Chapter 2: Fierce Thunderstorms (Part 1)
Eagle Demon was even more nervous than Guo Shier. He certainly knew that the Tan Ya Secret Realm held great appeal for the ancient Mi Luo family. Fortunately, Yan Mi Luo hadn’t pressured Guo Shier; otherwise, he wouldn’t have known what to do. From Ban Xilong’s attitude toward Yan Mi Luo, it was clear that the old man was an extremely formidable figure.
If Yan Mi Luo decided to act, neither Guo Shier nor Eagle Demon would have even a chance to struggle, let alone escape. Only Zhou Xiaoling had yet to realize the danger.
Yan Mi Luo said, “You rest for a couple of days first. I’ll accompany you to the Ancient Mi Luo Continent.”
Guo Shier had no desire to go to the Ancient Mi Luo Continent at all. He said, “We still have one companion who hasn’t arrived. Let’s wait for him. He’s also someone who has received the ancient inheritance.”
Yan Mi Luo thought for a moment and said, “Alright, let’s wait until he arrives.” He clapped his hands, and an adventurer immediately entered. He said, “Prepare a residence for Young Master Guo and treat him with the best care. Do not treat him lightly. Understood?”
The man nodded and left.
Yan Mi Luo clapped his hands again, and another adventurer entered. He said, “Go and call Wei Ya Mi Luo here!”
A moment later, Wei Ya Mi Luo came in and said respectfully, “Elder, I’m here.”
Yan Mi Luo nodded and said, “Issue them golden identity badges.”
Wei Ya Mi Luo was stunned and asked, “Identity badges for core disciples?”
Yan Mi Luo said, “Treat them with elder-level privileges.”
Wei Ya Mi Luo was completely stunned. After a long while, he said, “This… isn’t this too much?”
Yan Mi Luo replied calmly, “When we return to the Ancient Mi Luo Continent, their treatment will be even better. For now, just provide them with an identity badge.”
Wei Ya Mi Luo nodded mechanically and left just as mechanically. Ai Yi Mi Luo watched and laughed nonstop, finding Wei Ya Mi Luo’s stunned expression amusing.
Yan Mi Luo stood up and said, “You go back and rest first.”
Guo Shier secretly breathed a sigh of relief. This hurdle had been overcome for now. Once Luo Zhan arrived, he planned to flee immediately. He didn’t care about any treatment—he didn’t want to stay here at all, let alone go to the Ancient Mi Luo Continent.
This was also where Yan Mi Luo made a mistake. After investigating carefully, he learned that Guo Shier and the others had been captured from extremely distant places. Remote continents couldn’t have the coordinates of the talisman gates here, so he casually allowed them to move around freely.
A professional without any rune gate coordinates almost has no chance of leaving the Thousand Rock Continent. But Yan Miluo didn’t know that Guo Shier’s inheritance from the ancient Miluo family contained numerous rune gate coordinates, giving him a chance to escape.
…
Guo Shier and the others were led to a very exquisite stone house, where many servants and maids attended to them.
As soon as the three entered, Guo Shier collapsed to the ground. With a bitter smile, he said, “Ban Xilong must hate me to death. If I see him again, he’ll probably kill me!”
Eagle Demon nodded and said, “I never expected Ban Xilong to have a physical altar. That’s terrifying. He’s on par with Choumo—really scary…”
Zhou Xiaoling remained silent for a long time before saying, “Shier, you don’t have to take the lead.”
Guo Shier replied, “I can’t leave you here alone.” He still unconsciously held onto some concepts from his past life—believing that a man must take responsibility and not let a woman face danger. But such concepts seemed nonexistent in this world, making him stand out.
Zhou Xiaoling said softly, “Thank you.”
Guo Shier waved his hand nonchalantly and said, “We’re partners. There’s no need for formalities.”
Eagle Demon said, “You’re quite adventurous, daring to confront Ban Xilong head-on.”
Guo Shier said with a grim face, “It was luck in misfortune. If we hadn’t received the inheritance from the ancient Miluo family, we would have been doomed this time… Damn it, it’s thanks to Yan Miluo from the ancient Miluo family that we’ve managed to get out of trouble for now.Ah, it all boils down to insufficient strength. If I had Brother Li Ran’s strength, huh… who would dare be so arrogant!”
Zhou Xiaoling asked in surprise, “The ancestor helped you… Shier, you seem hostile toward him?” The fact that Guo Shier called Yan Miluo by name showed his disapproval of him.
Eagle Demon said, “Dingding, that ancestor’s initial plans… weren’t honorable. You’re too young to understand. He’s just stabilizing us for now…”
Guo Shier stopped him from continuing and said softly, “Once Uncle Luo returns, we still need to leave this place. We won’t go to some Ancient Miluo Continent. Here… I have a few coordinates I can use.”
Eagle Demon said, “It will be very difficult to leave!”
Guo Shier replied, “I understand. I understand…”
Zhou Xiaoling said with a bitter smile, “What are you talking about? I don’t understand anything.”
Guo Shier didn’t know how to explain either, so he just reassured her, “Dingding, don’t worry. Just follow us. Don’t worry about anything else. My uncle and I will handle it.”
Zhou Xiaoling felt a warmth in her heart. Her gaze toward Guo Shier revealed a hint of tenderness as she nodded and said, “Alright, I’ll follow you anyway.”
Guo Shier said, “Get some rest quickly. Practice when you have time. I still have a few Soul Beads here. Whether they’re useful or not, use them… It might help improve our strength a bit.” He was eager to enhance his abilities, even though he had only been promoted not long ago.
In less than ten days, Luo Zhan was sent to the Qianyan Continent. His first words upon seeing Guo Shier and the others were, “Shier, Eagle, I thought I’d definitely die at the Gu Xi Long family’s hands!”
Guo Shier laughed and said, “But you came back alive!” The three of them laughed heartily and hugged each other. Zhou Xiaoling asked in surprise, “Hey, how can three grown men hug each other like that?”
Guo Shier grinned and said, “Well then, let’s hug you!” He pretended to pounce on her.
Zhou Xiaoling was so scared that she quickly ran away, shouting, “Don’t hug me!”
Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan saw Zhou Xiaoling terrified like a little rabbit and burst into laughter. Eagle Demon said, “Dingding gets shy too, haha. I wouldn’t have guessed!”
Zhou Xiaoling snapped, “You perverted uncle!”
Guo Shier waved his hand and said, “Everyone, come over. Let’s discuss whether to escape from here right away.” Here, he could use the Cross-Realm Talisman by simply entering the coordinates into it. Since there were no outsiders in the room, even if the talisman door was opened, the people of the Gu Mi Luo family wouldn’t know.
All four of them’s eyes sparkled. It would be a lie to say they weren’t tempted. Eagle Demon was the most cautious. He asked, “Did Yan Mi Luo say when we should leave?”
Guo Shier replied, “It’s either tomorrow or the day after.”
Luo Zhan asked, “If we escape, can they track us?”
Guo Shier smiled bitterly. “I don’t know, but… I think they can! Maybe they can track us.” He wasn’t sure either. Professionals in this world were sometimes unpredictable, especially those with virtual or physical altars—their abilities were beyond the imagination of ordinary professionals.
Zhou Xiaoling glanced at one and then the other before suddenly saying, “Hesitating… will only prevent us from escaping!”
Guo Shier finally made up his mind. He said, “Dingding is right. We can’t hesitate any longer.” He immediately told Eagle Demon to tell the servants outside that the four of them needed to practice for about two days and that no one should disturb them during that time.
Now that they had identities, their words carried weight. The servants didn’t dare to oppose and respectfully agreed.
They closed the door, exchanged smiles, and Guo Shier casually activated the interdimensional talisman. A portal appeared, and Guo Shier said with a smile, “Let’s go!” There were numerous portal coordinates in their inherited memories, but they needed to be verified slowly. After exiting the portal, Guo Shier didn’t dare stay; he immediately checked the coordinates to find ones that could lead to distant locations, then activated the interdimensional talisman again. The four of them kept entering and exiting through the portals, passing through countless continents and secret realms. Without time to explore these places, they would enter any continent or secret realm briefly before leaving right away. The coordinates they chose were random—as long as they worked, whether it was a continent or a secret realm, they would enter and leave quickly. A month later, Guo Shier realized they were lost. With so many coordinates, they didn’t know which one would lead them to the Earth Fire Continent or a familiar land. The continents and secret realms they used to know couldn’t be accessed through the portals, meaning they were very far from home. This time, when the interdimensional portal opened, the four entered a secret realm. Having visited many secret realms, Guo Shier could gradually distinguish their types. This one was quite ordinary—meaning it resembled a continent somewhat and could be inhabited. It was a vast plain covered in wild grass, with many ordinary animals. No talisman beasts or mutated talisman beasts were seen, but there were several fierce beasts with bright fur, none of which posed any threat to professionals like Guo Shier. After examining it carefully, Guo Shier said, “Let’s look for an entrance or exit to this secret realm. Using fixed coordinates to move around feels a bit unsafe.” Wildflowers bloomed across the grassland, and Zhou Xiaoling happily ran around, once again becoming a carefree girl. Suddenly, a leopard-like beast rushed out of the bushes and lunged at Zhou Xiaoling. The beast had hidden so well that Zhou Xiaoling was unprepared and was knocked to the ground instantly. Zhou Xiaoling shouted angrily, “How dare you attack me!” Guo Shier smiled and said, “It looks like a leopard… No, more like a tiger. Ding ding, that big cat is male!” Bang! Bang! With punches and kicks, they sent the beast flying. Zhou Xiaoling cursed, “Daring to attack me from behind…” The beast, suffering from the pain of the blows, let out a scream and ran away. Zhou Xiaoling pursued it, rushed forward at high speed, quickly grabbed the fur on its neck, swung hard, throwing it into the air, and before it could land, kicked it into the air again.
Watching this brutal beating, Guo Shier and the others broke into cold sweats—this girl was way too violent.
