Chapter 6: The Mysterious Realm of Changya (Part 1)
Zhu Juan laughed loudly and said, “Guo Shier, it’s your master who’s looking for you.”
Guo Shier was surprised. “My master? Master Kumu?”
Zhu Juan knew he had two masters and nodded. “Yes, it’s Mumu who’s looking for you! He’s at Beifu Gate. If you have time, go back as soon as possible. Your master’s wife is there too.”
Guo Shier asked, “Has something happened?”
Zhu Juan replied, “It’s nothing serious. You’ll know once you get there.”
Guo Shier scratched his head and muttered softly, “It’s so vague—it gives me a headache!” Then he said, “Alright, I’ll go back and check. Uncle Fat, I heard you went to see Uncle Yan Long?”
Zhu Juan said, “It’s fine. I’ve already gotten in touch with him. He’s joined a sect recently.”
Guo Shier asked, “Is it a sect from the Core Foundation Continent?” He remembered Yan Long planning to join Haimen, but by the time he left, Yan Long hadn’t joined yet. He wondered if Yan Long had changed his mind again.
Zhu Juan nodded but didn’t mention which sect it was. Guo Shier didn’t press further and asked, “Uncle Fat, are you going?”
Ying Mo sat behind Guo Shier, head bowed, lost in thought.
Zhu Juan smiled and said, “I won’t be going.”
Guo Shier scratched his head hard. He really couldn’t figure out what his master and master’s wife were doing. It obviously wasn’t something very important, otherwise Zhu Juan wouldn’t look so relaxed. He said, “Alright, I’ll go back and check. Hehe, it’s been a long time since I was at Beifu Gate.”
Zhu Juan smiled and said, “Beifu Gate has changed a lot. It’s good for you to go back and take a look.”
Guo Shier talked a bit more about things outside, chatted casually, then got up to bid farewell with Ying Mo. Zhu Juan stood up to see them off. Although he was an uncle, both Guo Shier and Ying Mo were already Saint Master-level elders, so their statuses were equal. Therefore, he couldn’t neglect them.
In truth, Zhu Juan was quite envious of this young guy. After visiting a mysterious realm, he had become a Saint Master. His progression speed was astonishing—he had become an expert in talismans before even reaching adulthood. To his knowledge, this was the first time someone of such young age had reached such a high level. Plus, he had known Guo Shier since he was very young, so he felt close to him.
After bidding farewell to Guo Shier and Ying Mo, the two flew back to their family’s estate.
Qin Han was already waiting in the reception hall. There were many matters within the family that required Guo Shier’s decision. Qin Han had also advanced to Senior Master. Since he had reached Master level too late, it hindered his further progress, making it difficult for him to become a Mad Master. So he simply devoted himself wholeheartedly to being his junior brother’s steward.
Guo Shier simply took care of some household matters. With the help ofdead wood (kū mù) translates to dead wood or withered wood. and Monier, as well as Zhu Juan and others, Guo Shier’s family had thrived within the Chenxiao Sect. Especially since he had obtained a large amount of sect points, which allowed his family’s disciples to traverse the Path of Illusion, the family’s strength had improved rapidly, with many already reaching the rank of master.
Qin Han knew that most of the members of this family were from the Luo Jie family; in fact, this family could be considered Luo Jie’s family. Without Guo Shier, Luo Jie’s family might have long since declined. Now, thanks to Guo Shier’s family, Luo Jie’s family remained strong within the Beifu Sect, even growing stronger than before.
After handling the family affairs, Guo Shier didn’t stay long. He opened a cross-dimensional talisman in the living room and took Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan back to the Beifu Sect immediately. Huo Bao and the others stayed at the Chenxiao Sect’s family compound.
The three of them appeared directly in Luo Jie’s manor, where a large group of guards quickly surrounded them. Guo Shier smiled and asked, “Uncle Xiaofeng, where is my master?”
Xiaofeng waved his hand to disperse the guards and said, “Shier, why have you come back? Have you found the old master?”
Guo Shier smiled bitterly and replied, “No, but he should be safe.”
Xiaofeng showed a relieved smile and said, “Your master and master wife left some time ago. They left you a message talisman. I’ll go get it.” He called over a guard and whispered a few words to him, after which the guard quickly left.
Guo Shier asked, “Uncle Xiaofeng, have you also received the inheritance?”
Xiaofeng replied happily, “Yes. I went to the Chenxiao Sect the year before last and got a chance to traverse the Path of Illusion. Hehe, I’ll have another chance in a few years. I hope to reach the rank of Mad Master soon.”
Since the Beifu Sect allied itself with the Chenxiao Sect, many of its experts had gained the opportunity to traverse the Path of Illusion. Now, the Beifu Sect’s strength was so great that it surpassed other sects, becoming the foremost sect on this continent. Many master-level experts had emerged, along with a few at the Mad Master level. Over time, it wasn’t even impossible for saints to appear—of course, excluding experts like Guo Shier who had left the Beifu Sect. Qi Nanshan had already reached the rank of Great Saint Master and was a top expert even within the Chenxiao Sect, let alone in the Beifu Sect.
Soon, the guard returned, handing a message talisman to Xiaofeng.
Guo Shier took the talisman from Xiaofeng, examined it briefly, then put it in his talisman pouch. He said, “Uncle Xiaofeng, we’re about to leave. My master wants me to go to a secret realm.”
Xiao Feng asked, “Are we going back?”
Guo Shier said, “I don’t know. Let’s go to the secret realm first and talk to Master and Masteress.”
Eagle Demon asked, “Which secret realm?”
Guo Shier replied, “The Tongyou Secret Realm. We’re going there.”
Xiao Feng asked, “Is it the Tongyou Secret Realm where the Earth Dragon was found?”
Guo Shier nodded. “That’s the one. Master is waiting for me there… Well, only for a while. If it’s too late, they’ll leave.”
The Tongyou Secret Realm was rare; it served as a passage connecting the continent to other secret realms and could be considered a special kind of secret realm.
Not wanting to delay, Guo Shier bid farewell to Xiao Feng and immediately activated the talisman gate. This time he didn’t use a cross-dimensional talisman—coordinates to the Tongyou Secret Realm were already stored in the talisman gate. He adjusted the destination coordinates and stepped through the gate.
It was a forest with a stream flowing slowly through it. Guo Shier, along with Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan, stepped out of the gate and immediately saw two tents—one on the north side of the stream and the other on the south side, separated by the stream. Monier was sitting idly on a rock by the stream, chin in hands, lost in thought.
Guo Shier called out, “Masteress!”
Monier turned and her face lit up with joy. She stood up, flew across the stream, and said, “Oh, my dear! I thought I wouldn’t see you again.” Although Guo Shier was already eighteen, in Monier’s eyes, he was still a child.
Kumu stepped out of the tent, offering a stiff smile as he watched him quietly before saying, “It’s good that you’re here.”
Guo Shier stepped forward and hugged his masteress, smiling. “If I hadn’t happened to return to Haimen, I might not have made it in time.”
Monier habitually patted Guo Shier’s head before realizing he had grown much taller than her. She sighed and asked, “You’ve finally grown up, Shier. Have you found your master, Luo Jie?”
Guo Shier shook his head with a wry smile. Eagle Demon and Luo Zhan stepped forward to greet her. Monier nodded, then said to Kumu, “Kumu, what are you standing there for?”
Kumu grunted before stepping forward and saying, “I didn’t plan to call you here originally…”
Monier interrupted, “Shier, I asked you to come. Ignore your wooden master! Being with him is boring.”
Guo Shier knew that these two would argue non-stop once they were together, but most of the time it was Monier bullying Kumu. Fortunately, Kumu was quiet and rarely retorted, so Monier’s insults usually stopped there. They were a typical pair of feuding friends. He asked, “Master’s wife, where are you going?”
Monier replied, “It’s your master who’s going to a secret realm. Ask him.”
Kumu said, “On the Xinxiji Continent, I bought the coordinates to a secret realm at a high price.”
Guo Shier was surprised. “Coordinates to a secret realm? Is it a special one?”
Kumu replied, “It’s called the Tanya Secret Realm!”
“The Tanya Secret Realm? What makes it special?”
Kumu said expressionlessly, “I don’t know!”
Guo Shier was speechless for a while before saying, “What do you mean? Master, you don’t know anything yet, but you still bought the coordinates to a secret realm, and at a high price no less?”
Kumu explained, “Because it’s unique! These coordinates were sold together with a Fumen Fu. I obtained this Fumen Fu through an auction. There are three coordinates in total—two of them are worthless, but only one… the Tanya Secret Realm… is worth exploring. It’s an ancient Fumen Fu, and only a practitioner at the Great Sage Master level can unlock it.”
Guo Shier said, “I see. That’s why master came to the Tongyou Secret Realm?”
Kumu nodded. “Yes. The rules of the Tongyou Secret Realm are relatively few, and only here can this Fumen Fu be used.”
Guo Shier asked, “There are many skilled practitioners in the Chenxiao Sect. Master, why didn’t you bring them?”
Kumu replied indifferently, “I can’t trust them.”
Guo Shier suddenly understood. After ascending to Great Sage Master, Kumu had started seeking his own path. He didn’t want to share certain things with the sect, so he had to find people he trusted as assistants, so that if he made any discoveries, the sect wouldn’t take interest. Moreover, after reaching the rank of Great Sage Master, the sect no longer supervised him.
There were countless continents and secret realms in the world, but few were valuable. Many were barren, and many were ordinary, so a good set of coordinates for a secret realm was extremely precious. Since each secret realm was different, the coordinates to special realms required a Fumen Fu to be used, while entering ordinary realms only required modifying one’s own Fumen Fu—there was a huge difference between the two.
In other words, even if one were given the coordinates to Guo Shier’s secret realm, without entering it personally, it would be impossible to mark them on the talisman gates. This is specifically mentioned in the teachings and is basic common knowledge for advanced professionals. After pondering for a moment, Guo Shier found this hint in the teachings, which greatly piqued his interest.
It was then that Guo Shier understood why his master was unwilling to take people from the Chenxiao Sect in—once they entered, they could mark the coordinates on the talisman gates, revealing the secret realm completely and preventing any secrets from being kept. Therefore, one must take their own people in first; even if significant discoveries are made, they won’t be easily exposed.
