Chapter 3: Returning to the Fire Sect (Part 2)
Guo Shier said, “Good. There’s not much of this meat wine, as not all the blood from talisman beasts is suitable for brewing.” He took out a crystal bottle—smaller, about the size of a matchbox, and more delicate. “It’s only one jin per bottle…” He then produced two jade bowls to prevent the two types of wine from mixing in flavor.
A stream of wine flowed out. This time, it wasn’t light golden but golden-red, with strands of blood floating in the golden liquid, looking both beautiful and eerie.
Li Ran held the jade bowl without moving for a long time before saying, “This wine… it’s simply incredible.” Taking a sip, he immediately felt warmth spread throughout his body. His eyes lit up as he said, “Wow! This stuff… Give me a few bottles. Even if injured, just one sip of this wine can heal me! It’s a shame to drink it like this.”
This meat wine was actually brewed by the old man Shuai. Guo Shier only provided some ideas; Shuai handled everything. The old man Shuai was extremely meticulous, and the wine he brewed satisfied Guo Shier greatly.
Guo Shier took out a dozen bottles of vegetarian wine and meat wine and handed them over, keeping only a few for himself. As long as there were enough ingredients, Shuai would keep brewing. Li Ran took them without hesitation. By now, the aroma of the wine filled the restaurant, attracting many professionals. One old man rushed to Guo Shier’s table and asked, “Brothers, where did you get this wine? Could you give me some?”
He was a high-ranking Grand Sage. Seeing the old man approach, the other professionals stopped in their tracks.
Li Ran smiled and said, “This wine isn’t for sale.” He put away the bottles on the table, leaving only the vegetarian wine he had taken out first.
The old man couldn’t tell Guo Shier and Li Ran’s professional ranks. He sat down and said with a smile, “You brewed it yourselves? Impressive! I could smell it downstairs. Heh, can you sell me a bottle?” He swallowed hard, making a gulping sound, even blushing a bit.
Guo Shier immediately realized this guy was an alcoholic. He smiled and said, “I’ll give you a bottle. It’s fate that we met.” Then he handed over a bottle of vegetarian wine. As for the meat wine, forget it—it was quite precious. This batch of meat wine was brewed using the blood of high-grade aberrant talisman beasts.
Li Ran laughed, “You’re really generous.”
Guo Shier replied, “It’s just a bottle of wine. No big deal.”
The old man stared at Guo Shier for a long time before saying, “Why do I find you so familiar? It seems like I’ve seen you before?” He held the bottle of wine tightly in his hand.
Guo Shier examined him carefully and exclaimed in surprise, “Elder Han Yan?” He pointed at the bottle of wine. There were very few wines on the Earthfire Continent. When he first arrived at the Fire Sect, he had met Han Yan. He never expected that after all these years, this guy had become a heavy drinker.
Han Yan also recognized Guo Shier and said in surprise, “Hey, it’s you?”
Li Ran asked, “Are you two acquaintances?”
Guo Shier replied, “We know each other. When I first came to the Fire Sect, he was still a junior Great Sage Master and an enforcement elder of the inner sect. Back then, he tricked me into drinking his wine.”
Han Yan laughed heartily. He said, “Ah, ever since that incident, I became obsessed with drinking. Haha, I never thought I’d see you again.” He knew that Guo Shier was an elder of the Fire Sect and someone from their own sect.
Guo Shier said, “By the way, Elder Han, you should know my master, Ku Mu. Do you know where they went?”
Han Yan indeed knew Ku Mu. He said, “Your master went looking for you. Back then… many people in our Fire Sect disappeared. The sect sent many professionals to search, but there was no news. Were you one of them? What happened back then?”
Guo Shier was stunned. He had a vague idea that his master had gone out to look for him, but there had been no definite news. He never expected it to be true. He said, “Damn it, the Gu Xilong family!” He was filled with hatred. Luo Jie and Qi Nanshan had invaded the Gu Xilong Continent just to find him. He never thought another master had also gone looking for him.
Han Yan asked in confusion, “What Gu Xilong family?”
Guo Shier replied, “Elder Han, the Gu Xilong family is an ancient clan. Back then, they captured many professionals, and I was one of them. It took me a long time to escape.”
Li Ran was shocked. He asked, “You were captured by the Gu Xilong family? Are you kidding?”
Guo Shier said, “My strength wasn’t as strong as it is now. I couldn’t fight them… so I had no choice but to be captured.”
Li Ran was very curious. He asked, “At that time, you hadn’t built your own altar yet?”
Guo Shier shook his head. “If I had an altar… maybe I wouldn’t have been captured. Damn it, we were tricked into the Sealing Jade Realm. Although we dug up quite a lot of Sealing Jade, we fell into a trap… Many people were captured that way back then.”
Han Yan was dumbfounded. He was stunned for a while before saying, “You… you’ve built your own altar?”
Guo Shier said, “It was only after going to the continent of the Gu Xilong family that he built his own altar.”
Han Yan held the wine bottle, not knowing what to do. He had actually asked a master at the altar level for wine—this was too absurd. He didn’t know whether to put down the bottle or keep holding it, his face full of embarrassment as he muttered something under his breath.
Li Ran smiled and said, “You don’t need to feel awkward or worried. Shier wouldn’t bully anyone unless you start trouble first.” He patted Han Yan on the shoulder.
Han Yan shuddered slightly and immediately became respectful. Guo Shier shook his head and said, “Elder Han, there’s no need for this. Being able to see you again is like meeting an old friend.”
Han Yan still didn’t know that Guo Shier was already a master at the sixth-tier altar. If he had known this guy was even stronger than the sect’s founder, he might have felt even more uneasy and probably wouldn’t have been able to sit still.
It was only then that Guo Shier truly understood why Li Ran had hidden his strength back then. People in this world were extremely sensitive to professional ranks—higher-ranked professionals held high positions and most of the resources. If Guo Shier had stayed at the Fire Sect, the sect would have done its best to help him obtain various resources.
Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan returned together.
Han Yan quickly stepped aside, knowing he shouldn’t stay any longer. He said, “Shier… uh, senior, I’ll take my leave now…”
Seeing his nervous demeanor, Guo Shier didn’t intend to keep him. He said, “I’ll give you the wine. Take it.”
Han Yan picked up the wine bottle that had been placed back on the table, thanked him, and left. He didn’t dare stay in the tavern any longer. After giving a few instructions to the tavern owner, he flew back to the sect. This matter had to be reported—someone in the sect had advanced to the altar level; this wasn’t a trivial matter.
Eagle Demon asked, “Who’s that guy?”
Guo Shier replied, “We met him when we first came to the Fire Sect… He’s Han Yan, the enforcement elder of the Fire Sect’s inner circle.”
Eagle Demon couldn’t help but laugh. “I remember that guy. Back then, it was for a few bottles of wine… Is it for wine again this time?”
Guo Shier smiled. “You guessed right! Yes, it’s for wine!”
Eagle Demon shook his head. “Your wine is really remarkable. True Sister also extorted quite a lot of good wine from you back then.”
Guo Shier said, “That wine isn’t good. Avoid it.”
Li Ran nodded and said, “Good water makes good wine. Hehe, not bad.” Soul Spring was the best water in this world. There was no such Soul Spring in the greater world, so if this wine were taken to there, it would be extremely precious.
Guo Shier also agreed with Li Ran’s view. When it came to brewing wine, Earthlings were still the best, but limited by materials and water, the wines on Earth were vastly different from those Guo Shier was making now.
Guo Shier asked, “Uncle Eagle Demon, have you found any clues?”
Eagle Demon replied, “There are some pieces of information. Let Old Luo explain.”
Luo Zhan said, “Your master passed through theglass Secret Realm, but no one knows how. I’ve learned that theglass Secret Realm is similar to the Tongyou Secret Realm—it’s also a hub that can lead in all directions, though theglass Secret Realm can take you to even farther places.”
Guo Shier had no idea what theglass Secret Realm was; he had never heard of it before. Turning to Li Ran, he asked, “Brother Li Ran, do you know about theglass Secret Realm?”
Li Ran replied, “Of course. Theglass Secret Realm, the Tongyou Secret Realm, and the Yachi Secret Realm are all hub-type secret realms that can lead to many places, even across multiple continents. Among them, the Tongyou Secret Realm is the most ordinary, while the Yachi Secret Realm is the most powerful. I never expected there to be aglass Secret Realm in this area.”
Guo Shier said, “Brother Li Ran, I have something left by my master. Can you track down my master?”
Li Ran laughed and scolded, “You little brat! I’m not a dog that can follow a scent!”
Guo Shier quickly waved his hands, speaking in a panicked mess. He explained, “Brother Li Ran, that’s not what I meant… Hehe, I just want to know… do you have any way to track him?”
Li Ran said, “It’s not that easy. Searching for someone in this world is like looking for a needle in a haystack. There are too many places, and the chances of finding them are extremely slim.”
Guo Shier sighed. He knew all too well how difficult it was to find someone. Back then, in his search for Master Luo Jie, he had almost lost his way home. Now he had to search for someone again—this time, his master was looking for him, and he had to go find his master. With a sigh, he said, “This is frustrating… Damn it, I have to find them even if I can’t!”
Before leaving this world, he refused to be content without seeing his master and masteress one last time.
In this world, among the people who were best to him, Monier ranked first, followed by Luo Jie, then Kumu. Monier had doted on him like a son since he was young. Fortunately, having been reincarnated, he had a more mature mind; otherwise, he might have become spoiled. Guo Shier gritted his teeth and said, “Brother Li Ran, I’m sorry. I must find Master Kumu and Masteress Monier. I can’t rest until I see them.”
Li Ran nodded and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll help you look. Your real sister… I guess she also sees potential in you. We have plenty of time to wait. While you look for a master, work hard to raise your professional rank as well. Hehe, that way we won’t delay each other.”
Guo Shier said, “Thank you, big brother…” He was afraid that Li Ran would stop him; if Li Ran did, he really wouldn’t know what to do.
Li Ran waved his hand and said, “If you don’t look… that’s when I’ll find it strange. Going to look for them is more in line with your personality.”
Guo Shier said, “It might take a long time.”
Li Ran said, “Let me set a deadline for you. By the time you reach the eighth-level altar, if you still haven’t found them, I guess it’s really impossible to find them.” In other words, he would accompany Guo Shier in the search during the time before Guo Shier reached the eighth-level altar. By the time Guo Shier reached that level and a long time had passed, if he still hadn’t found his master and masteress, they would have no choice but to give up.
Just as they had exchanged a few words, Han Yan rushed in and said, “The Ancestor has arrived…”
An old man walked in. As soon as Guo Shier saw him, he immediately stood up. He recognized the man—it was the only Ancestor of the Fire Sect, the one who had saved him on the small boat by Jingming Lake back when he was at the third-level altar.
The Ancestor of the Fire Sect was taken aback upon seeing Guo Shier. He also remembered that child with great potential and said, “It’s you!”
Guo Shier stepped forward and said, “Hello, Ancestor. I’m Guo Shier.”
