, the Phoenix was cautious, but the Peacock matched her moves perfectly, leaving the Phoenix struggling to cope.

Seeing Hou Yi severely injured and Zhu Rong ambushed by the Buddhas, the Phoenix became alert. If things continued like this, the entire army might be destroyed today. She raised her head and let out a clear cry, emitting a rainbow glow from her entire body. Purple-blue flames ignited on her wings as she flew straight toward Zhu Rong.

The two Bodhisattvas in front tried to block the Phoenix’s advance. The Phoenix folded her wings, flew close to them, and then suddenly spread them wide, unleashing a sea of fire that engulfed the two, trapping them beneath it. Somehow, the flames were extraordinary—the two Bodhisattvas screamed in agony as the flames on their bodies wouldn’t go out no matter what.

In an instant, the Phoenix reached Zhu Rong. Seeing the miserable state of the two Bodhisattvas, the three Buddhas dared not stop her and stepped aside. The Phoenix wrapped herself in her wings and flew toward Wukong.

Wukong no longer had the strength to fight back and mostly relied on dodging. Since he began his training, he had never faced such fierce opponents. These Buddhas were more vicious than the last and possessed extremely high cultivation levels, leaving Wukong in awe—there were so many experts even in the Buddhist underworld. According to Laojun, the three thousand Buddhas wouldn’t dare act rashly, so these people must be from outside the Stupa of Buddhism.

As he dodged, Wukong thought hard for a strategy. Seeing more and more reinforcements for his opponents, he grew disheartened. He didn’t know the details of Hou Yi’s injury and only saw Zhu Rong being ambushed; it was too late to warn her.

At that moment, the Phoenix rescued Zhu Rong and flew toward him. Wukong fought his way through to meet her. The Phoenix wrapped him in her wings, and together they formed a rainbow-colored fire column that flew horizontally toward Hou Tu.

By now, Ksitigarbha had also arrived and stood back-to-back with Hou Tu to defend against the enemy. The Phoenix broke through the battle formation, setting down Wukong and Zhu Rong. Hou Tu helped Zhu Rong up first and said, “Stop using your energy. If I take you both in, we can escape from here!”

But the Phoenix said, “You go first!”

Wukong urgently asked, “Why not go together?”

The Phoenix laughed and said, “My immortal body can only be used once in a lifetime. Do you understand?”
“Ah?” Wukong guessed the Phoenix’s intention and replied, “No!”
The Phoenix shook its head. “It’s too late. Leave quickly!”
The Phoenix charged into the enemy ranks, fighting with all its might in every move. The blue-purple flames struck its body, penetrating straight into its bones through its flesh—this was the Phoenix’s innate divine power: Nirvana!
Hou Tu shook her head and created a halo using her earthly power. Wukong, Ksitigarbha, and Diting had no choice but to leap into this halo. Hou Tu sighed and said, “Why must it come to this?”
By then, the Bodhisattva Nili had finished healing. Seeing the Phoenix use such a self-destructive fighting style, he frowned, muttered a spell under his breath. As the Phoenix continued fighting, it suddenly felt a sharp pain in its chest, and its life force began to fade rapidly. It knew that the Bodhisattva Nili had activated the array within its body. Back when the Tathagata secretly placed this array within it, he had said, “If you ever rebel, you won’t live even a moment!”
A moment? That was enough!
The Phoenix abandoned the Buddha in the middle and headed straight for the Bodhisattva Nili. Realizing the Phoenix was ready to sacrifice itself, the Bodhisattva Nili, who had suffered repeated injuries that day, felt a hint of fear. But if he retreated, he might never have another chance to capture the Spirit-Ape of Clarity.
He swiftly moved behind the Phoenix and rushed toward Wukong inside the earthly halo.
At that moment, another anomaly occurred. Before Nili could move even three feet, a flash of color appeared before him—it was the Phoenix! The Phoenix said in a deep voice, “This is my second son, Dapeng’s innate divine power—Sky Roc Transformation! You can’t outspeed me!”
Ignoring it, Nili tried to bypass the Phoenix again. The Phoenix flipped through the air, its colorful feathers and blue-purple flames shooting out, most of which hit Nili. Nili was so in pain that he almost fell. He had already taken off his clothes, and now his body was covered in Phoenix feathers, looking extremely grotesque. Moreover, the blue-purple flames were like steel needles, piercing deep into his body.
At this point, the Phoenix was completely bare, devoid of any noble aura, not even comparable to a common chicken. The Phoenix said, “This is my second son, the Peacock’s innate divine power—Peacock Feathers! You can’t dodge it!”
Enduring the pain, Nili shouted, “I will pierce you and your son to ashes!”
The Phoenix turned its body, seemingly transforming into a feathered arrow, and shot straight at the Bodhisattva Nili. Nili dared not block it anymore and quickly dodged to the side. But the Phoenix suddenly turned and arrived beside the Peacock. It tapped the Peacock a few times with its beak. The Peacock showed signs of fear but couldn’t move at all.

The phoenix picked up the peacock and in an instant was by Hou Tu’s side. It threw the peacock into the Extreme Earth Ring and said, “I leave this traitor to you.” Hou Tu nodded firmly and, with resolve, unleashed the power of Extreme Earth. A yellowish light halo suddenly brightened, after which he disappeared from the Buddhist hell. Seeing that everyone else had safely escaped, the phoenix no longer had any concerns. It shouted at Bodhisattva Ni Li, “Wicked Buddha! Today, we will fight to the death!” Ni Li barely managed to force out a few phoenix feathers from his body. Seeing that the phoenix would not back down, he ordered, “Kill it!” The Buddhas surrounded him, but all felt fear in their hearts—Bodhisattva Ni Li was an incomparable figure in their eyes, and they never expected him to be defeated by the phoenix. The fearless phoenix moved through the crowd, leaving trails of bloodlight wherever it went—some belonging to the Buddhas, some to itself. Seeing that the phoenix was at its limit, Ni Li ignored his own injuries and vowed to kill it with his own hands to vent his anger. When the phoenix saw Ni Li approaching, an unknown fire ignited within it, instantly turning its entire body red and transparent, as if carved from red glass. Ni Li retreated in shock. The phoenix then transformed into Tian Peng and blocked Ni Li’s path. Its voice when it spoke again was cold and strange: “Stop! You can’t defeat the whole world!” Ni Li gritted his teeth and said, “You don’t know when to quit!” The phoenix darted forward. Ni Li didn’t dare to confront it head-on; instead, he reached out and grabbed a Buddha to shield himself. But the phoenix, like a sharp blade, passed through that Buddha unimpeded, its momentum unchanged. Ni Li mustered all his strength, swung both fists simultaneously, and struck the phoenix’s head. The phoenix, once the ruler of all birds and unharmed after two cycles of time, had its neck broken and perished in the Buddhist hell. Seeing the phoenix’s body fall straight downward, Ni Li finally breathed a sigh of relief. This battle had been mutually destructive—many of his own Buddhas had died, and he too had suffered severe injuries, costing him much of his vital energy. What was worse, the peacock had been taken away by the people of Qi Tian Ling. Hmph! Ling Ming Shen Yuan, Hou Tu, Ksitigarbha… I won’t spare any of you. Ni Li looked down as the phoenix’s body grew smaller and smaller like a red dot. Curious about what kind of fire the phoenix had cultivated to possess such power, he descended straight to find its corpse. Even if he couldn’t uncover the mystery of that fire, at least he could absorb the phoenix’s vital energy.

Ni Li plummeted downward. Suddenly realizing something was wrong, the phoenix… flew upward again. He shouted urgently, “That’s bad!” But it was too late to stop the descent. The phoenix used another transformation spell—this time turning into a celestial roc. With its head hanging down, its wings could still flap, which was utterly bizarre.
At the moment they collided, there was a deafening explosion. The phoenix’s body burst apart with a loud “bang.” The force was immense, sending Ni Li flying thousands of miles away. It was unknown how many peaks he crashed into before finally stopping.
Fueled by anger, fury, and pain, Ni Li’s body tilted, and he lost consciousness.
Of this phoenix, not a trace could be found in this world anymore. Only faint, blood-red flames remained, burning fiercely in the Buddhist hellscapes, everywhere…
