Chapter 683: The Otherworld Version of Terror and Attack
After the Time Dragon Qiaotelejiao expressed no interest in the divine abominations, Donald and his two companions captured quite a number of them, most of which were species rarely seen or even non-existent in the outside world.
In fact, the strongest group of divine abominations nurtured by the Pantheon of Light had perished in the ancient war between gods and demons. Thus, those imprisoned as the strongest were only at the peak level of mid-tier gods. Moreover, bound by the rules of this plane, they could not devour each other, so over time they hardly gained any strength.
Thanks to their sparks of divinity, which granted them nearly immortal lives—though not truly eternal—they required little food, sleep, or breathing, and aged extremely slowly. As a result, unless destroyed, divine abominations rarely died naturally; they were practically immortal.
Otherwise, if trapped for so long without food or water, even legendary creatures would starve or die of old age. Even true gods trapped for such a long time would have to enter a long slumber; otherwise, the torment of staying awake would drive a normally sane deity mad!
After all, gods are also intelligent beings who can feel loneliness!
After each of Donald and his two companions captured hundreds of divine abominations according to their preferences and areas of expertise, they lost interest in capturing more.
After all, this vast plane now belonged to them, with guardianship tokens in hand. They could return at any time and didn’t need to take everything at once. They could capture batches over time, allowing the remaining abominations to continue reproducing in the plane.
After leaving the Plane of Divine Abominations, the Time Dragon Qiaotelejiao took his leave.
This experience of accompanying the three true gods had been enlightening for him. For a dragon who had lived for so long, it was the best kind of diversification and entertainment.
“Although we haven’t spent much time together, I’ve already felt the sincerity of the three lords. We are already friends. Perhaps one day I’ll visit your divine kingdoms. I hope I can enjoy the best food there!”
Donald smiled and said, “Don’t worry. The delicacies of my Azeroth Divine Kingdom are among the best in the entire Pantheon. You’re welcome to taste them whenever you want!”
“Well then, goodbye!” With that, Qiaotelejiao vanished into the starry void, heading unknown.
Watching the sacred figure of Qiaotu Leijiao disappear from sight, Donald exhaled in awe, “What a miraculous creature!” Even Donald couldn’t help but marvel at the Time Dragon, a being born to manipulate the laws of time, roaming between past and future. Loki and Thor nodded in agreement—such powerful and wise creatures were extremely rare even in their own universe. There, most powerful beings were ancient demons acting on instinct, with only a few having the chance to rise to become gods who ruled over realms. After this interstellar expedition, although Loki didn’t obtain what he had hoped for, the knowledge gained from these divine beings was still invaluable to him. By analyzing the unique divinities they possessed, he could gain insights into many more fields. This was beneficial for enhancing his strength as an upper god and breaking through to the level of a near-true god—far more worthwhile than simply acquiring divine artifacts. However, since he couldn’t find a suitable item to exchange for, the High Divine Artifact known as the Book of Doom, which was crucial for his ascension, had to remain in Donald’s possession for now. Although their relationship had grown close, second only to that with a father god or brothers, it was precisely for this reason that Loki didn’t want to owe Donald any more favors. Only when giving and receiving were equal could friendships, loves, or family bonds endure. It took Donald half a month to return to his divine realm. As soon as he arrived in the Azeroth plane, he learned of some bad news from his true form. Just a few days after the three of them left the divine realm for their interstellar adventure, several important locations of the Natural God System in the main world, belonging to the Celtic Alliance, were attacked by unknown assailants. The Hunter class descended to the main world immediately to investigate, while the true form of the Law God, hidden in the main world, also began searching secretly. “I think these attacks were aimed at the gold shops we opened!” Half a day after the series of attacks, King of the North and God of Kingship, along with other true gods of the Natural God System and several legendary powerful demi-gods from the Celts, gathered at the Tower of Dusk Mage. Donald shared his analysis. “No way! The places most affected by the attacks were shops and local lord’s residences. Only a few gold shops were attacked—how could gold shops be the target?” asked Catherine, the newly appointed Goddess of Commerce, in confusion.
Donald explained, “Although not all of them targeted gold shops, only those that were attacked suffered thorough looting. Other stores lost little in terms of valuable items like equipment and potions. Do you think a force capable of planning such widespread coordinated attacks across the continent would care about the small savings in local gold shops? Moreover, this kind of overall strike also undermines the reputation of the forces in the Celtic Alliance. Which industry do you think suffers the most after such an incident?”
“Gold shops!”
The people present exclaimed in unison.
Though the enemy carefully concealed their intentions by launching attacks on multiple locations controlled by the Celtic Alliance, Donald quickly identified the inconsistencies after learning the details.
Without stable reputation and strong strength as guarantees, no one would want to deposit money in their gold shops. Everyone there was highly intelligent, and upon Donald’s hint, they immediately understood the situation.
Seeing this, Donald continued, “I have another unproven guess: this attack might not just be aimed at undermining our collective reputation, but specifically at Catherine, the goddess of commerce! It seems someone is jealous and dissatisfied with our growing strength. There’s likely more than one goddess involved behind this!”
Upon reflection, they agreed—it was true. If gold shops were attacked, it proved that Catherine, the goddess of commerce, couldn’t protect her followers’ wealth. If she couldn’t even safeguard her own domain, how could anyone worship her?
“So what do you suggest we do?”
Charles, the King of the North who wasn’t good at political tactics, asked Donald with a worried expression.
Donald smiled coldly. “Do nothing! If you’re always a thief, there’s no need to worry about thieves every day. Here in the main world, we can only try to calm things down and resolve issues. Overreacting would only fall into their trap. As long as we catch the mastermind and cut off the source, such incidents won’t happen again. It will also serve as a deterrent to all factions. Our pantheon of nature gods isn’t something that can be easily bullied!”
Donald spoke firmly, and the other members of the pantheon felt greatly reassured. With such a leader, how could the pantheon of nature gods not grow stronger?
