Chapter 8: Serichlin (Part 1)
Serichlin said coldly, “Even professionals from the Spellcraft Clan wouldn’t dare be so rude to me. Who do you think you are?”
Borong’s expression changed instantly. He knew how formidable these three were. After fighting Qi Wuzhen, he realized clearly that they were by no means ordinary Spellcraft Clan professionals—they were top-tier professionals with overwhelming strength. He had never heard of such experts before. He was anxious, but under no circumstances could he step in to intervene, as that might provoke the joint hostility of Serichlin and Guo Shier. He clenched his fists and managed to stay silent.
Guo Shier hadn’t spoken yet when the old man suddenly shouted from within the altar. He said, “This woman is too arrogant! Shier, teach her a lesson! A mere expert from the Blade Clan dares to challenge us professionals—take her down! Now!” The old man’s soully fluctuations were intense, leaving Guo Shier puzzled. He thought to himself, “Strange. I’m not even upset, so why is this old man so agitated? Could he be interested in this woman?”
“I’m surprised you’re worried about something you shouldn’t. Where have we been rude to you?” Guo Shier replied calmly. In truth, he knew well that, given the Blade Clan’s belief in strength above all, although the opponent recognized their three as experts, they still thought themselves stronger, hence their extreme dissatisfaction. Moreover, the Blade Clan also had three experts, so in a one-on-one fight, Serichlin might become overconfident.
Serichlin had no desire to talk further. She said coldly, “Get out!”
Qi Wuzhen and Li Ran were stunned. How dare she order them to leave? Who did she think she was? Anger began to rise in them as well. Qi Wuzhen snorted coldly, his expression changing. Li Ran raised his head and asked, “Are you telling us to leave?”
Serichlin wasn’t really asking them to leave. By saying “get out,” she meant to go outside and fight, not to drive them away. No matter how arrogant Serichlin was, she wouldn’t drive away three Spellcraft Clan professionals. After all, Spellcraft Clan professionals were not easy to provoke. Even if she could win, she wouldn’t dare kill a professional unless no one was watching. If someone were present, the consequences of killing a professional were beyond her ability to bear.
Blade Madman had remained silent until this moment, when he finally said, “Serichlin wants to go outside and fight you…”
Guo Shier asked, “What do you mean? You want to fight me?”
Serichlin replied, “That’s right. Do you dare come out and fight me?”
Guo Shier said indifferently, “No problem. Let’s clarify first—is it a life-or-death fight or just a sparring match? It’s up to you!”
These words were quite powerful. With Cereslin’s pride, she would definitely choose a life-or-death fight. If it were just sparring, she couldn’t bear to lose face. But Dao Kuang was very cautious and said, “Just a sparring match, no need for a life-or-death fight. There’s no hatred between us.” He could see Guo Shier’s indifferent attitude and felt uneasy, sensing something wasn’t right.
Guo Shier suddenly laughed and said, “Are the people of your Sword Clan always this foolish? As soon as we meet, you propose a fight. Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve fought—some exercise would be good.”
Li Ran also couldn’t help but laugh. He glanced at Bolong. When they first met, this guy also seemed arrogant, but now he was quite obedient. He wondered why the people of the Sword Clan acted like this. Maybe it was indeed as Guo Shier said—people of the Sword Clan just liked to be foolish.
Upon hearing the word “foolish,” Cereslin’s anger flared up. She turned and headed for the door, emitting a fierce aura that scared the members of the Machine Clan to retreat hastily.
Guo Shier turned and said, “Alright, I know everyone wants to watch the excitement. Let’s go outside together.” He walked calmly toward the door.
The Handsome Old Man said, “Don’t spare her! Beat her hard—spank her! Spank her butt!”
Guo Shier was speechless. He asked, “Did she annoy you? You want to spank her?”
The Handsome Old Man replied, “She didn’t annoy me. She annoyed our Spell Clan!”
Guo Shier shook his head slightly, unable to understand why the Handsome Old Man was acting crazy. This guy had been very quiet lately, hardly speaking. After a while, he finally realized what was going on. His soul trembled slightly as he asked, “Are you done?”
The Handsome Old Man said, “Yes, everything’s sorted out. Ugh, it’s so boring… By the way, you’ve fought less and less recently. You need to train harder. You’re growing too fast—you must fight more to get familiar with your strength.”
Guo Shier could only smile bitterly. Now he understood why the Handsome Old Man was shouting randomly—it was because he was bored and wanted to see some excitement, especially since the opponent was a beautiful woman. He didn’t expect this old man to have such an interest.
As everyone left the hall, Tularata and Stan showed signs of excitement. The chance to see a master of the Sword Clan fight against a professional of the Spell Clan was extremely rare. They had only seen such battles a few times in their lives, and even then, they were just minor skirmishes. Although Stan had witnessed one such battle—Qi Wuzhen against Bolong—Qi Wuzhen hadn’t gone all out, yet it still destroyed half a building.
Borong’s expression turned grim. He quietly approached Dao Kuang and whispered, “My lord, please remind Lady Cericlin that they… are very strong.”
Dao Kuang nodded. He went over to Cericlin and spoke to her in a low voice. Cericlin showed an indifferent look; she was convinced she could overpower them. Before this, she had fought a caster from the Spellcraft Clan once and had managed to hold them at bay. Although she hadn’t defeated them, the caster also hadn’t won either, and they parted ways.
Since then, she had grown confident in casters from the Spellcraft Clan. In her view, all casters were experts—if she could draw even with one expert, she could do the same with another. She had no idea that, although professionals in this world were all altar-level experts, they still had ranks, and she had yet to encounter a top-tier professional.
Dao Kuang was also troubled. He understood that Cericlin was being overly arrogant, which would surely lead to trouble, but he couldn’t keep reminding her because her strength was not inferior to his. After some thought, he asked, “Tulata, do you have a fighting area here?”
Tulata replied, “Yes, yes… it’s not far away, next door. There’s a large open space there.”
They arrived at the open area, a grassy field with only a few sparse trees. The ground was flat, covering about a few hundred square meters. In fact, this area was still too small—given Cericlin and Guo Shier’s strength, such a space wasn’t suitable for a fight. With a single teleportation, Guo Shier could travel thousands of meters back and forth; a few square kilometers of space was far too limited for him to fully utilize his abilities.
Tulata said proudly, “This place has been prepared. Half a meter below the soil lies a thick metal plate. This ground is specifically designed for testing weapons. You can fight freely without worry.” Then he ordered his subordinates, and soon, metal plates rose from all sides, encircling the area. He said proudly, “That’s it. Now it won’t affect the houses in the manor.”
Qi Wu Zhen couldn’t help but chuckle, and Li Ran’s lips also curled slightly as he couldn’t suppress his amusement. Come on, how could such metal plates withstand the attacks of professionals? They were underestimating the power of professionals’ attacks.
Guo Shier didn’t laugh; he was still chatting nonsense with the handsome old man. According to the handsome old man, there was no need to rush to defeat the opponent—instead, they should slowly torment her so that whenever she saw professionals in the future, she would panic and her legs would turn weak. Guo Shier noticed that the handsome old man’s words became increasingly absurd and couldn’t help but say, “Handsome old man, are you interested in her?”
The handsome old man immediately got angry and said, “Interested in her? How could I possibly be interested in her? Even if I were, what could I do? Damn it, I just don’t like her.”
Guo Shier sighed and thought to himself, “This old man is about to go crazy.” His soul trembled slightly as he said, “Alright, I get it. I’ll do as you say regarding how to fight.” Anyway, he also didn’t like Cereseline, so tormenting her a bit wasn’t a big deal. It would be good to make the handsome old man happy too.
The altar faintly protected their bodies. No other sacrificial treasures were used—only the Moon Blade was released. A streak of light flashed as it swiftly circled around their bodies.
Cereseline’s expression turned serious. Though proud, she was always very cautious in battle. It wasn’t until then that Dao Kuang felt relieved. He secretly praised her, thinking that she truly was a master of the Sword Clan, able to quickly calm her impetuous mood and prepare seriously for battle.
Bo Long opened his mouth briefly before closing it tightly. He stepped aside to observe carefully. This kind of battle was extremely beneficial to him. He didn’t understand the combat techniques of spellcasters, but he knew the fighting style of the Sword Clan. Being able to gain combat experience from Cereseline’s battle was a rare opportunity. He widened his eyes and stared intently at the two of them.
Cereseline raised her hand forward, palm up, and with a slight movement, there was a clanging sound as the long sword on her back jumped into her hand. Immediately afterward, another short blade flew out, turning into a streak of light that landed at her feet with a whooshing sound. It was unclear how she controlled it, but Cereseline’s body gradually rose off the ground. Bo Long was shocked—this was an advanced technique of the Sword Clan, using swords to lift the body during battle. The advantage was that the short blades could work together with the long sword to launch a dual-blade attack.
Both of them used swords—Guo Shier’s sword was a sacrificial treasure, while Cereseline’s was a weapon unique to the Sword Clan. There was a huge difference between the two.
Seeing the two ready to fight, everyone quickly stepped back. Tulata shouted, “Everyone uninvolved, leave this place immediately.” His subordinates and servants rushed outside, while the others stepped aside as well. Tulata activated a controller, and several thick metal pillars rose from the ground. He said, “With these pillars, we should be able to avoid being affected.” These pillars were over a meter in diameter, allowing them to take cover behind them if attacked.
Sericeline held her long knife, looking full of confidence. She said, “Sword Clan, Sericeline—please show me the way!”
