Chapter 580: You’re Angry, I’m Happy
After bidding farewell to the dazed Wu Ming, Su Che entered the gates of the Thunder God Temple alone.
He had already learned most of what he needed to know—Wu Ming was only at the Divine Transformation stage, and such adventures could easily drag him into trouble. Moreover, in his current state of obsession, he wouldn’t be of much help anyway.
“A few casual words from the master have benefited this kid greatly. It seems that before long, another master who will dominate the field of thunder magic will emerge in the mortal cultivation world,” said Lao Hei with a smile in the Immortal Prison.
Su Che smiled without saying anything. Such things were truly unpredictable.
The entire Thunder God Temple was 20,000 zhang tall—nearly twice as high as the highest mountains on ordinary planets. It was indeed an extremely rare and magnificent structure.
The gates, located at the bottom, were even wider than ordinary city gates. Having existed for at least millions of years, the building showed no signs of decay. Even the slightest dust couldn’t cling to it, as it was constantly bathed in the forces of lightning from all directions. It resembled a newly built structure, with no trace of its age.
Once inside the gates, one entered a vast labyrinth that could easily lead to getting lost.
Although Wu Ming had said that over the years, countless people had explored this temple out of curiosity and drawn its structure diagrams, Wu Ming himself didn’t possess such maps. He had enough self-awareness to revere this temple and knew he wasn’t yet qualified to uncover its mysteries.
In fact, this massive structure didn’t bear any inscriptions revealing its true name. The so-called “Thunder God Temple” was merely a title given privately by generations of cultivators who specialized in thunder magic out of reverence.
On the planet where lightning was omnipresent, only a deity who controlled the essence of lightning could possibly dwell inside such a place, right?
It was because of this assumption that it came to be called the “Thunder God Temple.”
After entering the temple, Su Che saw countless paths, numerous gates, stairs leading up or down, and countless caves densely packed like beehives on the stone walls. In other words, there were countless choices ahead: which way should he go?
“Since I can sense that this place is fated for me, I don’t need any experience or maps. I’ll just follow my instincts and walk randomly.”
With such thoughts in mind, Su Che planned to step onto the circular staircase not far to the left. Yet, his steps suddenly stopped, and his brows furrowed… Because at the entrance of the gate behind him appeared a graceful figure—none other than the woman who caused him endless headaches and disgust: Xue Yu!
“All this time, she’s been secretly following me. How could she show herself openly now? Could it be that this Thunder God Temple has some factors that are extremely favorable to her, allowing her to completely suppress me?”
Various suspicions arose in Su Che’s mind. He slowly turned around, gazing at Fairy Xue Yu, and said in a low voice, “Is there any way to make you, who never leaves my sight, disappear forever? If anyone can come up with a good solution, I will be extremely grateful.”
Fairy Xue Yu’s peerless beauty was the most stunning among all the women Su Che had ever seen—flawless in every way. Yet, not only did seeing her upset him, but even thinking of her face made him feel terrible, as if he had swallowed a fly.
“You need to work hard for this yourself. Don’t always rely on others,” said Fairy Xue Yu with a faint smile, her words carrying an unmistakable tone of threat. “To be honest, I’ve set a deadline for myself: if I still can’t get what I want in 100,000 years, I’ll have to give up. 100,000 years, Su Che—this is just the beginning. Eventually, you’ll get used to it. Who knows? By the time I finally give up, you might even feel lost without me.”
With that, she covered her mouth and smiled, her posture graceful and her demeanor enchanting, like a holy goddess showing a rare, charming smile to a mortal. Such grace and smile were undeniably captivating, and Su Che was immediately tempted.
What kind of temptation?
The desire to kill!
Su Che wished he could rush forward right away, tear this detestable woman to pieces, reduce her to ashes, and erase her from existence…
“If everyone in the world were like you, I would set a final goal for my life,” Su Che said hatefully. “That is, one day, to destroy this world with my own hands.”
Then his expression changed again, and he waved his hand. “Never mind. I’m too lazy to argue with you. So, why did you suddenly appear here? Do you want to fight me?”
“Of course not!”
Xueyu’s expression was the complete opposite—she seemed never to get angry at Su Che at all. Still smiling, she said, “I’m quite interested in this Thunder God Temple as well. I plan to travel with you and explore its mysteries together. For now, let’s turn enemies into friends—no one should scheme against the other. Can you do that?”
“I can’t!” Su Che replied outright. “I have no interest in it at all. If you don’t intend to fight me, then go your own way. Stop following me stubbornly.”
“Dream on,” Xueyu said softly, giving him a glance. “Unless you’re willing to return that pagoda and my sister to me, you won’t be able to get rid of me for the next hundred thousand years. Oh, and those hundred thousand years start counting from today—the time before that doesn’t count.”
Su Che took several deep breaths, forcing down the violent emotions surging in his chest. He also warned himself silently, “Getting angered so easily by her—maybe this is some trick she’s using, working behind the scenes…”
Swish!
Two red beams of light shot from his eyes. To vent his anger, Su Che thought it necessary to deal her a blow.
Let the Light of Destruction take care of her!
With two light taps, Xueyu raised her bare hands. Her delicate fingers moved tens of thousands of times in an instant, using an extremely subtle technique to dissipate those two beams of light.
They were only twenty zhang apart, yet Xueyu could respond so quickly and calmly. This showed that, with Su Che’s current strength, defeating her was still just a dream.
“One more time, I can tolerate you—but not a third!” Xueyu stopped smiling, her expression turning slightly stern as she said softly, “If you dare be rude and violent to me a third time, I’ll ruin your exploration completely! You want to fight? Fine, I’ll fight with you until the end of time to see how you can still explore these mysteries.”
At this moment, her tone and expression didn’t resemble those of an enemy at all—rather, it was like two lovers arguing, with her showing those typical feminine temper tantrums toward her sweetheart.
Su Che stared at her for a while. For some reason, he suddenly broke into a smile.
Shaking his head with a smile, he didn’t know why he was laughing. Then, turning around, he followed his initial impulse and stepped onto the circular staircase on the left.
Xueyu, dressed in a white dress, resembled a fairy of the blue waves as she followed him lightly.
Of course, in Su Che’s eyes, her delicate figure had nothing to do with a fairy at all—she was merely a female ghost hanging behind him, one he had to be on guard against at all times.
“Do you know the way?”
After climbing just a few dozen steps, Xue Yu took out a jade slip and said to Su Che ahead, “This is a map I got just now. Maybe it’ll be useful.”
“Stolen from someone else?” Su Che asked indifferently without even turning around.
“Bought it.”
Xue Yu’s tone was as gentle as the warmest spring breeze, lightly brushing against Su Che’s heart. “I only steal your things.”
“Do you think you can drive me mad?” Su Che asked with a smirk.
“I’ve never had such a fanciful idea,” Xue Yu replied softly. “It’s just that seeing you angry makes me feel pleased.”
“Stay away from me! I’ll blow you to bits!” Su Che snapped.
“Childish!”
Of course, Xue Yu wouldn’t obey. She kept a distance of three zhang from him, not deviating by even an inch.
Climbing the steps at a steady pace, Su Che had no intention of accepting the map offered by Xue Yu. After all, so many cultivators had explored the Thunder God Temple before, yet none had reported any real benefits—this proved their methods were useless.
Better than relying on one’s own intuition!
It was a confidence Su Che had for no apparent reason, which could only be explained as “fate.”
The circular staircase consisted of exactly three thousand steps. Upon reaching the top, they saw a large circular hall—empty yet spotless. Millions of years of history hadn’t left even a trace of dust here.
Of course, this wasn’t a miracle for cultivators; many dust-avoidance spells could achieve the same.
Swish!
Suddenly, a purple crystal long sword appeared in Su Che’s right hand, as he adopted a vigilant stance.
Xue Yu, following behind, grew curious, as she saw no danger in the hall. Could he have detected some hidden threat?
She no longer dared underestimate Su Che’s strange abilities, so she asked through telepathy, “Did you find anything?”
“Nothing,” Su Che replied calmly.
“Then why did you pull out the sword?” Xue Yu asked.
“To protect you!” Su Che answered bluntly.
Xue Yu’s expression paused briefly before she smiled and said, “I won’t get angry. That trick won’t work on me.”
Su Che let out a low hum and didn’t reply verbally, but thought to himself, “With you, that persistent pest following me, no knife in hand and constant unease—how could I have the leisure to bicker with you?”
During the previous three thousand steps up the stairs, Xue Yu had been only thirty feet behind Su Che, close enough that she could deliver a powerful strike at any moment. For Su Che, this was the epitome of having an enemy at one’s back, an extremely uncomfortable situation.
So, he took out his knife, ready for attack or defense at any time. His vigilance wasn’t directed at the unknown dangers of the Thunder God Temple, but rather at Xue Yu, that relentless pest.
