Chapter 3: The Warehouse (Part 1)
When the altars rose high into the sky, Guo Shier didn’t help but exclaim in awe. The entire city was illuminated by glowing talismans, turning it into a city that never slept. All buildings blessed with talismans emitted a faint glow—hard to notice during the day, but dazzling at night due to their colorful lights.
The sky was also bustling, with many flying vehicles and chases streaking across the city, leaving trails of colored light in the darkness.
Especially in the area where professionals lived, it resembled the metropolises of his past life. Though there were no towering buildings, the shimmering talismans illuminated everything just as brightly as the neon lights of those metropolises.
Eagle Demon said, “I didn’t realize it during the day, but Midtown is actually so beautiful at night.”
Luo Jie ruined the mood by saying, “No matter how beautiful it is… I’ll still destroy it!”
Guo Shier replied, “Yes, no matter how beautiful a city is… it can still be destroyed. That over there must be the professionals’ gathering area. Let’s go.” In an instant, the two altars silently flew above the city.
After circling the professionals’ gathering area, everyone felt a bit frustrated—where could they find a warehouse?
Guo Shier said, “Flying around up here won’t work. We need to land. It’s best to catch someone in authority.”
Luo Jie said, “Okay, let’s go down!” He knew it was impossible to find their target by just flying around. Soon, they landed in a dark alley.
The group stood silently at the entrance of the alley, hidden in the darkness. Professionals passed by from time to time, and they began to choose targets. After a while, Guo Shier said, “Damn it, do they always come out in groups at night?”
Qi Nanshan calmly replied, “They’re all low-level professionals. This won’t work.”
Luo Jie slowly stepped out of the alley and said, “Let’s go.” The group split up and followed him out of the alley.
The streets were lit by talismans, just like the streets in his past life, even brighter. Guo Shier and Luo Jie walked together, while Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan walked together. Qi Nanshan led Nan You, and the six of them separated and quickly blended into the crowd on the streets.
Guo Shier asked, “It’s so late—why are there so many people on the streets?”
Luo Jie replied, “Who knows… Let’s go over there. If nothing else works, we’ll just storm into the homes of high-level professionals. I’m sure we can find someone suitable.”
Guo Shier was also puzzled. He said, “I still haven’t seen a single person alone. Master, let’s enter through that alley—it should be the professionals’ residences.”
Luo Jie glanced around and turned to walk toward the alley. It was a small alley, quite quiet. After walking about a hundred meters down it, they saw the doors of many residences. Luo Jie said, “Let’s go a bit further in; this place is closer to the outside. Hehe, it’s even quieter in there.” After Luo Jie and Guo Shier disappeared at the entrance of the alley, Qi Nanshan and the others gradually entered the alley as well, following from a distance. Guo Shier felt like a thief; he laughed and said, “We’re being sneaky. Actually, we could be more straightforward…” As he spoke, the door of a nearby house opened, and a person stepped out. Seeing Luo Jie and Guo Shier approaching, he was stunned—foreigners rarely came here. “Who are you looking for?” Eagle Demon rushed up from behind, grabbed the man’s neck, and laughed, “We’re looking for you!” Then he pushed the man hard into the house, with the others following in. Guo Shier carefully closed the courtyard gate. Luo Jie quickly cast a series of spells, and in an instant, the entire courtyard was sealed off. No one could escape, nor could any sounds or messages get out. Only a professional stronger than Luo Jie could break through this restriction. Eagle Demon released his grip and pushed the man hard, causing him to fall to the ground. The man shouted, “Hey, what are you doing?” A few professionals ran out of the house. Luo Jie glanced at them and said disappointedly, “Damn it, all low-level professionals…” Guo Zhan rushed over and, with a few punches and kicks, knocked those people to the ground, knocking them out. He clapped his hands and said, “Done!” At that moment, another professional came out of the house. Guo Shier’s eyes lit up as he exclaimed happily, “Oh, not easy—there’s a great sage here… Hmm, it’s actually a high-level great sage! Haha, not bad!” Meanwhile, Qi Nanshan had already teleported in front of that person, grabbed his shoulders, and injected countless virtual talismans into his body. The poor man couldn’t react at all. Facing a master at the sixth-tier altar, he was like a newborn baby; against a strong man skilled in martial arts, he had no chance to resist. The guy who had been pushed into the courtyard stood there with his mouth wide open, unable to speak. After a while, he finally started screaming, “Someone help…” Guo Shier couldn’t help but laugh, “Shout all you want—no one will come even if you shout your voice hoarse…” He suddenly realized his words were evil.
This courtyard is where professionals live, not a residence for those with families. Many lower-level professionals ran out of the houses as well and were all knocked unconscious by Luo Zhan. Ying Mo quickly searched every room and came out, saying, “There’s no one else. Hehe, I didn’t expect there to be a Great Sage here. The rest are all lower-level professionals; the highest rank is just Mad Master. Good luck.”
That man asked, “Who are you…”
Luo Jie raised his hand and slapped the man hard, shouting, “Shut up!”
Only the Great Sage remained calm. He didn’t live here; he had a disciple who temporarily came to this courtyard and was caught by others. Calmly, he said, “This is Gu Mi family’s territory. How dare you harm Gu Mi family’s professionals? Do you want to die?”
Guo Shier said, “Answer a few questions, and I’ll let you die peacefully. Otherwise… you’ll regret being born.” His tone carried no hint of threat, as if he were talking about something ordinary. In truth, he hated the Gu Mi family deeply—they were the reason his family was destroyed and left homeless.
The Great Sage’s heart pounded wildly. He forced himself to calm down and asked, “Who are you? I don’t think I’ve offended you… Why target me?” He couldn’t understand why these people wanted to harm him.
Guo Shier replied indifferently, “It’s not you who offended me. It’s your Gu Mi family that destroyed our continent. Hehe, so… it’s payback. We came here to destroy your Gu Mi family.”
The Great Sage’s heart turned icy. Such a feud was the most terrifying. He certainly knew that over the past century, his family had invaded at least seven or eight continents, burning, killing, and looting, destroying countless sects and families. That’s why high-level professionals often came to seek revenge. Of course, thanks to their family’s overwhelming strength, they were always suppressed. He never expected to encounter this himself and thought to himself how unlucky he was.
Such a feud for extermination was always a life-or-death struggle with no room for compromise. The Great Sage had given up hope. He could sense that the people before him were extremely powerful and said, “Kill me…” Then he closed his eyes and said nothing more. He knew that begging for mercy was pointless.
If he could commit suicide, he would definitely not hesitate. But Qi Nan Shan pressed a hand on his shoulder, locking away all his abilities, leaving him unable to resist and at the mercy of others.
Luo Jie suddenly emitted seven or eight flames of the soul, and in an instant, those low-level professionals lying on the ground turned to ashes. He said, “One great sage is enough. Guo Shier, you ask him.”
The man, whose eyes had just closed, immediately widened in shock. Among those burned to ashes by Luo Jie was his own disciple. He couldn’t help but cry out, “You…!”
Guo Shier slapped the man across the head. His soul trembled slightly as he said, “Old man Shuai! It’s your turn!” Suddenly, more than a dozen tentacles as thick as chopsticks extended from his palm, piercing into the man’s skull and straight into his soul. Old man Shuai quickly cast spells to extract useful information from the man’s soul.
The great sage’s mouth hung open, his fear evident in his eyes—he was terrified beyond measure. The pain in his soul prevented him from even screaming; it was truly worse than death.
A moment later, a piece of memory was extracted. Old man Shuai organized it and stored it in a jade talisman.
Guo Shier took out the jade talisman and pressed it to his forehead to examine it. He couldn’t help but curse, “This bastard! He was at the North Talisman Gate and killed many of our people… Found it, master. Look.” He tossed the talisman to Luo Jie.
By the time Gu Xi Bi’s tentacles pulled the man’s soul out, the man was already dead. Immediately afterward, the tentacles drained his soul completely, condensing it into a small soul bead.
After reviewing the jade talisman, Luo Jie silently handed it to Qi Nan Shan.
Qi Nan Shan glared at it in fury and shouted, “These bastards!”
Eagle Demon and the others also read the contents of the talisman, all of them furious, with only Nan You appearing slightly less upset. He had seen many such battles between professionals across the continents and the plundering by the victors.
Luo Jie said, “We’ve basically figured it out. There are four storage locations in total. The most important one is at the professional trading center in the north corner of the city. Hehe, it holds many precious items. There’s also another one worth noting… it’s for storing goods in transit, including many valuable materials and items.”
Qi Nan Shan nodded. “The other three are rather ordinary, containing materials used by mid- to low-level professionals. We could go there if we have time.”
Luo Jie asked, “Shier, have you found anything about the merchant guild’s warehouses?”
Guo Shier cast a few spells and smiled. “Hmm, we already have some information.”
Luo Jie was surprised. “How did you find it? By capturing people too?”
Guo Shier shook his head and said, “It’s simple. Sell some precious materials or items and leave a mark on them. After these merchant firms purchase them, they store them in their warehouses. So… I can find the exact location.”
Luo Jie praised, “Clever! Smart…”
Qi Nanshan laughed and said, “Shier, you’re too sneaky. Sell the items to the merchant firms, then steal them back, and even take some other things along the way. Hehe, I like it!”
