Chapter 7: The Void Worms (Part 2)
Guo Shier turned back and said, “There’s hardly any time left. I hope these Void Worms will stay at this ruin for a while—otherwise, it will be too troublesome.”
A few minutes later, a massive city appeared before Guo Shier. Yet the city was desolate, with broken walls and countless collapsed buildings. Cracks of various sizes crisscrossed the ground. Serceline glanced back. Based on past experience, they could stay in the city for at most an hour—assuming the swarm didn’t speed up. If it did, they wouldn’t even have an hour to search.
Even if they had an hour, they would have to set off in forty minutes, because after an hour, the swarm would be too close. Starting then would be too dangerous, and it would be even harder to escape them.
Guo Shier didn’t dare waste time. He said, “Follow me closely. Don’t stray, or I won’t be able to take care of you.”
Serceline nodded obediently. She knew full well that she couldn’t fly fast enough. Without Guo Shier leading the way, she couldn’t outrun the Void Worms. So here, she had to stick closely to Guo Shier—no mistakes allowed. Making a mistake here was almost certain death; no error could be tolerated.
Guo Shier didn’t care where Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen had gone. He rushed into the city in one go.
A loud explosion echoed not far away, followed by Li Ran’s loud laugh, “Haha… Daring to attack me! Die!”
Smoke billowed, and a flash of light instantly illuminated the entire city. Guo Shier pulled Serceline along and rushed over. To his surprise, there were people here. Serceline became excited. Though she was the weakest among Li Ran’s group, she was stronger than most experts. She said, “There are people?”
Several small spacecraft of the Mechanical Clan took off, firing streams of attack fire from their bows. The deafening roars echoed through the city.
Guo Shier shouted, “I’ll go first. Follow soon!” Then he vanished from sight in an instant.
Serceline drew her dual knives and flew toward the noise. She was a bit anxious, fearing she might get separated from Guo Shier. Glancing back at the distant dark dots, she knew they couldn’t reach them for now.
Guo Shier emerged from beside a spaceship, about ten meters away, with the Moon Blade appearing in his hand and transforming into a giant sword. Without hesitation, he swung down fiercely, slicing through the spaceship as if it were tofu—splitting it in two and causing it to crash to the ground. The crew inside screamed in terror. Guo Shier turned and rushed at another spaceship. By then, one of the ships had already spotted him and immediately turned around, firing countless streams of fire at him.
It was an energy weapon. Protected by the Umbrella Tower Sacrificial Treasure, Guo Shier didn’t dodge at all and swung again, instantly splitting another spaceship in two.
With a horizontal slash from the Moon Blade, the ship targeting him was also cut apart. A single horizontal strike severed the entire ship, decapitating anyone caught in the blade’s path. Immediately afterward, Guo Shier raised the Moon Blade and struck once more. Two diagonal slashes brought the ship crashing from the sky. In just a few moments, he had destroyed three ships. Though not large, each ship was over a hundred meters long, but Guo Shier treated them as nothing, showing no concern at all. He was well aware of his own strength—such ships posed no threat to him.
The remaining two ships fled frantically, their crew members in utter panic. Such a tiny figure, facing massive ships, showed no fear at all. What was even more disheartening was the sheer lethality of his weapons—just one slash could cut through an entire ship. With four slashes in total, he had destroyed three ships. His strength was overwhelming; none of them, nor their ships, could withstand it. So, under their captain’s orders, they tried to escape.
How could Guo Shier let them go? He had clearly heard Li Ran’s shout earlier. No matter what race they were, if they dared attack them, they would face their retaliation. The Moon Blade suddenly transformed into countless blade-like projections, surging forth like towering waves and instantly engulfing the two ships. A series of loud cracking sounds followed, and the two ships were reduced to scrap—no one survived. This was even more terrifying than slicing a ship with a single blow. With a single slash, there might still be survivors, but with such a barrage of Moon Blade attacks, it was almost impossible for anyone to live.
Guo Shier had eliminated all five ships. He then rushed toward the area filled with smoke and dust, where he saw hundreds of people surrounding Li Ran.
Guo Shier cut down five spaceships and had already attracted a group of people’s attention. These people clearly feared his strength, approaching him as if facing a formidable enemy. With sharp eyes, Guo Shier immediately noticed that several of them were holding strange objects. Recalling how he had nearly fallen victim to the illusion attacks of the royal forces earlier, he realized they had ulterior motives. These members of the Tianling clan were among the first to enter the ruins and had been there for some time, so they had made it their forbidden territory. Whenever outsiders entered, they would immediately attack.
Guo Shier had no intention of engaging them head-on and instead teleported away right away. He reappeared outside the group attacking Li Ran, and his Moon Blade emitted countless golden-red lights, instantly killing over a dozen of them. Li Ran suddenly regained his senses. Although he was a top-tier professional, he had been caught off guard and fallen victim to the illusion attack. The trouble with fighting the Tianling clan was precisely this—they could easily trap you in their schemes.
Li Ran’s anger flared. He too had been caught off guard by the illusion attack. Though he fought back immediately and killed a few, he himself became trapped in an illusion matrix and was unable to attack his enemies. With his strength, the enemy’s attacks couldn’t even shake him, but this situation made him feel humiliated. As he prepared to launch a powerful attack, Guo Shier suddenly intervened and successfully broke the enemy’s illusion matrix.
Once freed, those Tianling clan members were in trouble. Li Ran shouted, “Shier, go deal with that group—kill them all!” He spoke with fierce determination. Their ambush had enraged him, so he ordered a massacre.
Guo Shier wasted no time. He changed direction and rushed at a group not far away.
Blood flew everywhere. With both top-tier professionals unleashing their full strength, the Tianling clan couldn’t withstand them. Especially since the two moved swiftly, teleporting from place to place, staying in one spot for no more than a few seconds. Once they appeared, they would deliver a full-force strike before teleporting away again. This was a common attack tactic in the world of spells, but to the Tianling clan, it was terrifying. Someone immediately sent out an alarm.
Inside this ancient ruin city, there were thousands of Tianling clan members, along with various mechanical machines used for excavating the ruins. As soon as the alarm was sent, a large number of Tianling clan members poured out from the various ruins and surrounded the two. At that moment, Serichelin also launched an attack. Although her strength wasn’t as great as Guo Shier’s or Li Ran’s, she was still a skilled swordsman of the Blade Clan, and her power couldn’t be underestimated. She instantly killed a few people.
Immediately, others rushed over to attack Serichelin.
At that moment, Qi Wu Zhen began to show her power. She ran so fast that she was almost at the city center. Hearing the battles in the distance, she immediately reacted. With Qi Wu Zhen’s temper, it was best not to provoke her—otherwise, things would be completely ruined. No one could withstand her strength; not even Li Ran dared to anger her, and Guo Shier also had to address her as “Sister Zhen.”
Qi Wu Zhen was most skilled at setting fires. She loved playing with fire and was a master at controlling flames. Seeing the people of the Tianling tribe rushing over in panic, she didn’t use her sacred artifact. Instead, with a wave of her hand, countless flames appeared out of thin air and instantly descended upon the crowd, causing cries of agony to fill the air.
The four of them charged in like lions into a rabbit warren, slaughtering mercilessly. Cries of pain echoed throughout the city as screams of those dying one after another rang out. They moved freely, fighting with ruthless efficiency. Earlier, they had all felt frustrated—confused by a spatial rift and hunted by Void Worms without the chance to fight back. Now, they took this opportunity to vent their anger, killing wildly.
In just a few minutes, the Tianling tribe collapsed. The pace of the slaughter was too fast; within minutes, hundreds of them had died. Realizing the enemy was few in number but extremely powerful, and that they were professionals from the Spellcraft Clan, they began to flee, too afraid to continue fighting. At that moment, the Tianling tribe’s elite warriors appeared.
A dozen warriors clad in royal armor soared up from the ruins of the ancient city and charged at the four of them.
Each Tianling warrior wearing royal armor was accompanied by a dozen other elite warriors, though they didn’t wear such armor. Instead, they carried equipment that ordinary elite warriors didn’t have. In the Tianling tribe, this was second only to royal armor—imitations created by the tribe based on the royal version. Its defense and attack capabilities were far inferior, and it also looked rather crude.
Guo Shier was surrounded by three Tianling elite warriors in royal armor, but with his strength, he didn’t care at all. If he were dealing with dozens of such warriors, he might have to hold back temporarily, study their royal armor first, and then counterattack. But now, he didn’t care and charged straight at one of them, his Moon Blade shooting out like a storm.
“Kill one first,” Guo Shier thought simply—violent attacks, take them down one by one.
The Tianling warrior in royal armor suddenly emitted a dazzling beam of light from his dark brown armor, shooting straight at Guo Shier.
When the beam was emitted, the man was shocked to find that the person who had been locked in place by the royal armor had disappeared, and even the royal armor itself could not explain why. He hesitated for just a moment before the Moon Blade violently struck him. The entire royal armor emitted a faint blue glow, but how could it possibly defend against the attacks of the Moon Blade? With crackling sounds, an explosion occurred, and in an instant, the man was flung aside. The royal armor on his body seemed like ragged clothes now, as the Moon Blade had penetrated it and pierced his body. Had it not been for the strong defensive power of the royal armor, he would have died on the spot. This attack dealt him severe damage.
