Chapter 7: The Main Soul (Part 1)
Vast cracks appeared on the ground, with molten rock gushing out in huge amounts. Qi Wu Zhen reached out with her hands, and millions of runes poured down like a rainstorm. A low rumbling sound was heard, followed by intense tremors in the earth, and the nearby city also began to shake. Fortunately, most of the buildings in the city were made of metal, so such tremors were not enough to destroy them. Still, chaos ensued throughout the city.
In just a few dozen seconds, the molten rock formed a lake. Qi Wu Zhen’s figure swayed slightly as she reached the center of the lake. As soon as she appeared, the molten rock beneath her began to swirl slowly, quickly forming a vortex that grew faster and faster. Soon, the entire lake of molten rock started to expand rapidly.
Wang Dayang and the others had never seen Qi Wu Zhen use such astonishing skills before. Cécile was utterly impressed. Ku Mu exclaimed, “Interesting! A fire rune can be used to such an extent—what an amazing woman!” He truly admired her ability to bring a rune to its extreme, controlling all flames in the world. In the world of runes, she was the most extraordinary being.
Guo Shier and Li Ran both knew of Qi Wu Zhen’s strength, especially Guo Shier, who had witnessed her destroy a city before. Even then, she had already been beyond resistance, and now her power had reached its peak.
Such a massive disturbance made everyone in the city aware of her strength. The hidden elite members of the Secret Clan had no choice but to come out to stop her. There was also a elite unit of over a thousand people, dressed in the most advanced starfield armor with formidable combat capabilities. They were supposed to assist those elite members and were not meant to fight directly but to act as a guard force. Yet now, they too had to join the battle.
In fact, molten rock alone wasn’t very powerful, but the molten rock here was different. When it emerged from underground, Qi Wu Zhen infused it with a large number of runes, increasing its power by more than ten times. Metal buildings melted instantly upon contact, and any object touched by the molten rock began to burn fiercely. Thus, as soon as the molten rock reached the buildings on the city’s edge, it forced those elite members of the Secret Clan to appear, knowing full well that the molten rock would grow more violent over time.
Seeing those members of the Secret Clan flying over quickly, Li Ran laughed loudly and said, “Alright, we’ve forced them out. Follow me!” He vanished from his spot in an instant and reappeared beside the group, immediately launching an attack.
Withered Wood and Monier exchanged a glance, then both disappeared from their original spot, reappearing instantly on the other side of those Secret Clan experts. Wang Dayang chuckled and said, “I’ll go to the back!”
Guo Shier said, “Cerisheline, let’s face them head-on!” Moonblade had been reforged, and he wanted to see how effective it was, as well as test the attacking power of the Jienabana Pearl. After being reforged, its power was incredibly strong. Of course, this was what the old hero had bragged about; he hadn’t tried it himself yet.
Moonblade slashed wildly, its attacks as fierce as a storm, leaving the Secret Clan experts stunned. They never expected the opponent to attack without a word, killing five or six of them in an instant.
Now the Secret Clan experts were furious. Five or six of their men had died without even saying a word, with another dozen injured, either lightly or seriously. With only a hundred or so members in total, they were filled with rage and panic, launching a fierce counterattack.
But what terrified them even more was that those seven opponents seemed utterly inhuman. Before one wave of attacks ended, two more experts died. They were horrified. Perhaps they had been careless before, but this was a direct confrontation, and they immediately realized that all seven of them were super experts—none of them weak.
Li Ran also became fierce. Since things had reached a point where there could be no turning back, he would do everything possible to scare them to death. He charged headlong into the crowd.
Qi Wuzhen controlled streams of magma to attack those elite troops. Those over a thousand men, who had been firing wildly, suddenly found themselves faced with countless streams of fire formed from magma. Their Star Armor defense could easily block ordinary magma, and even if thrown into it, they could still move freely thanks to the armor’s protection. But this magma wasn’t ordinary—it was enhanced by runes, changing its nature significantly and increasing its power greatly.
When the magma streams hit them, the warriors realized in horror that the alarm systems inside their Star Armor were screaming frantically. Panicked, they tried to flee, but it was too late. In an instant, the armor on dozens of warriors caught fire, burning through the Star Armor in moments and turning the warriors inside to ashes.
The other warriors were stunned. The commander immediately ordered a retreat. Seriously, in a fight where death was certain, retreating was the only sensible choice.
A dozen or so warriors, with red eyes, flew high into the sky, attempting to attack Qi Wu Zhen. To their despair, dozens of streams of magma suddenly erupted from the magma lake, resembling living fire snakes, soaring straight upward at incredible speed. Even with their maximum speed activated, it was useless; they were knocked down one after another, falling into the magma lake and turning to ashes after a brief struggle.
Wang Dayang also rushed into the crowd, moving back and forth with Li Ran. Kuumu and Monier kept teleporting around the perimeter, killing any Secret Clan experts who dared to flee. Their fierce attacks left the Secret Clan experts confused and disoriented. It was only then that they realized they had provoked truly formidable top experts by allying with the Spirit Kingdom. With their abilities, they might have had a chance against one or two top experts, but they never expected these seven to be so powerful—far beyond the category of top experts, their strength was simply overwhelming.
Guo Shier launched just two waves of attacks, and the enemy was completely shattered. Out of a hundred or so people, over thirty were killed quickly, while the rest were severely injured. If they didn’t flee now, none of them would survive. So, after someone shouted, “Retreat!” all the Secret Clan experts fled outward.
Li Ran sneered, “You come when you want to, and leave when you want to? Stay here, you bastards!”
Qi Wu Zhen directed the streams of magma to chase after those warriors. All the buildings along the way turned into streams of fire. Within minutes, that elite force was almost completely destroyed—most burned to death, with only a few escaping.
The seven of them coordinated perfectly, but the group of Secret Clan experts was put together hastily; each had their own family, so all kinds of flaws came to light. Some even started framing each other to avoid attacks.
A few minutes later, the strongest few Secret Clan experts barely managed to escape, while the rest couldn’t flee at all—the gap in strength between the two sides was too vast.
By this point, both Li Ran and Guo Shier realized what was happening. They shouted at the same time, “Catch a few alive!”
It was too late. The last survivor had already been swallowed by Qi Wu Zhen’s streams of magma. Qi Wu Zhen said innocently, “You should have said earlier…” Everyone was speechless.
Guo Shier said, “It’s okay. Three… no, five… have escaped. I’ll go get them.”
Li Ran said, “It’s hard to find them. They’ve fled into the city. The area is too large. As long as they find a hidden place or mix in with the crowd…”
Guo Shier smiled and said, “I placed tracking runes on one person. What about the others… did you put any tracking runes on them?”
Li Ran replied, “No. We only thought about killing them. Hehe, we didn’t expect them to be so weak.”
Qi Wu Zhen said, “It’s not that they’re weak; it’s that our strength has grown too fast. If we had just emerged, these people could still have fought back against us. Even if they couldn’t defeat us, they wouldn’t have been wiped out so quickly.”
Ku Mu nodded and said, “That’s right. And this time, they… didn’t give their best. Hehe, it seems they’re not from the same group—they’re just a ragtag bunch put together temporarily. When I was chasing them, one of them was tricked by his companions.”
Everyone thought about the battle just now and immediately understood. Guo Shier smiled and said, “I don’t know which secret clan they belong to. But we’ve settled this score. These people must be skilled members of the secret clan. Although they’re inferior to Xingyunzi, their status might not be that much lower.”
Although Guo Shier only used the Moon Blade and didn’t use the Jiebaina Pearl to empower it, he knew that after refining the Moon Blade, his strength had increased several times over. Plus, since emerging from the passage, his strength had improved greatly compared to when he was performing the star sacrifice. If he encountered Xingyunzi again, he believed he could not only fight against him but also have a chance of winning.
Li Ran said, “There’s no need for magma. Burning down this city… we won’t get anything from it.”
Qi Wu Zhen nodded and said, “I know. I don’t need you to remind me. Otherwise, I would have created a lake of magma in the city’s center to destroy it outright.”
Guo Shier said, “That guy has already fled into a skyscraper. Let’s chase after him!”
Li Ran nodded and said, “Let’s go. We hope to find the high-ranking officials of the United Spirit Kingdom. Although I doubt it’s possible, we still need to try.”
Guo Shier said, “If we can find them, we might be able to negotiate. If not, then we’ll have a fight to settle this. Follow me!” With that, he flew toward the city.
Some simple fortresses on the ground immediately fired a barrage of bullets at them, actually trying to stop the flying vehicles. Wang Dayang slashed several times, turning those fortresses into piles of debris.
The seven of them rushed to the skies above the city. Li Ran asked, “Where is it?”
Guo Shier pointed at a metal skyscraper hundreds of meters tall and said, “It’s that skyscraper.”
Li Ran said, “Okay, we need to catch him alive—it’s much harder than killing him. One person should guard each side, and one more up there. Guo Shier, you and I will go catch him!”
Guo Shier nodded and said, “Good idea.” He turned to Seraphine and said, “Choose a direction. If that man comes at you, don’t fight head-on—just hold him off for a few seconds. The others will arrive right away.” Among them, Seraphine was the weakest. If she really encountered that man, she would likely have a hard time.
Seraphine nodded. “No problem. I should be able to hold my own.”
Li Ran and Guo Shier created a large hole in the building and rushed in. Guo Shier didn’t bother finding a path; he used his moon blade to cut a way forward and pursued the man.
That Secret Clan expert was standing in a room, gasping for breath. He was terrified—never expecting those seven people to be so strong. He deeply regretted taking on this task, his mind in chaos, not knowing what to do. Just then, the metal wall beside him suddenly shattered silently, and two people walked in from outside. His heart sank instantly—he knew he couldn’t escape.
