Chapter 6: Mad Slaughter (Part 2)
Guo Shier turned and saw Qi Wu Zhen and Li Ran, bursting into joy. He shouted, “Back off! Sister Zhen and Brother Li Ran have arrived!” These two were like pillars of stability—with them around, everyone felt much more at ease; otherwise, it was hard to say when the fighting would end.
The seven of them soared into the air and teleported right beside Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen. Guo Shier sighed, “Sigh, finally. Is the Boundary-Piercing Ritual over?”
Li Ran nodded and asked, “What are these things? Humanoid intelligent beings?” Even though he had seen countless races in the Greater World, he had never encountered Purple-Armed Humans before.
Guo Shier replied, “Purple-Armed Humans. Their armor is biological, not particularly powerful, but they’re numerous and fearless. Only a few are skilled enough—nothing more than that. There are no even more formidable fighters… They’re so many that it makes my hands tremble.”
As they spoke, the group continued to retreat. The Purple-Armed Humans, as if on stimulants, pursued them frantically, with a few even flying in the air. Yet their flight speed wasn’t fast enough to surround the nine professionals.
The nine of them flew backward, facing the crowd of Purple-Armed Humans. Watching them chase wildly, Zhen Wu Ji gave a bitter smile. “These things are utterly baffling. Impossible to communicate with, impossible to approach—only killing remains… And they’re damn fearless. We’ve killed thousands of them, yet they still aren’t afraid…” Even he felt his hands shake from killing so much. For professionals, killing was almost routine, so they didn’t care much. But such mass slaughter still made them feel deeply uneasy.
Qi Wu Zhen asked Li Ran, “Should I do it or you?” It was rare for her to yield.
Li Ran hesitated slightly and said, “You do it.”
Qi Wu Zhen nodded decisively. “Okay.” She stopped retreating. Li Ran and the others continued to back away. They trusted Qi Wu Zhen more than themselves. If this woman went all out, she would be truly unstoppable. Even if she couldn’t fully unleash her strength here, she would still be stronger than them.
Not far away, circles of flames spread rapidly, and instantly, countless screams filled the air.
No one was better at playing with fire than Qi Wu Zhen. It was by mastering fire that she had risen to the level beyond the Ninth-Level Altar. So when they saw the flames spread, they weren’t surprised at all. If Qi Wu Zhen hadn’t set the fire, that would have been strange.
The entire ground began to burn violently. If not for concern over the invasive power of this world, Guo Shier knew Qi Wu Zhen had the means to draw out all the underground fire and magma. Rings of flames spread rapidly outward; anything or anyone that came into contact with them would burn endlessly—such flames could not be extinguished. The Purple Armored warriors struggled and screamed in the flames. Aizek and Meili shuddered; as humanoid monsters, they feared flames greatly, especially those with the nature of ritual fire. The two retreated quickly, their faces showing signs of fear. The flames moved like living creatures, lashing out in all directions. The Purple Armored warriors finally collapsed, desperately trying to flee, but how could they outrun the speed of the flames? In just a few moments, the flames even reached Li Ran’s group. Just as Li Ran was about to cast a spell, the flames suddenly circled around them and headed toward their backs. Guo Shier couldn’t help but exclaim, “Amazing!” Halechi said weakly, “Sister Zhen is truly mighty…” Everyone burst into laughter—no one had said that phrase in ages. Guo Shier also thought to himself, “Sister Zhen is truly mighty!” It was indeed mighty. The seven of them had struggled hard for a long time, exhausted from fighting, but as soon as she stepped in, things changed—they no longer had the ability to generate such fierce flames. A single blast of fire reduced thousands of Purple Armored warriors to ashes; none could escape, not even those with deep purple biological armor. Qi Wu Zhen flew back, glanced at everyone, and said, “Protect me… I need to cultivate.” From that last attack, the power of this world had invaded her soul. Li Ran said, “Don’t worry. Leave it to me. You stay by her side. If more Purple Armored warriors come, hand them over to me.” Qi Wu Zhen already had the soul scriptures given to her by Guo Shier, so she only needed to recite them. She landed on the ground and began silently reciting the scriptures to purify her soul. Guo Shier and the others formed a defensive formation around Qi Wu Zhen. Except for Li Ran, who flew into the air, the rest sat cross-legged and waited. Because Qi Wu Zhen’s soul was extremely powerful, the spiritual fluctuations caused by her silent recitation were also very intense, benefiting those sitting around her. Although the soul scriptures were passed to Qi Wu Zhen by Guo Shier, it didn’t prevent his own spiritual fluctuations from occurring. Since Qi Wu Zhen was reciting the scriptures, Guo Shier could also enjoy the benefits alongside her.
The group had just gone through a battle and were also affected by the forces of this world in their souls, though to a lesser extent. Even without using the Soul Scripture to purify them, their own souls were enough to drive away these forces. With Qi Wu Zhen’s soul fluctuations, they quickly regained their composure.
Half an hour later, Qi Wu Zhen stopped chanting. With her strength, the previous attack hadn’t allowed too much of this world’s force to invade, so it was quickly expelled. She let out a sigh of relief and said with a smile, “If it weren’t for the Soul Scripture, I wouldn’t dare attack so recklessly. We’re really lucky to be able to use most of our strength.”
Li Ran landed and said, “No one’s coming. We can leave now.”
Guo Shier said, “Wait a moment. I’ll go retrieve the Talisman House.” The Talisman House was a mobile dwelling, and he wasn’t willing to abandon it. He flew off not far away and soon returned with it.
Li Ran and the others were already in the air waiting. Due to the purple mist surrounding them, even with the Vision-Enhancing Spell, they couldn’t see far. When Guo Shier arrived, Li Ran said, “We can leave now. Hehe, the Purple-Clad Ones haven’t shown up, which saves us a lot of trouble.”
They activated the Boundary-Breaking spell, and Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen chanted the incantations together. This step was necessary—when arriving in any unfamiliar small world, to leave smoothly, they had to rely on the Boundary-Breaking spell to find the world’s weak points so they could escape.
Traveling quickly had become routine for Guo Shier and his group. Since entering other small worlds, they had been rushing constantly. Aside from fighting and searching, they were also looking for weak points in these worlds to find a way out, only to repeat the cycle, seemingly endlessly.
Gradually, the purple mist thinned, and the scenery in the distance became visible.
“There are trees!”
“There are animals!”
It was a plain-like area with sparse forests, overgrown weeds on the ground, and many oddly shaped animals. A group of animals with horns on their heads and purple fur were grazing on wild grass, while fowl resembling pheasants were scattered among the trees, leisurely searching for food.
The forest grew denser, and the trees were no longer short and sparse but tall and sturdy, forming a primeval forest.
Some fierce beasts and birds began to appear in the forest, but of course, they posed no threat to Guo Shier and his group.
No one bothered searching for materials, not even Guo Shier. The Purple-Clad Ones in this world were very strange, so everyone didn’t want to delay—the sooner they left, the better.
Racing forward, Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen constantly cast spells to propel them through the boundary-breaking journey. The boundary-breaking mechanism would automatically search for weak points in the small worlds, saving Li Ran a lot of trouble—had they had to search on their own, who knew when they would find a suitable spot.
Zhen Wu Ji said, “Strange, not a single Purple Armored person in sight.”
The others also realized that they truly hadn’t seen a single Purple Armored person throughout their journey, as if Qi Wu Zhen had burned them all to ashes.
Li Ran smiled and said, “It’s better not to see them. I actually hope we don’t. Once we find a weak point, we should leave quickly. Who knows what the next small world will be like? Hopefully, it’ll be peaceful.”
Qi Wu Zhen replied, “Stop dreaming!”
Li Ran was already used to Qi Wu Zhen’s tone, so he just smiled without saying anything. In fact, he understood that Qi Wu Zhen was right—small worlds were the most complex, with all kinds of variations, far more complicated than secret realms. It all depended on their luck. If they were unlucky and entered a formidable small world and couldn’t escape, they would be trapped forever.
Apart from Li Ran, no one else knew how to get to the larger world. Even Li Ran wasn’t entirely sure, only having a rough direction, which was further restricted by weak spatial points. Who knew where he would take them? But Li Ran didn’t reveal a thing. He wouldn’t dare admit he wasn’t confident about entering the larger world—otherwise, even if they didn’t beat him to death, they would surely scold him to death. He wasn’t that stupid.
Li Ran said with a smile, “Xiao Zhenzhen, the truth is always hard to hear.”
Qi Wu Zhen snorted and ignored this smooth-talking guy. They had fought countless times and already understood each other’s personalities and tactics. She really had no energy to continue fighting.
Li Ran seemed satisfied with Qi Wu Zhen’s attitude. He smiled happily and stopped provoking her.
Guo Shier also felt uneasy. From the conversation between Li Ran and Qi Wu Zhen, he sensed that the journey ahead would likely be difficult.
Seven days later, the group finally flew out of the forest. The terrain gradually rose, with a huge slope extending upward toward the sky—a truly remarkable landscape.
The trees became sparser as they climbed the slope, and the species also changed significantly. In the blink of an eye, they reached the middle of the slope. Guo Shier looked up and saw a white line in the distance—the snow line.
Soon, everyone reached the top of the slope. According to Guo Shier, this place was tens of thousands of meters higher than the original forest. It was a world of ice and snow, with biting cold in the air, but the group wasn’t bothered by the cold at all—they had seen even colder places before.
After flying for a while longer, Li Ran said, “This is the plateau!”
The white ice and snow in the distance emitted a faint purple glow. After flying a short distance further, almost all the ice on the ground turned purple, giving the entire landscape a pale purple hue that exuded an indescribable elegance.
Qi Wu Zhen suddenly said, “Purple-armored people!”
