Chapter 4: Robbery (Part 2)
The Eagle Demon instantly flew into a rage and shouted, “I’ll fuck your mother! Kill them!” He charged straight into the crowd. This guy preferred close combat and didn’t like using his sacrificial artifact for long-range attacks. In his words, such attacks were pointless and failed to excite him, so he usually carried his altar on his head for protection.
Miyan Ren screamed, “Stop! Please stop!”
Thwack! Thwack! A series of slashing sounds echoed.
Who could withstand the slashes of an altar-level expert? In an instant, many professionals fell. Miyan Ren could no longer hold back; his sacrificial artifact was finally used—a wooden spear emitting green light, attempting to stop the Eagle Demon’s massacre.
Guo Shieru pointed at the Moon Blade, which instantly transformed into a golden-red beam and slammed into the wooden spear. Boom! Miyan Ren let out a scream as blood gushed from his mouth. That single strike shattered his life sacrificial artifact. The gap in their strength was enormous; if not for Guo Shieru still wanting to ask Miyan Ren some questions, that strike would have taken half of his life.
The wooden spear shattered, and Miyan Ren staggered twice before collapsing to the ground. Desperately, he shouted, “Damn it, all of you, retreat! Get out!”
The remaining professionals fled desperately. The Eagle Demon sneered, “Flee? None of you will get away!” He moved around the hall, hearing only screams as professionals were killed one after another. He showed no mercy; the entire North Talisman Sect was wiped out, its entire family gone—what was there left for him to worry about?
That’s why no ancient family or major sect would easily attack a continent with altar-level experts. Once they provoked such people, their own families and sects would suffer greatly. Altar-level experts were highly skilled and destructive, hard to capture, and even if they could be killed in the end, the cost would be unbearable.
In just a few moments, all the professionals in the hall were killed. The altar above Guo Shieru suddenly extended countless tiny tentacles, swirling wildly to collect the scattered souls.
Miyan Ren was shocked. He realized now that robbery wasn’t their true intention—killing was. He had been severely wounded by Guo Shieru, his body weak, and his life sacrificial artifact destroyed. If it had been a tangible altar, he might have had a way to recover, but since it was an intangible one, its destruction caused his strength to plummet rapidly. The altar was on the verge of collapsing.
“You… who are you? Why…”
Guo Shier laughed coldly and said, “It’s simple. The Gu Mi family destroyed our family, ruined our continent, and plundered all its population… Now, haha, this is just a small retribution!” As he spoke, he directed Gu Xi Bi’s tentacles to sweep through the entire warehouse.
Mi Yan Ren was completely stunned. This was the most terrifying situation. If it had been just robbery, it wouldn’t have mattered much. Even if some people were killed and things were stolen, they wouldn’t have gone to such extreme measures. But they were here for revenge, leaving no room for compromise. There were many feuds between continents, and this was the most dangerous kind.
Eagle Demon stepped up to him, slapped him unconscious with one hand, and said, “This guy is a slick bastard.”
Guo Shier nodded. From the start, Mi Yan Ren hadn’t shown any hostility. Even when he attacked, it was to save people, so neither Guo Shier nor Eagle Demon intended to kill him.
After collecting all the talisman bags, Guo Shier used Gu Xi Bi’s tentacles to probe into Mi Yan Ren’s virtual altar to search for his hidden talisman space. Soon, a smile appeared on his face—this guy had hidden quite a few valuable items. After stealing them, Guo Shier said with a laugh, “I really can’t bring myself to kill him. Heh, lucky me—I found some special materials. Anyway, let’s spare his life and leave.” The two flew out of the underground hall.
As soon as they emerged from the cave entrance, they heard someone shout, “Attack!”
Countless talismanic blades struck down like rain. Eagle Demon let out a curse, “Damn it…” followed by a series of crackling sounds. He activated the altar’s protection and charged headfirst into the crowd. Guo Shier glanced around and couldn’t help cursing as well—there were seven or eight hundred professionals attacking them frantically.
Guo Shier didn’t spot a single altar-level expert. The strongest among them were high-level Grand Sage Masters, along with many master-level professionals wielding talismanic swords, spears, and bows as they fought wildly. Annoyed, he unleashed his Moon Blades—countless tiny moon blades rained down like a storm.
Just as Eagle Demon had killed dozens of people, Guo Shier’s attack arrived, knocking all the professionals to the ground. He complained, “Shier, leave a few for me!”
Guo Shier replied, “We don’t have time to waste. There’s another place we need to go.”
Eagle Demon suddenly turned around and said, “Damn, that old man is fierce!” In the distance, the professionals’ camp was on fire, turning the entire city’s sky red. It was unclear how many buildings were burning.
The city’s defenses in Midun City had been activated, but since the battle took place within the city, the defensive arrays were completely useless.
Guo Shier said, “Hurry up!” Then he teleported away.
The two arrived on another street, where Guo Shier said, “This is it!”
This place was also the warehouse of Miyuan Trading Company. Before they could even land, numerous hunting vehicles took off, followed by a large group of professionals who surrounded them. Guo Shier said, “They react quickly. Heh, well-trained. In that case, let’s fight.”
The altar suddenly sank and expanded rapidly. Guo Shier sat cross-legged on it. Eagle Demon still held the altar above his head. He said, “I’ll handle the rear. Shier, just charge in and fight!”
Guo Shier replied, “Elder Shuai, you control Guxi Bi. I’m going to wipe them out! Make sure to collect soul beads.”
Elder Shuai said cheerfully, “No problem. Go ahead and fight. Do you need my help?”
Guo Shier said, “Not for now…” He activated the Moon Blade and steered the altar straight toward the group of hunting vehicles. The Moon Blade turned into a tornado, with countless blade-like strands swirling and cutting, emitting a deafening roar. Instantly, all the hunting vehicles fled in panic. They never expected these two to be altar-level experts. To deal with altar-level experts, one must also be an altar-level professional.
Professionals who hadn’t reached the altar level could only run when facing altar-level experts. Surviving was already considered a victory.
The tornado of blade-like strands rushed into the group of hunting vehicles in an instant, creating a thunderous noise. One after another, the hunting vehicles shattered into pieces, caught fire, and fell, setting the buildings on the ground on fire as well.
Guo Shier and Eagle Demon moved back and forth, swiftly defeating their opponents.
A few minutes later, all the professionals who could escape had vanished without a trace. The area was engulfed in flames, and no one was visible. Guo Shier said, “Let’s go down. There should be another warehouse here.”
Eagle Demon swung his sword vertically downward, causing a loud explosion that sent dust into the air. With two more strikes, a large hole appeared in the ground. He laughed and said, “Exactly. There is indeed an underground warehouse.”
Many professionals flew out of the hole in panic, only to be killed one by one by Eagle Demon at the entrance.
The two flew into the hole and soon saw a passage. Guo Shier said with a smile, “Uncle Eagle Demon, if you had destroyed the warehouse, the losses would have been huge.”
Eagle Demon replied proudly, “That’s impossible. I know my limits!”
Luo Jie received the signal and smiled, saying, “Things aren’t going smoothly for the Twelve. It’s time to take action. Hehe, let’s start too. There’s a warehouse over there—let’s charge in.” Sitting on the altar, he said with murderous intent, “Kill anyone you see. Don’t hold back.”
Qi Nanshan said, “Everyone’s ready. Hehe.” Luo Jie replied, “The altar-level experts are mine and Nanshan’s. The rest of you two are in charge. Well, your main task is to protect Xiao Jie and Xiao Hong—make sure they’re not hurt.” With that, he activated the altar and charged forward.
At this point, all four stopped hiding. They sat on the altar one after another and began attacking using their sacred artifacts.
Chaos immediately ensued in the professionals’ camp. Luo Jie flicked his fingers, sending countless flames of souls flying down like snowflakes. When they landed on people, they instantly turned them to ashes. When they landed on buildings, no runes on those buildings could withstand such flames, causing them to catch fire immediately.
The warehouse also had trap-like rune arrays, but they couldn’t stop a master like Luo Jie. After just one attack, the rune arrays were completely destroyed, and the others rushed in right away.
Qi Nanshan shouted, “Seize first, then kill!”
A moment later, they flew out of the warehouse. Before leaving, Luo Zhan set fire to all the remaining low-level supplies, including a large amount of food and supplies, which were completely burned.
Since it was a professionals’ camp, there were as many as a hundred thousand professionals gathered there. The sky was filled with figures, along with countless flying vehicles, surrounding the warehouse. They only knew they had been invaded but didn’t realize the invaders were altar-level experts.
Countless rune lamps and flames illuminated the sky brightly. The professionals were ready for battle. The two leaders were two altar-level experts from the Gu Mi family—one a virtual altar and the other a two-story physical altar. They represented the ultimate power of Mi Dun City and were the strongest professionals in the area.
When Luo Jie and the others flew out, the two altar-level professionals on the other side were terrified. One was an expert with a seven-story altar, another with a six-story altar, and two more with one-story altars. How could they possibly win?
Luo Jie laughed and said, “Too weak. Only two altar-level experts—just a bunch of lowly scum.”
Qi Nanshan said, “Let me deal with these two…”
Luo Jie, too lazy to fight, said, “Alright, leave it to you. I’ll take a rest too.”
The professional with the two-tiered altar had a heartbeat like a drum. He managed to calm himself down slightly, summoned the altar to fly up, and said, “I am the lord of Midun City, from the Gu Mi family, Mi Daoyuan. It’s an honor to meet you, senior.”
The professional with the virtual altar also flew over and said, “From the Gu Mi family, Mi Qing. It’s an honor to meet you, senior.”
Luo Jie burst into laughter and said, “Senior? I certainly don’t deserve such a title… Your ancestors’ hometowns were destroyed by you youngsters. Haha, hahaha…”
All the professionals present felt goosebumps all over their bodies. An inner chill caused extreme distress in their souls—a sense that great disaster was approaching.
