Chapter 634: The Return of the King of the Undead
Having lost one companion, the combined domain of the remaining two demi-god undead creatures could no longer hold back the erosion from Amps’ Magic Forging Domain.
Although the demi-god lich possessed a body as strong as steel due to his undead nature, he was still a magic-based class, and thus fell short compared to those demi-gods who specialized in physical combat. Without the agile resistance provided by the Vampire Lord and the powerful physical shield of the Flying Tyrant, the demi-god lich would likely have been slain by Amps’ sword long ago—even though he was somewhat the strongest among the three.
Now, without the restraint of the agile assassin, the Vampire Lord, their already strained battle situation became even more chaotic, leaving the two demi-god undead creatures struggling to cope.
The Flying Tyrant, resembling a rotting dragon corpse, was a mutated undead beast—similar to the stitched corpse monster—both created by the Archmage of the Dead!
Its greatest strength lay in its formidable physical combat ability; whether through charging or attacking, its power was on par with that of a legendary dragon at its peak. Coupled with the intense poisonous plague aura surrounding it, capable of infecting even divine beings, it made it difficult for ordinary demi-gods to even confront it, let alone defeat it.
Yet these advantages held no significance against Amps, the newly risen Lord of the Abyss.
Once he had to avoid the attacks of those three powerful demi-gods, Amps now felt no fear. He might have hesitated against two true god-level beings, but three demi-god undead creatures, even without the advantage of a home dimension, were nothing but obstacles in his path.
Firstly, Amps’ massive demonic true form was far stronger and more resilient than the decaying body of the Flying Tyrant. Secondly, before those poisonous plague auras could spread, they were burned to ashes by the Magic Forging Flames within Amps’ domain.
As one of the most powerful innate abilities of Abyssal Magic Forging, the Magic Forging Flames shared similarities with the Sacrificial Fire manifested by Hunter Donald, while also having some effects akin to the Destroying Flames that could annihilate a golden body. Though not as powerful as those two, its versatility was its strength—both tangible and intangible entities, as well as those in special forms, could be harmed by the Magic Forging Flames.
Especially now that Amps had become a demon lord at the lower god level, the power of the Magic Forging Flames had increased significantly alongside his overall strength.
The two demi-god undead were already overwhelmed just defending their domains and attacking each other, let alone finding time to counterattack. Thus, the Flying Tyrant, which had no other advantages beyond its massive size and deadly corrosive abilities, couldn’t hold on and was slain by Abyssal Alchemist with a true divine great sword. Under Donald’s watchful eye, the demi-god lich also lost any chance of escape and followed in its companions’ footsteps. After killing these three demi-god enemies, Amps, filled with joy, roared loudly to the sky. This battle not only granted him combat experience and the strength befitting a demon lord but also brought him great rewards from the Abyssal Will due to the deaths of the three demi-god enemies. “Killing is indeed the best way for cultivation in the Abyss. Just three demi-god enemies have raised your power from the early stage of a lower god to the peak of that level. It’s a pity it was achieved through external forces; after my plan is implemented, you’ll likely only be able to retain about 30% of that power!” Donald remarked, observing Amps’ increased strength. Amps, however, was quite optimistic. “Master, rest assured. I won’t let sudden power go to my head. Only strength under my own control is true strength!” Donald nodded. “Well said. Now, we must hurry and cleanse this plane. New troubles are likely to arise soon. By then, you may not have time to deal with such trivial matters.” With that, the two returned to Howling Fortress. After eliminating all uncooperative entities in the plane, Amps used his status and authority as the lord of Layer 422 to fully activate his virtual divine persona, imposing his own set of rules on the plane. This was akin to a true god refining the rules of his own divine realm—a crucial step that all demon lords must take after gaining control of a plane. As a result, outsiders entering here would face invisible rule-based constraints, and Layer 422 became relatively isolated, making it nearly impossible for demi-gods to enter. Even those above the level of demi-gods would face significant difficulties and be constrained by the rules, unable to fully utilize their powers. This gave the plane’s master more time to understand and control it. Of course, achieving this required considerable time. With Amps’ current strength and understanding of rules, it would take at least three days to initially seal Layer 422 and fill it with his own rules.
This is also why Abyssal Demon Forger acquired a great deal of knowledge in this area under Donald, a powerful true god. If it were someone like Yenogu, the King of the Werewolves—a useless true god and demon lord who has been a god for thousands of years yet remains at the level of a newly ascended god—he would likely need several years to complete these initial steps.
Donald’s avatar remained inside the Howling Fortress. During Amps’ process of altering the rules of this plane, his task was to endure for three days, resisting all external threats to ensure Amps’ efforts to take control of the plane were not disrupted.
It was a simple yet difficult task. Simple because, under normal circumstances, a plane that has already been claimed would not be disturbed by malicious outsiders, as that would be equivalent to declaring war on the newly ascended demon lord, a war with no chance of peace. Difficult because a powerful being had already regarded the 422nd layer of this plane as his own, and he would surely come to reclaim it soon.
Once a strong enemy appeared, it would attract the attention of more predators, leading to endless troubles.
Fortunately, Donald was well-prepared when sending his avatar this time and had made plans for the worst-case scenario.
For Donald, this period was like the calm before a storm. Thankfully, he was not a novice stepping onto the battlefield; he remained calm, without any emotional fluctuations.
After a day of peace, on the second day of Amps’ efforts to alter the plane’s rules, a mighty presence descended upon the 422nd layer.
To the northwest of the Desolate Grasslands, amidst a range of mountains, there was a strong aura of corruptive negative energy. This was the territory occupied by the undead creatures sent by Dorison under Yenogu’s command. The rugged peaks were filled with hungry undead along the narrow paths.
Within these Howling Peaks lay a network of abandoned underground caves, hiding numerous ancient tunnels—these were the dimensional passages leading to the Pale Kingdom, ruled by Dorison, the King of Ghouls, on the 421st layer of the Bottomless Abyss.
Such natural dimensional passages connecting two abyssal planes mostly appeared between adjacent planes.
Since Amps had just begun altering the plane’s rules and had not yet had time to seal these passages, anyone could come here through the Pale Kingdom’s dimension.
Although Donald had various ways to seal or destroy them, he did not do so. Because this was exactly the effect he wanted.
By the time the powerful pressure from the other side reached the 422nd layer, Donald had already arrived outside the Howling Peaks to welcome this guest. Thus, as soon as the invaders appeared outside the Howling Peaks, they saw a figure clad in a gray cloak. Seeing the figure of “Yenogu, the God of Werewolves,” surrounded by an aura of death, in front of the pale King of Ghouls, Donald sighed and said, “It seems Yenogu has fallen. Surely its power has been stolen by you as well, Your Majesty, the King of the Undead…” Yenogu was enveloped in a grayish-white divine glow of immortality, mixed with deep red energy. Realizing his identity had been exposed and not intending to hide it in the first place, Oscar immediately started screaming, “Since you know who I am, kneel and submit, and offer up the 422nd layer of existence. Perhaps I might even give you a chance to follow me and join the ranks of the great undead. Otherwise, death will be your fate!” Hearing this, Donald wasn’t angered. Instead, he said jokingly, “What a joke, Oscar. It seems you’ve spent all these years hiding, living like a foolish demon insect. You’re just an avatar using someone else’s body, speaking such bold threats here. If your true form appeared, I might still show some restraint, but after being a coward for thousands of years, do you dare to reveal your true form? I’m afraid the moment you show up, you’ll face attacks from several high-ranking gods!” The King of Undead, whose weakness had been exposed, became furious. “Ignorant and foolish god, you deserve to die…” Furious, Oscar didn’t hesitate to use a powerful killing move. As one of the ancient demon monarchs with vast combat experience, the King of Undead would never make the mistake of underestimating an enemy unless they were well-hidden and their strength exceeded his expectations. A far more powerful blasphemy spell than those used by ordinary evil creatures shot toward Donald in the form of a dark light column. If hit by this innate spell ability, filled with filth and evil laws, even an avatar of a true god would be in trouble. Following the blasphemy spell was the Words of Blasphemy—a more powerful evil force similar to the blasphemy spell, using the vilest and most corrupting words as a curse to corrupt any being not part of the evil faction, especially causing the greatest harm to those in the just and kind factions. This was because Oscar realized Donald was an avatar of a true god, so he chose this most effective method of attack.
For the two attacks of blasphemy and profane speech, Donald didn’t want to be hit by either, especially in an environment like the Abyssal Plane. Without the support of his true form’s power, if he were tainted by even a trace of impure force, he would need to shed that part of his avatar’s body. After all, the flesh and blood of an avatar are essentially created by divine power; in other words, divine power is a component of them. Thus, losing any part of the body meant reducing the avatar’s power reserves. This is why avatars of true gods often become smaller as the battle progresses.
