Chapter 582: The Ascension of the Blood Demons and the Demon Slayer
With Uther’s addition, even a powerful abomination like the Witherer could not escape the influence of the Holy Light Realm. After all, no matter how strong it was, it still belonged to the undead. Apart from its necrotic divinity, the Witherer had little value beyond bones and shrouds—materials useful for undead-related crafts. These were precious immortal items for demi-gods and true gods in that realm, but for Donald and his allies, they could only serve as additives, as their own realm was completely incompatible with the necrotic realm.
Thus, Donald didn’t bother preserving the loot as thoroughly as those legendary void monsters before. He acted without restraint, as what he truly needed was merely the mysterious substance within those abominations that could accelerate the evolution of divine lands. Working together, Donald and Uther dealt with the Witherer—though it was the strongest abomination present aside from the Hundred-Armed Giant—it became the first to be defeated. A few undead creatures couldn’t stand against the might of the Holy Light Angels and quickly turned to ashes in the sacred flames! Without his subordinates’ aid and unable to devise any stronger tactics, the Witherer was forced to endure devastating blows from divine thunder and had its body torn apart by the Wrath of Nature.
Waving his hand to collect the Witherer’s remains, Donald turned his attention to the battles of the others. King Charles of the North and the God of Adventure and Navigation, Ciri, teamed up to fight two Blood Demons. These vicious, bloodthirsty predators were the second-strongest abominations in Azeroth’s divine realms, after the Hundred-Armed Giant and the Witherer. Blood Demons were brutal killers among abominations, feeding on the blood of living beings. Though they originated from elemental chaos, they could be found in almost any place rich in prey.
Unlike the Hundred-Armed Giant, Blood Demons were said to be descendants of powerful true gods—though some claimed they were combat creatures bred by true gods—the former explanation being more plausible. Later, due to their cruelty and chaos, they were abandoned, imprisoned, and exiled into the endless void. After countless years, their prison broke, allowing the Blood Demons to evolve into a race of abominations. Their terrifying appearance was such that a single vicious glare could halt the actions of lesser beings with weaker willpower. Moreover, they possessed keen senses and could hunt anything for food or sport.
These creatures were like skinless toads, with purplish-red muscles exposed all over their bodies, mouths filled with sharp teeth, and claws as deadly as meat grinders. Their appearance resembled the mutated monsters from a horror movie Donald had seen in a past life—the Lickers. It was obvious they were nothing but killing machines.
Unlike the Lickers, the four-armed Blood Demons could skillfully swing their claws like wheels, tearing everything in their path to shreds!
Both of these Blood Demons were semi-divine warriors, their strength only slightly inferior to that of the Witherers. While the Witherers focused more on corrosive attacks using negative energy, the Blood Demons relied purely on physical combat.
Their only quasi-magical ability was their terrifying gaze. At the start of a battle, they would use this gaze to paralyze their enemies before turning to a weaker one and tearing it to pieces with their claws.
They would relentlessly attack an enemy until it died before moving on to a new target.
The most terrifying aspect of the Blood Demons was that they followed orders given to them by the gods who created them. They felt no fear and never fled under any circumstances—true killing machines. Usually, they traveled in groups, often accompanying powerful elemental beings such as fire giants or demons, as well as forces of death like death giants.
Thus, for ordinary semi-divine beings, the Blood Demons were extremely difficult to deal with—sometimes even unbeatable.
However, Charlie’s Winter Avatar was a manifestation of a true god, wielding a true divine artifact. Ciri’s totem god also possessed a primary divine artifact of similar rank, giving them a slight advantage.
Especially Ciri, the god of adventure and navigation, whose elemental powers related to water and the sea were excellent at defending against and countering agile warriors who relied on purely physical combat. Her domain powers could slow down enemies, greatly restricting the Blood Demons’ incredible speed, which they used to ambush their prey. As the king of the North and guardian of the Celts, Charlie also controlled a protective domain, and combined with the power of his true divine artifact, his defensive capabilities were immense. Though the claws of the Blood Demons were as hard and sharp as ordinary true divine artifacts, they were merely material—lacking the divine power and authoritative might inherent in true artifacts.
Thus, it’s extremely difficult to break through the defenses formed by true divine artifacts. With their greatest strengths being countered by two true gods, the outcome is predictable. Moreover, Charlie and his allies have the powerful legendary spellcasters Messel and Chikofield to back them up!
The two Blood Demons, unable to cope on their own, reluctantly followed in the footsteps of the Destroyer Giant. They were frozen into ice blocks by the King of the North and then properly stored by Donald.
After dealing with the two Blood Demons, Donald turned his attention to Amps and the others.
The demi-demonic demons and the quasi-demi-god swordsman Carlisle faced some difficulties in battle after Uther stepped in to deal with the Witherers, but the situation was still manageable.
Star Divers can be considered relatively weak among the divine abominations. Although they hold the status of demi-gods, their ordinary attacks are only on par with those of stronger peak legendary warriors.
Created by the gods as tools in their war against demon gods, they are not as formidable as beings like the Hundred-Armed Giant or Blood Demons who engage in direct combat. Instead, they are more akin to scout units in mortal armies, skilled in assassination and reconnaissance.
Even after being exiled by the gods, Star Divers continued to survive. They now form an independent race, living in the void of the star realms. Star Divers gather into small tribes, with those who acquire the best loot becoming tribal leaders.
A cautious Star Diver never engages in direct combat; instead, it relies on its invisibility and stealth abilities to ambush its victims. It possesses poisonous bone spines in its throat that can be ejected with deadly precision.
Star Divers use these spines to disorient and cripple their enemies. Once one or more enemies slow down or become immobile, the Star Diver rushes in for close combat, using its rapid claw strikes to target its chosen prey. If its prey overcomes the effects of the spines, the Star Diver retreats, becomes invisible again, and resumes remote attacks, repeating the same tactic.
The stealth abilities of Star Divers are so powerful that even true gods cannot detect them. Amps and Carlisle, facing such a situation, were also at risk. But this cunning assassin didn’t expect that Carlisle possessed divine abomination bloodline—Pash, the God of Hatred, is among the stronger ones among divine abominations, with a bloodline rank higher than that of Star Divers. Thus, Carlisle could sense the location of Star Divers at will without any restraint.
Due to such unexpected circumstances, the Star Diver’s successive ambush tactics failed, and it suffered severe injuries. Being struck by the Blood Demon Sword and the Demon Slaying Sword—two sub-divine artifacts with similar properties created by the same artisan—was no small matter. Although they lacked any additional skills, one focused on absorbing the enemy’s life force while the other emphasized the soul realm, both possessing the powerful ability to endlessly draw on the enemy’s strength to evolve, up to the limits set by their materials. After numerous battles and the slaying of many beings above legendary status, both sub-divine artifacts were nearing the threshold of becoming true divine artifacts, making their power unimaginable. The injured and weakened Star Diver soon wanted to retreat; it wasn’t the bloodthirsty Blood Demon that knew only slaughter nor a wretched creature. It tried to escape but had no chance against Donald’s formidable control skills. If it wanted to get away, its strong stealth abilities would make it easy enough. Seeing this, Donald knew he couldn’t ignore it—otherwise, though Amps and the other could defeat the Star Diver, they wouldn’t be able to stop it from escaping. So he raised his spear, and the Light of Judgment was released from its tip, striking and locking onto the cunning Star Diver like a meteor. With the guidance of the Light of Judgment, even if the Star Diver entered stealth mode, it was as visible to Donald as a searchlight in the dark. Its strength was far inferior to its current level, so it was captured effortlessly with just one move. “You’ve done well. I intervened only because I was afraid this guy would escape!” After praising Amps and the other, Donald threw the defenseless Star Diver out of the Land of Truth. “Go ahead! The blood and soul of a demi-god abomination should be enough to elevate your sub-divine artifacts to true divine artifacts!” Amps and Carlisle looked in delight at this gift from Donald and almost simultaneously thrust their weapons forward. One sub-divine artifact pierced the Star Diver’s heart, while the other went into its skull. Soon, the Star Diver’s body shriveled as if dried for hundreds of years, and its pupils lost all luster.
The two sub-divine artifacts greedily absorbed the soul and bloodline power of the demigod’s abomination as if they were living beings. As the body of a demigod’s abomination, the Star Diver’s body was essentially worth as much as that of an ordinary newly risen god. However, its twisted and chaotic divine power was not easily absorbed or transformed by other godly beings.
But for cold, lifeless objects like divine artifacts, none of this posed a problem. They accepted any energy that could be absorbed and transformed without any negative effects such as divine conflicts or conflicting wills!
Soon, both sub-divine artifacts emitted a red glow and trembled slightly before emerging on their own from the Star Diver’s withered body.
Seeing this, Donald shouted at Amps and the other: “Now!”
Upon Donald’s warning, Amps and Carlisle, who had already been prepared, immediately stretched out their hands and firmly grasped their sub-divine artifacts. But then, the two artifacts started struggling violently, almost breaking free from their grasp.
