Chapter 612: The Mysterious Plane
The demi-god ghoul and the shadowy infiltrator managed to escape the attacks of the Destroyer Statue, not due to Donald’s mistake but on purpose. This was because the greatest weakness of the Soul-Seizing Golden Bell artifact was that its target would regain consciousness the moment attacked, so a single successful strike was necessary—otherwise, it would give the enemy a chance to counterattack or escape.
Donald ordered the Destroyer Statue to use two true artifacts to deal with the other two demi-god immortals, but used inferior artifacts against the demi-god ghoul and shadowy infiltrator, whom he considered the most difficult opponents. As a result, he could only inflict some damage on them without successfully subduing or eliminating them.
However, now that those two powerful allies were gone, the demi-god ghoul and shadowy infiltrator, though still strong, became much easier to deal with!
After taking the blows, the demi-god ghoul, relying on its ghostly agility, cautiously and viciously launched a counterattack at the Destroyer Statue. Yet the claws of the inferior artifact could only spark against the arm wielding the superior artifact, failing to cause any damage.
The Destroyer Statue wasn’t slower than the demi-god ghoul, but the latter had the advantage of being small and agile. Compared to the Destroyer Statue, which stood over twenty feet tall, the ghoul, despite being a demi-god, was only about five feet tall—like a mouse circling an elephant. To crush the mouse, the elephant would need to have the same reaction speed as the mouse.
The Destroyer Statue wasn’t lacking in this regard, but the demi-god ghoul didn’t give it that chance. Unless the Destroyer Statue could unleash all its strength without hesitation, but Donald didn’t want to cause destructive damage to the surrounding altars and magic arrays, which would prevent him from uncovering their secrets. So for now, he could only prevent them from escaping.
The cunning ghoul had actually realized that its opponent was just a puppet, with the real controller being the intruder who had entered the altar. But it was impossible for it to break through the Destroyer Statue’s defenses and attack Donald’s avatar. Compared to its own demi-god strength, the monster before it was simply too powerful!
Unlike the demi-god ghoul, which understood the situation clearly, the shadowy infiltrator, another demi-god shadow, though also cunning, lacked such sharp intelligence. In its eyes, the most powerful enemy was the monster with many arms. As long as it could deal with this formidable foe first, the remaining intruders would be easy to handle!
So, after escaping the attack of the Radiant Beam, this guy hid in the darkness. It had a great opportunity to attack Donald’s avatar, but it didn’t do so instead. Instead, while fighting against the Destroyer, it suddenly appeared behind the Destroyer, carrying endless cold and the light of death as it rushed at it.
The demigod ghoul, which had dodged the Destroyer’s attacks, almost spat out blood at this sight—if it were still alive! While cursing Vormshadow in its heart for being a stupid idiot, this cunning ghoul already began to consider retreating.
Vormshadow, intent on launching a sneak attack on the Destroyer, was an undead spirit and lacked the adaptability of a living being. Though its plan was good, it overlooked one thing: as a puppet creation, how could the Destroyer fear its voidish cold? Neither the freezing power of cold and darkness nor the corrosive damage of death energy could affect the Destroyer’s body, forged from the mighty form of a divine abomination with a hundred arms.
Instead, the moment Vormshadow attacked, the Destroyer spontaneously unleashed one of its two signature spell abilities: the Flame of Destruction. With a roar, pale black flames burst forth, turning the Destroyer into something like a human-shaped torch tree. Despite Vormshadow’s speed and quick reflexes in turning and fleeing, it was inevitably touched by the flames.
The Flame of Destruction could not only destroy matter but was even more effective against energy and spiritual entities, making it a perfect counter to undead shadows like Vormshadow.
Even just a slight touch from the Flame of Destruction caused the shadow, which originally emitted light of death and cold, to explode like a gunpowder barrel ignited by those flames. Vormshadow didn’t even have time to split its body before its entire body caught fire. In just a few breaths, this demigod-level undead creature turned to smoke, leaving behind only a dark crystal emitting faint green glimmers—Vormshadow’s demigod divinity, as well as its soul core!
Without pause, the Destroyer then attacked the demigod ghoul again. The ghoul tried to escape repeatedly, but within this realm of a mid-tier god, it could only scurry around in panic.
Meanwhile, Donald collected his spoils: two crippled demigod undead creatures and a necrotic divinity!
Previously, if Donald wanted to deal with these two demi-god immortal creatures, his only option was to kill them and collect their materials. But when his true body sent the Destroyer Statue to the main world, he secretly hid the High Divine Artifact, the Book of Truth, inside it. This concealed it from external views, giving his avatar the chance to retrieve it. With the powerful influence of the Book of Truth, Donald easily subdued the powerless Rotting Forerunners and the Fear Knights bound by the Prison God into the Land of Truth. Now, only the most cunning of the four immortal creatures, the demi-god ghoul, remained—though its days were numbered! Yet things often take unexpected turns. Just as Donald prepared to deal with this last problem, the spatial rift on the altar suddenly trembled and became unstable. “Kill us, and the passage left by our great master will be destroyed. No one will ever know the secrets here…” The ghoul’s hoarse mental signals carried a sense of pride mixed with readiness to die heroically, clearly showing absolute loyalty to the King of Immortal Creatures who created it—loyalty that demanded even self-sacrifice! Hearing this, Donald immediately realized that the altar’s main function was to draw and transform death energy from the abyss. The spatial rift could be opened thanks to the power of these four demi-god immortals, who were the foundation of this passage. After dispersing the Rotting Forerunners and imprisoning the Fear Knights, two sources of power were lost, causing instability in the rift. But with the remaining two demi-god powers holding it together, it hadn’t collapsed yet. Now, with the Destroyer Statue having eliminated the Hidden Night Shadows, only one demi-god power remained to stabilize the rift, so it was bound to collapse soon. “What a clever plan!” Donald couldn’t help but admire it in his heart. “It seems that King of Immortal Creatures also feared enemies might come and, after killing his servants, discover the secrets in this spatial rift. That’s why he set this up—so that even if they succeeded in killing the four immortal beings, the passage would collapse instantly, leaving no chance to uncover its mysteries.” But since Donald had discovered this, he naturally wouldn’t allow the passage to vanish. So his avatar immediately waved his hand, releasing a burst of divine light to temporarily stabilize the rift.
The demigod ghoul, constrained by the powerful Destroyer Avatar, struggled even to protect itself. Seeing this, it grew anxious, but even if it ignored its own safety, it couldn’t break through the defenses to stop Donald’s actions!
Once the passage stabilized temporarily, Donald’s saintly avatar turned to look at the ghoul struggling in the hands of the Destroyer Avatar. With a wave of his hand, the Destroyer Avatar transformed into a dark golden light and fell into his hands.
“Well, that’s convenient for you. Let’s go!”
With that, he dived headfirst into the spatial passage.
After Donald left, the passage, deprived of the support of the divine kingdom, began to tremble and collapsed within just a few breaths.
Watching the twisted and collapsing passage, the demigod ghoul’s terrifying face showed a complex expression. It wanted to chase after him, but then remembered its mission. In that moment of hesitation, the passage vanished, leaving the undead creature to sigh silently as it continued to guard the altar, which had lost most of its functionality, and the still-operating magic array.
As for Donald, once he entered the other side of the spatial passage, sensing the familiar pressure of its rules, he knew this was the realm of the Bottomless Abyss.
However, looking at what lay before him, he realized this was not any of the realms he knew—different even from the abyssal realms he had visited.
Though he wasn’t familiar with many abyssal realms, and had only been to a few in person, he didn’t overthink it. After all, he had left coordinates in the main world and the divine kingdom and other realms. To return, he could use the immense power of the Destroyer Avatar to create a direct interdimensional passage.
Even though only a will-formed avatar entered this abyssal realm this time, it wasn’t afraid. With the existence of a higher-grade divine weapon, even with the isolation of the abyssal will, it could receive power support from its true form at any time.
So Donald immediately sensed the situation of this realm and then headed in a determined direction toward its core.
The rule pressure here was much weaker than that of the several abyssal realms he had visited before. In those realms, although Donald could fly, it required enormous energy and limited his speed, making it worse than moving on land.
But in this unknown realm, the rule pressure was significantly reduced. Donald felt that with the power of his avatar alone, it wouldn’t be a problem to unleash legendary strength.
The size of this plane was surprisingly small, only equivalent to a large semi-plane. Despite the somewhat restricted ability to fly, it took him no more than half an hour to reach the core area where the plane’s energy was most concentrated. What surprised him was the existence of a rather large city here. Yes, a city—not ruins, but a real city with living inhabitants, relatively clean and tidy! Yet, a strong sense of death permeated this city; clearly, not a single living being could be sensed here. It seemed that only dead entities resided and moved about! Seeing this, Donald suddenly had a bold guess. “If I’m not mistaken, could this be the legendary semi-plane of Morth?”
