Chapter 9: The Azure-Scaled Python (Part 2)
With a fierce roar, the Giant Perch Dragon charged at the Azure-Scaled Python without hesitation, opening its massive mouth to bite.
The mutated Azure-Scaled Python suddenly opened its mouth, releasing a white misty airflow that caused the temperature around it to drop rapidly. Along with the extreme cold, the python let out a terrifying hissing sound.
Although the Giant Perch Dragon was huge, it was very agile. It immediately turned its huge head to the side and shifted its body slightly, allowing the icy mist to hit its shoulder blades. Instantly, its movements slowed down, frost formed on its body, and it turned a dark green color.
Guo Shieru shouted, “It’s poisonous!” Then he pointed at the Ancient Flame Sparrow. With a soft chirp, the sparrow suddenly spat out a burst of flames.
Eagle Demon and Zhou Xiaoling didn’t dare to approach—this Azure-Scaled Python was too big to attack effectively. Zhou Xiaoling had an idea and cried, “Use the talisman javelins! Shoot at it!”
In his free time, Guo Shieru had made many talisman javelins. These were very useful for attacking large mutated talisman beasts and could be considered a form of long-range attack. However, their power wasn’t great, not comparable to virtual talisman weapons.
Zhou Xiaoling held a talisman blade in one hand and a talisman javelin in the other, shouting, “Attack its eyes!” She threw it forward. The javelin, as thick as a duck egg and over two meters long, whizzed toward the Azure-Scaled Python. Eagle Demon also grabbed a talisman javelin after pulling out one from his belt while holding a talisman shield in the other hand, and threw it as well.
The mutated Azure-Scaled Python tilted its head slightly, and when the javelins hit its scales, there were two loud thuds. The fast-moving javelins only left two white marks on its scales, failing to break through its defense.
At the same time, the Giant Perch Dragon also slammed into the Azure-Scaled Python with force.
Boom!
The ground shook, and everyone stepped back. The Giant Perch Dragon roared as it bit at the python’s neck. The Azure-Scaled Python nimbly moved its triangular head and easily avoided the attack. The dragon’s teeth collided, producing a cracking sound, as it bit into nothing. Suddenly, the python raised one of its claws and swung it forward fiercely.
The claw pierced straight into the Giant Perch Dragon’s chest. The dragon roared in pain and also raised its front claw to strike back fiercely. Everyone was stunned—was the dragon even capable of hitting back?
Snap! The python’s head swung like a pendulum from the strike, and it hissed loudly.
Guo Shieru shouted, “Attack together! Go!”
In just a few moments, everyone saw hope for victory.
The Ancient Flame Sparrow flew above the Azure Scaled Python and spat a blast of talismanic fire downward. The Azure Scaled Python raised its head and spat out a gust of cold mist, producing a screeching sound as thick white smoke rose. Clearly enraged, it suddenly lifted its coiled tail and swung it fiercely. The Ancient Flame Sparrow chirped softly and dodged with a flash.
The sound of the Azure Scaled Python’s tail slicing through the air was terrifying. Although it missed its target, as it fell, it suddenly turned to attack the approaching Eagle Demon. Guo Shieru screamed in terror, “Hide quickly!”
The Eagle Demon hadn’t expected this either. Lacking the ability to teleport, he gritted his teeth, raised his talismanic shield, and bent his body sharply, with talismanic patterns flashing across his body. With a loud crash, he tried his best to absorb the massive impact, but the Azure Scaled Python’s tail was simply too thick, sending him flying. Even mid-air, he couldn’t help but spit out blood.
Guo Shieru’s eyes burned with anger as he roared, “Uncle Eagle Demon!”
Zhang Yaojin suddenly disappeared from his spot and reappeared where the Eagle Demon had fallen, catching him just in time. The tremendous force sent him stumbling backward. He quickly cast two spells and shouted, “Shieru, it’s okay!” The Eagle Demon added, “Wow, that was amazing!”
Guo Shieru regretted it deeply. He shouted, “Dingding, retreat!” Only then did he realize that a Talismanic Martial Master couldn’t possibly fight against an eighth-level mutated talismanic beast—unless he had inherited some power, in which case he might be able to hold his own. Going up now was simply seeking death.
The Azure Scaled Python had already pounced on the Giant Nesting Dragon, its thick body tightly coiling around it.
Chaos reigned at the scene. Chen Zhen Dong didn’t know what to do. He had already unleashed his life talisman book, but he couldn’t attack because the Azure Scaled Python and the Giant Nesting Dragon were entangled.
Guo Shieru was furious. Although the Eagle Demon was unharmed, he had seen clearly how he spewed blood in mid-air, which filled him with pain.
Two golden lines shot out, rising quickly into the air to form golden blades that slashed fiercely at the python’s head. The mutated Azure Scaled Python clung tightly to the Giant Nesting Dragon’s back with its massive mouth. Due to the dragon’s huge size, this bite wasn’t very threatening. The Giant Nesting Dragon jumped around on the ground, its huge claws crushing the Azure Scaled Python with thunderous impacts.
Crack!
Guo Shieru was delighted to see that his sword talisman had managed to pierce through the python’s scales. Though it was only a shallow wound, it gave him hope. After advancing to an intermediate Talismanic Martial Master, his sword talismans had also improved, making their attack power much stronger than before.
Seeing that it could break through the defense, Guo Shier immediately became energized. He directed the sword talismans, slashing wildly, and in an instant, blood sprayed from the Jinlin Python. Although only its scales were breached, it still suffered extreme pain. It promptly abandoned the Giant Perch Dragon, released its grip, and tried to pounce on Guo Shier.
At that moment, Chen Zhen Dong stepped in.
The moment the Jinlin Python broke free from the Giant Perch Dragon and lunged at Guo Shier on its two claws, Chen Zhen Dong tapped his life talisman book, and a black dot shot out rapidly. In the blink of an eye, it formed a small earth-yellow hill, with layers of talismanic patterns flashing and emitting waves of yellow light. He shouted, “Smash!”
The hill suddenly turned into a huge rock, which crashed down fiercely.
Boom! Crack…
Caught off guard, the Jinlin Python was slammed hard into the ground by the hill. Chen Zhen Dong pointed, and the hill rose immediately. The impact left the Jinlin Python dizzy; though it wasn’t killed, it was stunned for a while.
Seizing this opportunity, the Ancient Flame Finch pounced suddenly, spewing a burst of talismanic fire that landed on the Python’s triangular head.
This was a perfect move—best of all, it wasn’t commanded by Guo Shier but was entirely the result of the Ancient Flame Finch’s own initiative.
The talismanic fire drove the Jinlin Python completely mad. It was originally a vicious ice-type talisman beast, while the talismanic fire was pure, intense fire, instantly burning its flesh to pieces. It violently exhaled cold air, leaning forward slightly and plunging its head into the cold mist. The talismanic fire made hissing sounds.
The Jinlin Python’s body suddenly glowed, with cold air currents rapidly gathering together. In an instant, countless ice spikes formed around its body. Though only the size of a thumb, their shimmering blue light was chilling. With a roar from the Python, those ice spikes shot out like arrows. The ice spikes radiated in a circular pattern around it, spreading in all directions like ripples.
Guo Shier instantly teleported to avoid them, but neither the Giant Perch Dragon nor the Ancient Flame Finch could teleport. With a series of thudding sounds, both were hit by countless ice spikes.
Zhou Xiaoling planted her talismanic blade in the ground and hid behind it, which was as big as a door panel, with constant clanging sounds. The Eagle Demon pressed his talismanic shield to the ground and pulled Zhang Yaojin behind it. Chen Zhen Dong also teleported away. For a moment, the Jinlin Python seemed invincible.
Guo Shier emerged from behind the Giant Perch Dragon, drenched in cold sweat—this Jinlin Python was far too troublesome. He shouted, “Hurry up and kill it!”
Everyone was anxious. Fighting here for so long would surely alert other mutated beasts. If another huge one appeared, they would all die here.
Guo Shier knew that the only outcome of anyone getting too close to the Jinlin Python was death, so he could only keep driving the Giant Perch Dragon to attack. Only a bigger beast could deal with another bigger beast.
The Giant Perch Dragon leaped up suddenly, pressing its two front paws firmly on the Jinlin Python’s neck. The Jinlin Python’s earlier counterattack had dealt it significant damage, making the Giant Perch Dragon aggressive as well.
The Jinlin Python roared as it turned around and wrapped itself around the Giant Perch Dragon again. With a fierce effort, it rolled around, crushing the Giant Perch Dragon. Roars, growls, and howls filled the air. The intense battle stirred up the thick mist, filling the surroundings with fog once more, leaving no one able to intervene for a while.
Eagle Demon shouted, “Ding ding! Let’s use our talisman blades to drain its blood!”
Zhou Xiaoling swung her massive talisman blade at the Jinlin Python. At that moment, the Jinlin Python had no time to pay attention; it was already being bitten in a vital spot by the Giant Perch Dragon and struggled desperately to break free.
Eagle Demon switched to a thick talisman spear—quite absurdly large, three meters long, with one meter being the blade. Its cross-section was triangular, featuring three blood grooves, and its tip was treated with talismanic runes, making it extremely sharp. He flew low to the ground, darted to the Jinlin Python’s abdomen, and with a loud shout, used all his strength, his body glowing with talismanic light.
Thud!
The talisman spear pierced half a meter deep. Eagle Demon stepped back and punched the tip of the spear hard, as if driving in a nail. With three consecutive punches, he nailed the spear deeper into the Jinlin Python’s body. Then he took out another talisman spear to find another spot to pierce.
Zhou Xiaoling was equally fierce. She rushed straight to the injured wound on the Jinlin Python and swung her huge blade, slashing wildly like cutting down a tree. The poor Jinlin Python, tightly wrapped by the Giant Perch Dragon, couldn’t retaliate at all, leaving it at the mercy of the two.
Guo Shier’s sword talisman also stabbed frantically. He didn’t dare to swing wildly but used precise stabs to expand his impact.
Zhang Yaojin and Chen Zhen Dong watched in astonishment. These people were not only violent but also worked in perfect coordination, leaving the two at a loss as to what to do.
Eagle Demon had three talisman spears in total. Two were embedded in the Jinlin Python’s body, while he hesitated to use the third to pierce further. Instead, he used it to drain the Jinlin Python’s blood, with continuous thudding sounds as holes were made in its body. The Jinlin Python’s blood gushed out like a fountain, and gradually, it began to weaken.
The Jinlin Python could no longer hold onto the Giant Perch Dragon and finally released its grip. Just as it turned to deal with the Eagle Demon and Zhou Xiaoling, the Ancient Flame Sparrow spat out a ball of golden talismanic fire, which shot straight into the Python’s open mouth. In that single strike, it took half of the Python’s life force.
Sssss…
The mutated Jinlin Python suddenly exerted immense force, plunging its two front claws viciously into the Giant Perch Dragon’s body. The power it unleashed was absolutely unparalleled. With a loud explosion, a huge crack appeared on the Dragon’s back.
Roar!
